 Stop it, ur killing me. If we're fickle, then why the f**k have we constantly been getting 16,17,18000 fans to our games this year?? And also, if we're fickle, how did we get 12,000 there last week when it was sh*thouse weather???

Because there is frig-all to do up there.

The reaction after Johns was injured in the 2002 qualifying final was appalling.

Whilst dragons supporters have the right to be frustrated - i'd hardly call them fickle. Being fickle implies that their feelings/opinions of towards the team changes. And all dragons fans i know, for as long as i can remember, have been in one state - frustrated .

Agreed. IMO a fickle fan would one moment be roasting their players as champions after a win, the next moment calling them unfit even for premier league following a loss. Our fans don't tend to turn on the players (apart from bemoaning their lack of commitment sometimes, and the occassional complaint about their injury proneness). Myself, and other saints fans I know, have always maintained a great deal of faith in our team's ability, we just go up and down based on whether those expectations are being fulfilled or not.

The only apparent "fickleness" (for want of a better word) is towards the players that leave the club. I enjoyed the "Capt. Charger" call on Friday night from a number of Dragons......

Dragon fans are pretty loyal and will turn up no matter what.

Penrith's pretty fickle. After a bad loss you can expect to see a small crowd the next week. String a couple of wins together and you'll get a full house.

Newcastle.

A few years ago they barely got a bus load of fans to come down to watch a semi final after Johns was injured the week before.

I Think every club has it's fair share of fickle supporters. If I can use Penrith as an example, - (Even though I hate admitting that we do have fairweather support) - In the early rounds, when we still had a chance, Penrith Stadium Crowd attendances were notching the 18,000 mark. Last Saturday night our home-ground attendance against the Eagles was just over 12,000! While out of finals contention and running 3rd last in the Competition, the fairweather f*ckwits decide to go somewhere else or stay home! All 6,000 of them!

I'd nearly say our own Warrior fans - such pathetic crowd numbers, and some helluva naive anti Warriors sentiment in many parts of New Zealand... The Ericsson shuffle was also hella prevelant in the days when we had crowds.

But, a corker for me is a certain Parramatta fan in 2003 v the Warriors at Parra Stadium, we're leading by 10 I think with 15 to go, the kid has been going hoarse all day given it to the "Coconuts" and waving his pixie little flag, 15 to go he and his old man waltz out of the stadium, not making eye contact with anyone, not muttering a word, in complete in utter trance like disappointment.

Meh, I laugh at them on the way out and tell them not to let the door hit their ar$e on the way out (not that they'd have heard but... meh), and there I am, with 3 seconds to go watching a horror bounce in the in goal going to Parramatta to give them a last second victory. They left 15 minutes early, I was glued to the seat in disbelief for 15 minutes after the game.

And there is what exactly to do in the Shire!!!!!! Btw keep in mind the Sharks and Knights average home crowds are about the same this year. The Knights get 17,000 when they've only won 2 games all year, yet the Sharks can only manage 17,000 when they're in contention for the finals. Pretty ordinary performance from the Sharks fans (fickle mob).

Come on man the weather wasnt to bad for the 1st grade game but I agree with you when you say that the Knights fans arent fickle, they are truely loyal to there team, I mean who would really watch a football team if it had the problems that the Knights have had this year, only the real supporters!

Yeah mate, couldn't agree more. But for those who say we're fickle ....................

Parra fans by a nose from us dragons supporters. They call for Brian Smiths head when there's a loss or two, and if its not him its fitzgerald. They've been crying the same tune for years. And if you've ever been amongst them at Parra stadium when they are losing, they sound like a bunch of divorced housewives at a lemon sucking contest.

As for the Dragon army, loyal as we are, I cringe every time we have a loss on the weekend, then listen to countless callers on the radio bagging anyone and everyone. I know its not all of us, but just cop the loss and be done with it, all the whingeing sounds pathetic. Yeah, we've underperformed & like many Ive wanted to chuck my jersey at times but you've just got to live with them, and I still love em.

But we are the two biggest fan based clubs in sydney, and do turn up.

Manly fans hardly existed when they were losing.

They began winning again and wearing a Manly jersey was the latest craze.

They're dwindling out now though.

As a Souths supporter, I can say we are NOT fickle. In fact we are one of the staunchest (is that a word?) group of supporters in the NRL. After 15 years of ineptitude, averaging 10,000 to a game with the odd 6,000 crowd isn't that bad.

For all those saying look at the support Newcastle have been getting... consider being that bad for 15 years, and see how many you'd get.

I will say one thing about Souths though.... we have THE BIGGEST BUNCH OF BANDWAGONERS in the comp! But the core group of about 10,000 supporters are staunch!

i think that every team has their fickle fans .. for example there are already people getting ready to boo Ashley Harrison and sing abusive songs to him at the games and turn their backs on him which i think is appalling because he has been our number 1 since the day he signed .. its disappointing losing the players you love to have with your team but theres always a bright side .. that gap left open can be filled by a junior that wouldnt have had a chance otherwise .. i have known alot of people who have short memories when it comes to losing, winning and also losing players .. but i will say that the best fans in the NRL imho are the Knights fans :D
