I think they also played 1 game at Subiaco Oval because the Sheffield Shield Final was being played at the WACA

In our short and not so illustrious history the Western/Perth Reds played at:
North sydney Oval (now nib stadium) (1 game 1997 and some pre season trials)
WACA (main ground and a terrible RL experience!)
and played a couple of games at Bassendean Oval (pre season trials)

They were discussing with Burswood to play games indoors at the Burswood dome at one point as well!

Do you mean North Perth Oval?

Did you play any premiership games at Bassendean?

I won't add temporary venues to the above list

e.g. Manuka Oval was used once or twice for Raiders
Homebush a couple of times for Bears
ANZ used very occassionally for Parra
SFS used for Wests Tigers
Subiaco for Perth

Before the Cowboys were admitted in 1995 I'm pretty sure Dairy Farmers Stadium was a trotting venue. The non sponsor name is still Willows Sports Complex.

Yep. As beave said it was called Stockland Stadium for the first couple of years than Malanda (Milk) Stadium for year or so then after Malanda Milk got bought out Dairy Farmers.

Shark Park has gone through a fair few "corporate" name changes over the years also?

The Docklands Stadium in Melbourne has gone from Telstra Dome to Colonial Stadium to Etihad Stadium, before I moved to Melbourne in 09 I thought that was four seperate venues.

Did the Tigers or the Dogs play a few games at Concord Oval at one point?

You can add belmore for stgeorge and arguably SCG. If you see stgeorge Illawarra as a continuation of stgeorge, then you can add SFS, ANZ and WIN.

The NSWRL only 3 had venues 1908-09, and any given club could've been allocated any ground - Showground, Birchgrove & Wentworth.

Fair to say though Balmain had Birchgrove, Glebe had Wentworth, Souths & Easts had Showground, and everyone else had no home ground. Newcastle had 3 games in 1909 at Newcastle Showground.

In 1910 Norths gained NSO, Newtown got Metters, Wests got St Lukes (Concord).

Wests lost St Lukes 1911-12 & were again homeless til Pratten Park in 1913-14, then St Lukes 1915-19, then back to Pratten again.

Newtown had Metters 1911-12, but were then all over the shop, finally settling at Marrickville from 1925.

Norths were again without a ground 1916-17 (presumably due to WW1 needs) & 1923 (not sure why, but have recollection of reading that someone forgot to renew the Council lease and the RU beat them to it). Norths held some games at Chatswood Oval mid 1930s.

Souths varied across the 3 Moore Park venues 1908-48, then Redfern 1949 onwards.

Easts varied across the 3 Moore Park venues, though had Trumper Park in 1915.

Balmain had Birchgrove, used Drummoyne Oval during 1932-34, and the latter season was also first games at Leichhardt.

Glebe had Wentworth Park, but had no home ground for 1920-24.

Annandale generally had Wentworth Park (shared with Glebe), but in final season (1920) had Birchgrove (shared with Balmain).

St George gained Earl Park in 1925, before that they were not settled, though some in that first era were at Hurstville Oval.

University could've played anywhere, but Pratten Park does appear quite frequently for their home games. As stated earlier, Uni did not get to train or play on the Univ oval or ground - the only exception to that was in 1930 when the Australian Universities RL team played the touring NZ Kiwis (who won 18-12).

I was sure one of the versions of the Gold Coast played at Chris Cunningham Field which was later renamed/known as Seagulls Stadium, although itmay have been a situation where the ABC referred to it by that name to avoid mentioning a sponsor's name.

right, mind my ignorance but where was the old Cumberland oval?? On the same site as Parra stadium?? or was that area in Parra parkland?

Same site. I think the current site is actually narrower as it was also used for cricket

Canterbury also once defiled Parramatta Stadium in 95 or 96. They played a game against Manly there - imagine the two arch enemies playing on our turf? Due to massive disgust at Canterbury's alignment with Super League, lots of Parra fans turned up to cheer on Manly - making it the only time ever they have been cheered away from Brookie!

I believe i have read that season 1923 was played in town [sports ground and scg] as the league decided that they were a showcase team of the era and should be exposed to a bigger audience [pre Harbour Bridge Sydney]. That said, NSDRLFC and the Council is a hundred year saga and its more than possible to suggest Norths got gazumped - but not by the rugger types [as the RU always shared the ground from 1910 on] - i think the Victorian code - as its in 1923 that Aussie rules secured both NSO No.1 and No.2 for the first time.

Chatswood Oval was a match a year 1934 to 1936, two in 1933.

We took at match to Lang Park in the year of the great disaster, against the Cows.

Whilst Penrith have always played at Penrith Park / Stadium, there has been a small handful of "away" home matches - the ones I know (there could be more) is two in Darwin in 1991 and 1992, one in Perth in the 1994, one at Homebush in 2004 and one in Adelaide in 2006.

The Sydney (Balmain) Tigers played their home games in 95 and 96 at Parra Stadium too in the hope to attract more fans than at Leichhardt.

Great stuff Sean.
