Iā€™m sure there are some that take that position. Donā€™t think for a second everyone else has that opinion. Others would see it as Manly emphasising that anyone is welcome at their club, regardless of their sexual orientation. Itā€™s their club, they can do what they want and use whatever meaning behind the inclusion of some rainbow colours on their uniform as they see fit. Why should a subset of the populationā€™s association of a rainbow Flag dictate what they take it to mean?
I said some people so obviously I don't think all people see it that way. How big that group is I think you're underestimating. And Manly can attempt to use whatever definition they prefer but not everyone will accept that. In any case they seem to agree they got it wrong in some aspects and will change tack. Good for them.

All Blacks wore a jersey which was black, yet when pulled revealed a rainbow.

All Blacks, the New Zealand menā€™s national rugby team, and the Black Ferns, the New Zealand womenā€™s national rugby team, to carry this important message about diversity and inclusion

Possibly, but I think youā€™re also underestimating the size of the other group. As I said, itā€™s their club though so they can choose whatever definition they like and if merkins donā€™t want to participate they are entitled to find other employment. Iā€™ll agree with the last two sentences though.

It's 2022. Everyone would already have felt welcome at the club. They don't have a no gays policy. It would be illegal.
This is where your complete lack of understanding on this topic shines through. Itā€™s as much about letting their fan base know that they are welcome more than their legal obligations. As @Noise posted last night, there were some banners from the Christian viewpoint at the game last night.

My mate is at the game. There are a bunch of people with some err, ā€˜Christianā€™ view point signs.

Well there have been people putting shit on Parra fans at every away game I've ever been to. It doesn't mean I didn't feel welcome. I know the rival club wants my money. What their fans think doesn't matter.

If nobody rejected wearing it then it barely gets a mention untill game day and probably a few words. Most wouldn't notice or care.
And plenty of jersey would still be for sale. Instead it sold put days ago.

It's misleading to call this a Christian view. The majority of countries that still ban homosexuality are predominantly Muslim, and homosexuality was still illegal in Mao's China until 1997. The attempt to portray opposition as a uniquely Christian thing is in line with the general progressive effort to rewrite history. In fact the Christian opposition to homosexuality is a holdover from its origins in Judaic law. However Judaism is seen by progressives as a potential ally against Christianity, in much the same way progressives use Islam as well as Chinese Communism.

and again, the fact youā€™ve used that example only highlights it further.

Not at all, because modern opposition to rainbow flags and the like is only in response to its continued promotion by the moneyed establishment. There is now a perception by traditional cultural groups that the 'knowledge class' (privileged atheists) is promoting one aspect of diversity at their expense.

I think the ā€˜moneyed establishmentā€™ as you put it can see that weā€™re still a way off where we need to be as a society.

Well obviously they want to support the demographics with more favourable spending habits over the ones who spend less.

Thatā€™s your pride round right there!!! When youā€™re up against it and beat the competition leaders.

I donā€™t care about your rainbow.

I donā€™t care what you get up to in the bedroom.

I donā€™t care what your sexually preferences are. Even if youā€™re not exclusive to one.

I donā€™t care if your born a male and now a female.

honestly, I donā€™t even care if you watch nrl. Nor do I care if youā€™re not included.

The point is that many do. There's your problem.
Many people see it as support
Most, if not all.
and celebration.
Very few outside of those who it directly relates to or those who insist thereā€™s a problem with wearing certain colours.

The vast majority are going to look at the jersey and think ā€œtheyā€™re recognising there are gay peopleā€, then theyā€™re going to laugh/be seen as outraged/discuss the controversy/not give a f**k when it blows up in the media, and then forget it was ever a thing between now and end of season, dependent on how much they follow NRL
