The NRL must be pretty dumb too I suppose for not wanting a team there eh nqboy?

Or perhaps they're just sensible, who knows?

Perhaps they are. But then, if they were, surely they would have demanded national FTA coverage in the recent TV deal, wouldn't they?

And yet, they haven't said they don't want a team on the CC, they only said they wanted the GC first. So what's your point?

Or, they could just be as silly as you. But, on the evidence of their development of the NRL in recent years and the quality of your posts in this thread, I don't think they are.

The fact that the NRL are offering $8 Million to any team that moves to the Central Coast suggests they do want a team there ;-).

But it suggests that they don't want to increase the number of NSW based teams at the same time.

Central Coast people, it's not the fault of the Gold Coast that you didn't get the '16th' team, it's all those selfish clubs in Sydney that won't die/merge/move and let you have your own team :whistle.

A Central Coast Bears team would not only give the CC a team, it would also bring back the north shore of Sydney to rugby league. People deserted the Neagles because everyone knew the JV was a sham that helped save Manly's arse - even the commentators all called them "Manly".

Why won't the NRL give the money to CC and north shore to fund junior dev, bring in Singo's CC Bears - instead of whoring itself to clubs who don;t want to move. It's fraud or incompetence at a staggering scale.

$8M is much better than the $3M that HAC and Maximus are offering for Souths.

Why don't the members vote on that one as an option as well?

Vote 1 George and his usual Leagues Club grant of $0
Vote 2 $3M Maximus 75% stake
Vote 3 $8M NRL grant to relocate to CC and the members retain 100%

the fact that people say they dont deserve a team based on ridiculous facts. I have a house on the Central Coast, at least I know what its like I drive up there nearly every week.

Great point DJ1...

Souths need to be out of Sydney, fighting a losing battle there. CC can support a team, but we dont need an extra team based in NSW. Relocation is the only way that a team from the CC will be in the NRL in the near future.

Any expansion (or other relocation) team needs to be based in the West or in NZ.

But that's just the point- Norths tried to relocate, if the NRL had shown some sense in 1999 and kept 16 teams (instead of whittling it down to 14), Souths would've made the cut, Balmain would've made the cut on their own........and we would now have the Central Coast Bears, 6 years and counting. Every other team that got the arse in October '99 is in the NRL in some form, and the only way the NRL can truly rectify the rort that took place then is by finally letting the Bears achieve their dream of playing on the Central Coast.

I don’t know about rorts. If you think there was a rort, you may need to talk to Bob Saunders, Ray Beattie or Jim Henry. The trouble is, North Sydney League Club is not willing to support the Bears on the Central Coast and the local Central Coast Division does not want North Sydney running their Junior Representative Teams. The NRL never put the North Sydney Club into administration, it was the North Sydney Committee. I wonder what effect the player’s performance in the 1999 season had in putting the club into administration. Maybe too much time spent on organising BBQ’s than actually playing well to guarantee the future.

The only way a team will ever play out of the Central Coast in the next 5 years, is if a Sydney club starts to go under with the weight of the new poker machine tax. The NRL have already stated that the competition is going to stay at 16 teams in the short term.

The Central Coast is about as much chance to be lost to soccer or rah rahs as Rouse Hill/Kellyville or the new land release area at Bringelly being lost to soccer or rah rahs. I would not be surprised is there is not the usual amount of NRL games at Gosford again this season that are well supported,

But with all the under the table payments News. Ltd made the former SuperLeague clubs (of which many of them would not have been able to survive otherwise), the same should have been done for the Bears. That is why the 14 teams decision was a rort- it wasn't judges fairly and some clubs were given preferential treatment over others (like Souths).

None of those payments were under the table payments. The money those clubs received from News Ltd was out in the open. Those payments were payouts for contracts those clubs signed with News Ltd. The friends of the ARL in the media tried to make out clubs like Canterbury, Cronulla and Penrith were signing up to $2 shelf companies and would get nothing. Bit different to when the ARL clubs went and chased up Optus for all outstanding money owed. Bit hard for the Bears to get a News Ltd payout when they didn’t sign up with News Ltd.

How much money did North Sydney put themselves into administration for?

Good on the A-league I say. I have followed the season and think it's great they're doing so well.
i agree. i think the quality of the game has been the best its ever been at national club level. on the whole, matches have been fast, exciting and so many 'ripper' goals have been scored.

And of course it had good atmosphere. This is futbal not eggball.
well thats football for ya... you can be a hooligan all you want with the chanting and the singing and trying to bait opposition supporters with slurs and gestures...

but with league... its all about going to the football with your family on sunday afternoon... sitting on the hill with your family eating a meat pie, drinking your beer and cheering your team on...

Great crowd out there, passionate supporters and a tremendous atmosphere.

I hope the NRL was watching that, funny what can happen if the team is actually your local team, not imports.

I fear tonight trail crowd will be low though, because of the manly factor.
