The Return of Gasnier?

Its been known for a while we have extra cash for 2011 and 2012 and Doust has spoken about a weighted back end contract

we have a whole heap of stars coming off contract 2011 so the money will be there

it's up to him what he wants to do

I hear he wants to play league with us though

my best guess would say he's an 80% chance of him signing till the end of 2012

and who do the saints bump for this guy?

does he come back to make some spare cash whilst waiting for the rebels to get up and running?

if he wants to come back to league and commit for a few years then thats fine, if he wants to make some cash for 6 months before pissing off again then he can go f**k himself

i believe the nrl is better with him in it, but he's gotta want to come back and play the game

Spot on. He either commits to the game long term or not all.
This could set an interesting precedent if St George / NRL allow Gasnier to come back for 6 months - IF that is the case.

how is it a precedent?? players sign 1 year contracts all the time.

if St's sign him on a 6 month contact the NRL wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

hes a free agent.

The only thing stopping him from signing a 6 month contract is how much money he wants.

The Saints would love him back...it'd get more people through the gates.

It's a shame they play at 18k stadiums.

No it isn't.

Its a shame the Roosters have no soul and play out of a 45k stadium.

Its a shame the NSW Gov will fund a $100m Showground redevelopment for AFL but won't fund the $15m required to finish off the Jubilee Western Grandstand.

Its a shame the Western Sydney WC stadium will be at Blacktown, not Campbelltown

Its a shame the last TV rights were so low.

Could be the missing link to take the Dragons to the next level. Scott back in the 2nd row can only be good too.

like i said.... money shouldn't really be a problem.

he's out of season for Super Rugby and European Club Rugby... and even by the ARU's desperate standards they wouldn't sign him to an international contract and throw him straight into the wobblies.

he has 3 options...

1 he could sign with the dragons for whatever they can give him and play the rest of the year out in the NRL.

2 he could sign onto the only rugby competitions going at the time the Currie Cup in SA or NPC in NZ. which would be pointless as he would be out of Aus and earning less than the NRL.

3 he could sign a super15 contract with whoever... and sit on his arse until december when they go into pre-season

Dragons would be crazy to take Gasnier and pay him a sh*tload of money.

Reckon Bennett demonstrated with Poore that (a) he has a definite say in regards to who he wants & at what price, and (b) that he does not want the club paying 'overs' above what he thinks a player's true worth is.

And Gaz would have to know this.

Who needs Gasiner when you have.... Fitzhenry!

Seriously though, would be a great signing to whoever gets him and would be a great addition for the game. Was always one of my favourite players, watching him run down the sidelines, his head jolting back and forth. Awesome.

lol. Built on basically the same spot their 'traditional' ground was located. Essentially have been at the same spot since 1911, bar a strech at Henson Park whilst the SFS was being built

If they aren't using the cap, its probably because they don't have the money to do so.

Which means they wont be giving us big money to have him, plus pay him.
