The salary cap isn't perfect. It doesn't mean the Melbourne Storm club as an entity are not cheats though.
The issues are very seperate

True they are separate issues but I dont think you can say the club as a whole are cheats.
The whole thing is a farce anyway. This Gasnier thing highlights it. Rugby League needs to grow up and accept that sportsmen need to be paid the market rate. If not they will go elsewhere. They dont believe the same things the fans do, like loyalty.
Rugby League is the number one game in the most populous areas of Australia. There is no good reason why it doesnt have the most money. The shackles need to be thrown off and the game allowed to breath. All the other club officials saluting the penalties of the Storm are just looking out for themselves. Same old story and the reason why after 100 years rugby league has barely moved an inch.
The fans have been thrown a dummy. Someones getting rich and its not the players. The fans are being dudded by the admin letting quality players go off to strengthen competitor sports.
The current salary cap is so damaging. It has lost us enough players to field teams in Adelaide and Perth but we are led to believe its a good thing. There has to be an alternative. Its the administrators that are to balme, not the players.
How much does a CEO get paid? Nobody would dare suggest a CEO is overpaid "we need to pay well to get the best" That maxim doesnt apply if you are a rugby league footballer.
The Melbourne Storm as an entity are cheats. Whether all parties of that organisation are complicit to that act of cheating is another matter. The player roster is illegal therefor it is fraudulent. It is not a hard equation. This does not change that the organisation known as the Melbourne Storm cheated everyone in the game for in excess of 4 years of competition.
I am of the opinion that the matter of Rugby and AFL threats will be virtually non existant within the next few years. In regard to AFL they are a PR excercise and the reality is that very few NRL players are even suited to the game. That and they will find themselves in the position that the ARL has in that they know that the signings of Sailor, Tahu, Rogers and Tuquiri cost them alot for little return not only in terms of cash but in the harming of their junior base.
As for CEO's the Ceo is normally paid a wage fitting the companies ability to pay. It should tell you something that Gallop earns much less that any other administrator in the major codes.
Yes the pot should grow but until it does so this issue is an excuse for bitter old fools like Gould and Masters to hack in while offering no solutions because it's "not their job" to offer a possible sollution for the improvement of the game they say they love so much and a excuse for Storm supporters to tell themselves they were simply acting against an unjust system so they are not cheats. Perhaps some fans view them as revolutionaries
Yeah lets just throw away the cap and let Melbourne, Brisbane and the Rosters have all the best players in the comp!:lol:
