How do you know he will do it well. Risk I dont want to take.
Not over the moon, because it reeks of an old boy appointment getting thrown into the quick sand
We need an experienced coach first up
I still hope and believe this is media being put onto the wrong scent for good reason
So you wouldn’t have taken Fitzy?

Richo+Hasler+Brown also a good result.. but I suspect Richo+Hornby+Brown might be what we end up.. either way I think we can make it work with that GM and recruitment manager.. Richo is close with a lot of the player agents supposedly.. tbh I dont really know who the guy is, but he rebuilt Souths from the brink.. all be it with Rustys cash..

Richardson was involved in the Queensland Jets bit, which lost out to the Dolphins, he also is involved with his son in Rich Digital "experts in business strategy and brand growth"

So you wouldn’t have taken Fitzy?
Now I would but back then
No it would killed his career and would of been not a right match.
he waited sensibly and went to a club that was is in good shape, had a sound roster and lower grades, strong football department which has showed.
Added his input made 2 major signings in Hynes & Finucane good the right assistants and hit the ground running.
Ryles might turn out to be a great coach but i dont think we need a rookie with the crap football department we have ATM with some of the second grade or past player staff
It is not about Ryles who we know nothing about as a coach as he has never coached as far as i know,
its about what we need with what a new coach has around him

And he helped rebuild the Panthers in the day

What's everyone's opinion of Ryles coming to coach the Dragons?

I'm really not sure. Given our last three appointments, I thought we needed a very experienced coach hence I was preferring Flanagan then Hasler. I didn't what anything to do with our ex players.

If Ryles is selected, I will support him, but I need to see a hard edge from him with regard to the players, actual games plans, better recruitment, and an actual defence plan.
Payton/Fitzgibbon/Ciraldo......... All inexperienced with head coaching roles that haven't worked out too bad.

Ryles is easily the best candidate in my view. You can't call him a jobs for the boys appointment if it goes through, not many at the club even know him. Just because he played for us doesn't make the appointment bad, Hornby and Young are very different cases to Ryles even if they are all old boys. So for me I'd take Ryles in a heartbeat, but I do think an experienced GM such as Richardson is required, and Brown wouldn't be bad in recruitment.

Funny how some don't want old boys to coach the club but are happy for Brown and Flanno to come in and run recruitment and coach. I am sure they are ex Dragon's players.

I don't know what the answer is. Some say a coach that has come out of a good system. I am sure O'Brien and Holbrook spent time in the Rooster's system and other places but are hardly killing it in their current roles.

The important thing is the admin side has to be a well run machine to even have a chance of success and unfortunately I can't see us being in that situation.

We need to eliminate this old boy group. Manipulating our club for their own means.
Fat Albert eliminating himself.( one down)
Next is ridding ourselves of this toxic parasite DOUST.
Then start the search, to find a new partnership and
Remove these incompetent Gordon's .
Bring in Hasler,Richo& Brown. Now that's a good start moving forward.

We have been through this, you cant remove the Gordon's they are the owners. The only way to get rid of them is if they sell their share, thats it.

If required re sell.
This time don't let that scamming DOUST anywhere near the Deal.
Actually sack that imbocilic DOUST before he can f..ckup another deal.
Nah mate all good, even though I'd like to get rid of those guys just as much as everyone, its a hard gig, and I dont know what it would take.

Ryles will be a great appointment. Not that the Dragons did their due diligence correct as I really don't trust them at all after their last 3 appointments but I do trust the Storms. Nobody was after Price, Mary or Hook when Saints appointed the 3 clowns but Ryles apparently the Storm are very keen on so that is a big tick for me on that alone. Sad that Saints are Ryles 2nd choice but we should take what we can.

I am really interested to see if when the next HC role comes up and Hornby or Young are approached or considered by another NRL club or part of the short list at least.

I hope that rumour about Hook's last game this week is true. We can start looking forward to some footy again and get some hope for 2023. Having an Interim coach like Carr will be good as I am sure Ryles or whoever will be taking over in 2024 will be in his ear and advising him who to play so he can see if they fit into his plans for 2024. Carr will also be hoping to do well to be part of the 2024 coaching staff so won't go rogue.

Okay this is a rumours thread so for what it’s worth….. I Was told today from a person ( he’s a massive Knights fan) that Hook has been sacked and his last game in charge is this weekend game against the Cows, RCarr will take over from Monday as the club didn’t want to jeopardise Hunts 300 game, and Ryles has agreed to a 5 year deal starting next season.
Well that's sound OK , and hopefully it's right , but you know our mob .......

There is a bit of a story that Roosters dont like hanging on to staff members that have broken a contract, so it may be the case that Ryles joins immediately. Anyway we will see in about a couple of weeks. I would like to know though we have definitely nailed down Richo and Brownie.

Robbo seems genuinely fine and happy for Ryles to get his head coaching gig (at whichever club), but they might prefer just to break Ryles contract immediately.. as subconsciously Ryles:

o Has his time divided between 2 conflicting interests
o Will be looking for potential players to groom for the future
o Would probably no longer be in the inner sanctum of the roosters , nor is he in their future plans

I know Fitzgibbon coached out the year, but hes a special character by all accounts.. I suspect if the Roosters can find a replacement for Ryles, they might let him go immediately.. not to mention they aren't exactly killing it on the field anyway.

Having said all that, rumour is Ryles is still mulling over his choices anyway.. so he may well see out his 2024 contract yet and end up at the Storm.
