Do not be suprised to see Voss nail down his own radio program in the next couple of years and I'm not talking about a sports show either.

Vossy to go head-to-head with the Parrot.

Saturation into several different markets is a good thing. I can only speak about Brisbane but if ABC/4BC on AM and Triple M on FM calling all games or simulcast is a good start. Up here we need more sports shows or a full time sports station

That's why I don't understand why there was that fixation with exculsivity.

He may have it sooner than you think.

Yep.

He's already filled in on the breakfast shift and from all reports did very well.

Anything would be better than that Dicko and whoever train wreck 2ue has on at the moment. What are they thinking?

Breakfast would be a big move for Voss. Although clearly a much better option than Dicko.

Would be nice to have a rugby league guy on air in that position.

from page 5 of yesterdays FIN

Southern Cross has secured a five-year radio broadcast deal with the NRL starting this season which will see its Triple-M network broadcast four games per week, from Friday through to Monday.

Under its previous NRL deal, Southern Cross only had Monday night games

I know. Sarah Maurice (however it is spelt) is a lightweight. This combo is worst than when they had Sandy Aloisi and that union wanker on at the same time

According to the FIN the deal is still unsigned but it's pretty much a done deal

main prob being 4BC refusing to air games in Brisbane like they have in the past seeing it appears they lost out to 2GB

Mustn't be too bad, seeing as Girds tweeted a pic of his NRL Media Pass yesterday, and the report suggested MMM's coverage details will be announced on Monday

They have definitely been stalling though, the build up to an 'announcement' has lasted an eternity it seems.

it isn't too bad

from the FIN article i was talking about which was on page 1 on the 28th

John Singleton?s Macquarie Radio Network and Southern Cross Media?s Triple M network are already selling advertising in the belief they will each broadcast four games a week. Yet neither company has a formal contract finalised.

?We?re in the final stages of completing the radio contracts,? an NRL spokesman said. ?It?s pretty clear who the major radio partners are but there?s still a number of issues that have to be finalised.?

A Southern Cross spokeswoman said: ?We have an agreement in principle from the NRL that allows us to go to market.?

A major sticking point for Macquarie, which owns 2GB in Sydney, is getting access to a Brisbane radio station. In the past, Macquarie has used 4BC, owned by Fairfax Media (publisher of The Australian Financial Review), to broadcast its coverage in the Queensland capital. But Fairfax, which bid for the NRL radio rights and appears to have lost out, is refusing to continue that arrangement.

?We remain very interested in having a broadcast relationship with the NRL, in particular with 4BC and 2UE [in Sydney],? the chief executive of Fairfax Radio Network, Adam Lang, said.

Very interesting. Could Fatty and Gibbsy be calling a game????

I hope 4BC sticks to their guns.

Meet Triple M's NRL Commentary Team

Triple M is the new home of NRL in 2013 and to to call the footy we've got the best line-up of NRL experts ever.

Peter Sterling

The most respected voice in Rugby League, Sterlo was one of the great halfbacks of all-time. His trophy cabinet includes 4 premierships with the Parramatta Eels, 2 Dally M Medals and the prestigious Golden Boot Award.

Andrew Johns

Rugby League’s 8th Immortal, Joey is widely considered the greatest player in the modern era. He’s the halfback for Australian Team of the Century, in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and has a trophy cabinet that includes 3 Dally M Medals and 2 Golden Boot Awards.

Matty Johns

Rugby League’s most accomplished media personality, Matty has his finger on the pulse of the NRL. A larger than life character, Matty won the 1995 Rugby League World Cup, the famous 1997 ARL Grand Final and also stars on Triple M Sydney’s “The Grill Team”

Gorden Tallis

They don’t call him “The Raging Bull” for nothing. Gorden was the most feared man in the country when he was playing, and when he wasn’t tossing Brett Hodgson around the Origin arena like a ragdoll, Gordy was winning 3 premierships with the Broncos, captaining Australia and Queensland, and generally wreaking havoc on the field.

Mark Geyer

Big MG was Rugby League’s ultimate bad boy during his playing days, dominating his opponents physically week in, week out. Now he’s one of our game’s great family men who calls Western Sydney his home and wears his love of Rugby League on his sleeve every day.

Ryan Girdler

Girds was one of the original NRL pin-up boys. He holds the record for the most amount of points in a State of Origin game, as well as in State of Origin series. A premiership winner in 2003 with Penrith, Girds is one of the great wits in Rugby League.

Wendell Sailor

Big Dell is one of Rugby League’s biggest characters. The Broncos legend finished his career with the Dragons, but not before representing Queensland over 15 times, and Australia over 20 times.

Nathan Hindmarsh

If 330 first grade games for the Parramatta Eels, 17 games for New South Wales and 22 tests for Australia don’t impress you – know that he played 100% of those games with his pants half-way down his arse.

Bill Harrigan

Hollywood Harrigan joins team Triple M in 2013 to give you a unique insight into what happens in the minds of those with the whistle. The most accomplished Rugby League referee of all-time, Bill took control of 393 First Grade Games, 10 Grand Finals, 23 State of Origins and 22 Test Matches.

Paul Gallen

The current NSW and Cronulla Sharks captain, Gal is one of the toughest blokes ever to play the game, and he’ll be all over Triple M’s NRL coverage in 2013!

Robbie Farah

The current Wests Tigers captain, Robbie Farah will make his 64 tackles in Game 2 of the 2012 State of Origin series look average when compared with his performances on Triple M in 2013.

Willie Mason

One of the most out-spoken NRL players of all time, big Willie Mason will bring his 13 State of Origin appearances, 24 Australian caps and over 200 First Grade Games to Triple M when he joins us in 2013.

Brett Finch

Finchy is one of the great characters in the NRL and will be Triple M NRL’s resident Melbourne spy for season 2013.

Dan Ginnane

Triple M’s resident NRL expert, and will call a number of games, as well as hosting The Rush Hour and Sydney’s Dead Set Legends.

Anthony Maroon

Maroon is part of the furniture at Triple M, and will call a number of games in 2013.

Tony Squires

There’s nobody better at bringing out the most outrageous behind-the-scenes yarns from footy players than Tony. A highly successful media figure, Tony’ll drive the bus in The Offload on Saturday’s.

Ben Dobbin

Dobbo hosts the Dead Set Legends in Brissy, and will bring his larger than life personality to our NRL coverage in 2013.

Andrew Webster

Webbie is the Chief Rugby League writer for Sydney’s Daily Telegraph. He’ll ensure Triple M NRL doesn’t miss a story in 2013.

Rugby League Week’s “The Mole”

Rugby League’s most mysterious journalist... all we know is he breaks more stories than the rest of ‘em!

Steve Mascord

Steve is the most respected journalist in Rugby League, and is a vital member of our NRL coverage in 2013.

Brent Read

Ready covers Rugby League for The Australian, and will bring his strong opinions and inside knowledge to Triple M NRL in 2013.
