The same with shite like MAFS. My ex and kids love it, but it isn't my cup of tea. I've never watched 1 minute of any episode because the whole pretense of the programme I find shameful. Once again, I distance myself from such shite and don't feel it is being shoved in my face.

It's not just the parade I am referring to. It is the fact we've allowed American garbage to influence our country far to much. They are off their heads and out of control.

I just miss growing up in the 80s. I loved the European way of life. You lived quietly and didn’t want to much attention. You remained humble about your success.

I feel Americas way is about promoting yourself. The biggest, the best. Get rich or die trying.
You should only ever take what you need in life.

I know this is off topic. I just miss the old ways of life and find the world to much in my face now and I am struggling to keep up with it all being an introvert.

Even my 90 yo mum and my recently departed 88 yo dad were more forward thinking and accepting than that, due to a family circumstance of trans.
And Dad was and mum still is, the strongest of every Sunday church going Catholics. Go figure?
The more you shelter your kids, the more ignorant, intolerant and unaccepting they will be as adults. Sad really.
You better take their phones off them because one day they will find this stuff out for themselves and hopefully, make their own decisions, which will be of a more accepting and compassionate nature.

Mate it's everywhere, on the news, ads, tv shows pretty much on every medium.

As i have mentioned before my brother is gay, he came out in the mid 90's when it actually meant something and when it was actually brave. When he came out it was a big deal, he tried to take his own life before he did and he was that fed up he realised he had to be true to him. He was so worried about what other people thought about him. He made himself sick just thinking about what my father and the whole family would think. Both me and my dad sort of knew and were proud of him. He has been living with his partner for almost 20 years and both of them voted no for the marriage plebiscite it was disgusting the abuse the both of them copped. Most of it from straight white rich virtue signallers. There is an agenda being pushed and i can't believe people can't see it. My brother is over this movement that has been pushed and a lot of it is not from LGBTQ+ people.

This week is the 45th anniversary of when the Sydney 78's rose against the haters to protest against the discrimination that they, undeservedly, were forced to deal with by their community and even at law.

The haters are less in number these days (refer SSM non binding just pretending that we mean well vote that was designed to fail but didn't) however it's pretty clear that there remains a small percentage who feel the need to sledge people who are different to them, whilst bravely hiding behind social media anonymity.

Like the mental health thread, I thought the Pride thread would be a place where sensitive discussion could take place. An acknowledgement that LGBTQI+ peeps probably exist as members on this site, most definitely are love ones of members on this site and without a doubt are members of the NRL community as players, staff etc.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and their free speech. It's a shame however that people are not careful as to where they express their free speech, when they know it may very well insult or vilify.

What if you were told by those in power that the people involved with MAFS should be proud of it, and that you should support them? It's a bit different from just avoiding certain media orgs. We are talking about social movements that the media can't avoid reporting on. Even government and corporations are involved.

My favourite neighbours are the two Gay men and the lesbian across the road. I go over her place for dinner every few weeks. I even cooked her rabbit. Great person.
And the Gay men invite me around for a beer. They are nice.

I don't care to much for the rest of the neighbours. I'm sure they are fine but not very welcoming in comparison.

But I have been called a homophobe by a MOD which I don't get. I live in the inner west. Its the capital of the whole LGBTQ+ movement. I am not as well spoken as many on here so perhaps my voice and opinion gets mixed in the wash a little and I don't get my point of view across how I mean.

I just miss growing up in the 80s.

I miss that too. The innocence of the 70's/80's was beautiful as a kid and then teenager.
But the world has changed. If we don't change with it, we will be left behind.
I for one, am changing with it, making my own judgements and being as accepting of change as I can be at my age. I may not like a lot of what is happening, but I cannot change it.
I've chosen not to lose sleep over these changes. My now late teenage aged kids have phones and will find whatever they want to find on a small device they can hold in their hand. Like any kids, they are also subject to peer pressure from both friends and enemies.
I trust the fact that both myself and the ex have instilled in them the highest levels of tolerance and acceptance of all races, religious creeds and those of differing sexual or even political preferences.
I've seen nothing from either of them that suggests that they will go down any other path.

If people don't think this isn't being pushed buy a video game, read a comic book or even watch most main stream media. It's being pushed to the max. But yeah we just need to avoid all this...........

One of my sons is gay, married, too. The other is hetero, not that there's anything wrong with that. We have a great relationship with both sons and do our best to keep it that way. I'll admit this, I was caught unawares when our son told us he was gay. But when I thought about it and how he thought he could sit down and tell us about his sexuality told me more about our relationship with our kids than I ever expected. He's well adjusted, happy enough and working hard for his $$$. Too bad he's a vego, unlike his carnivore brother (and parents).

Mate it's in all the movies, all the comics, ads and even in media. It's been infested by people like Gronk. Who hate straight white men and anyone who is normal. Companies like Disney push all this shit and then they thank China after movies where they film near concentration camps and shrink black actors in posters(Finn in the Star Wars movies) or cover their faces like Black Panther in China. It's all BS, they don't believe it or give a f**k about it but it doesn't stop them attacking people who just want to be normal or are over being lectured. Look at the backlash over the new Hogwarts legacy game, just because they chose to play a game that has something to do with J K Rowling, Death threats lol ffs!! It's not so easy to avoid anything anymore.
