Being Vegan is what you should worry you the most. Thats the thing me and a few others are being labelled phobes or Ism's yet i have dealt with my brother being gay for almost 30 years. I don't see it as such a big deal, after 30 odd years there are far more things to be worried about. It's hilarious a straight white man like Gronk gets more upset and pushes his opinion than real gay people. Quality virtue signalling Gronky.

It’s great that you support your brother and see it as no big deal. But yours is just one story which luckily is a positive one. How many other stories out there are negative ones?

I have no problems with gays or lgb community. I just don’t need it thrown in my face for a month plus. I don’t promote my sexuality or beliefs or force them upon anyone.

You just likened them to pedos, drugs and pornography.
You obviously do have a problem with them. Otherwise you wouldn’t care about them having a festival which you don’t even have to take part in.

Oh but you have to see some banners, balloons and some stuff on the news? You poor thing.

I'm not trying to twist your words. You are achieving that all on your own. That's the 2nd time you've claimed that and I'm doing nothing of the sort. Yet twice you have refused to answer my question as to what you consider is normal.
So your brother did it tough eh? I have absolutely no doubt he did and I feel sorry for him that during this difficult time so long ago, it was not considered acceptable to be who he was and be proud of it. It was a terrible time back then to come out as being gay, let alone trans. Just ask someone as brave as Ian Roberts was.
Thankfully, times are changing and now this community finally have a voice which is less likely to be vilified.
For your brother's sake, who I see as a somewhat hero and brave, this is something to celebrate.
So what if it is less than 10% of the population?
And by the way, fyi, I can guarantee you they don't choose this lifestyle. Just another example of your ignorance. It's sad that with your experience with your brother, you don't even know that.
My ignorance?? Lol as said I’m pretty much conveying my brothers words and opinion. I’m sure a 50 year old middle class white straight man knows all about his struggles and what gay people actually think.

I’ve been to 25 plus birthday parties with all his gay friends and had an absolute ball. They are just regular people like you and me and most of them I’ve spoken too are kind of sick of all these virtue signaling f**kwits belong offended on their behalf. Are you one of these people?? Kind of sounds like it.

I’ll let my brother know all the good people on the Parra forum getting offended on his behalf. It will be very exciting for him!!

Don't apologise for having an opinion mate, it's the people who are labelling you a ist,ism or phobe with the problem.

If people don't think this isn't being pushed buy a video game, read a comic book or even watch most main stream media. It's being pushed to the max. But yeah we just need to avoid all this...........

This ‘agenda’ you speak of it what exactly?
That comic and movie creators want to tell stories about women, non-white people and LGBT+ people? What’s wrong with that?
Like Suity said you can just not watch them if you don’t want to.

But I’m guessing that your problem is that they are taking what used to be mediums that you love that rarely covered these topics (superhero comics and movies, sci-fi, fantasy) and now that’s all they seem to be. Even though there’s still plenty of white, straight, male characters in those mediums you can watch.

My bro is a bit older and he’s sort of over all the BS that comes with being gay, he thinks it’s funny all these straight people getting offended on his behalf. He fought his battles when it was needed and he thinks it’s ridiculous how people are demonised for their opinions. He even laughed over the Manly situation, he said I’m free to her gay and live my life while they are free to believe in a fake person. Is he a bigot too for saying that???

Pick up a comic book and have a look, I have no problem with diverse characters whatsoever but this agenda to push diversity no matter what is killing the entertainment industry. I have to laugh anyone who questioned Awful Mary Sue Characters like Rey from Star Wars or Galadriel from the terrible Rangs of Powah are labeled scared of strong female characters. Most of the same people who hate these new awful female characters loved Sarah Conner, Ripley from Alien or Leia from Star Wars. If you are happy with your entertainment being destroyed with horrible one note character’s and terrible writing that’s fine but don’t expect me too.

No I wouldn’t say that he is.
You are finding a lot your opinion comes from you brother I guess, which makes sense because he is close to you. He has lived through a lot and can have whatever opinion he likes on the subject.

But he is just one (okay not really just one, there are plenty who think the same as he does), whereas there are many stories, thoughts and opinions to be told and heard. Without doing any actual research on this (because it’s late and I’m lazy) I’m going to guess that the majority of gay people are glad that they are finally getting recognised and celebrated as opposed to shunned and mocked.

At least the ones I know are. I know a few.

I never said he wasn’t glad he isn’t shunned or mocked anymore. But he’s over fake people being offended for him. Look at this thread it’s full of straight people being offended because someone has a different opinion to them. As I said my bro came out when it was hard and it actually meant something now it seems like the latest fad. But maybe he and his group are a little older and over all the BS. I’m sure that’s not how all gay people feel but it’s how most of him and his group feel. I still hate the fact when I go over to his house or to his friends house for a B’Day I’m stuck listening to f**king Kylie Minogue. I think that’s something we can all agree on.

I'm glad we sorted that out then.
They (your word) are normal like you and I.
End of discussion

Lol keep trying to twist my words. I’ve shown my brother this thread and he is overjoyed at all the straight people being offended for him. He wonders where all you amazing people were in the 90’s when it was hard to do what he did. It’s now cool and hip to be an ally.

I think you have more of a problem with the writing in these shows and movies as opposed to the diversity of the characters.

I saw nothing wrong with having a female and black lead in the new Star Wars films. Sure it was a bit silly that she was a bit too good at everything, but I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. Rise of Skywalker was not a very good movie though. I don’t blame that on any diversity issues, just bad writing.

I’ve only seen 5 episodes of Rings of Power so far, but as I understand it Galadriel is centuries old and is a commander of their armies. I don’t really see the problem with that. What’s the issue there?

Would you like a well-written show about diverse characters? A show about a gay couple who adopts a disabled black muslim but it’s like the most awesome show on TV? Would you watch it, or dismiss it because ‘forced diversity’?

I will be offended for those that do take offence to some of this shit. And there are still plenty of them in the world.

Also, Kylie Minogue was pretty f**ken hot back in the day. Just make sure he’s playing the videos along with the songs and at least it ain’t all bad.

In the 90s I was a teenager, probably calling people fa***ts and r***rds.

I want to make sure my kids will not be doing the same.

Mate if you enjoy forced diversity with horrible writing that’s great but it’s not for me.

But all this BS how there were no female, leads or no POC in movies or leads is absolute BS. It’s totally diminishing people like Sidney Pointier. Pam Greer, Sam Jackson etc etc. When Black Panther came out we were told it was the first Black super hero character which was BS because they totally forgot about Wesley Snipes in Blade.

Or that imbecile Jennifer Lawerence telling us all she was the first female lead in an action movie. So glad the awesome Sigourney Weaver set her straight.

The more I think about Peter Jackson made the LOTR trilogy at the perfect time that avoided all the forced diversity cringe but still had the effects that made them so visually spectacular. I refused to watch the ROP for that reason I knew they were going to wreck the source material.

This thing is what killed the Mulan remake. In the 1998 animated film she is an average women who joins to save her dad who will just be cannon fodder and because she is a women she can't keep up with the men and gets her ass kicked quite a few times but grows into a formidable soldier by working hard and using her intellect to be effective in battle. In the remake she is a girl boss with superpowers who just succeeds because she is invincible and instantly better then the most trained accomplished men. Took me only 5 minutes to hate that movie. My 12 year old niece told me she hated the remake but loved the original for the same reason.

Who on here is saying that’s fine?? Big difference from people saying they are sick of all this stuff being shoved down their throats and it’s being ok to abuse someone because their sexuality. I’m pretty sure no one on here thinks that’s ok. Hasn’t stopped people on here labeling us all bigots and homophobes.

Well we can’t account for everyone. Some people just say stupid shit.
I used to say the same thing about Blade. That movie was awesome.

Those black actors you mentioned are all great, but you have to admit were a pretty small minority. Pam Grier was pretty much only in B-movie exploitation flicks, not exactly a star of big budget Hollywood stuff until Jackie Brown.

So when is diversity in a movie not ‘forced diversity’?

It’s all forced these days, I mean they even attack something like Cobra Kai because it’s lack of diverse characters. Which is funny because the main character is Italian and the legacy character who is treated with absolute respect is Japanese. It’s just a great well written show which respects the laws with a heap of characters from different back grounds and genders. But not enough diversity apparently. No one seemed to care to much about the gender or race of any character back in the day as long as they were well written and added to the story. Now it’s all about their gender and who they f**k.

I never said that anyone was fine with things like that.
Was just saying that it wasn’t so long ago that it was just ‘playground banter’ to say shit like that, but thankfully it is now seen by most as disgusting behaviour. I look back and am horrified at some of the shit I used to say, and I wasn’t even close to what some of my school mates were like.

Having said that, there are some people out there who wish that we could all go back to a time when ‘people could take a joke’ and you could say whatever you wanted. We just had @hindy111 saying that he loved growing up in the 80s…I’m sure he did, because he’s not gay.
