Spot on. Korbin Sims recently has not overly impressed me in regards to a prop busting the line and creating 2nd phase. He seems to get smashed in tackles and his brother is much better. This year Ah Mau is more damaging than him so for me we are losing slightly in replacing Ah Mau.
..but with Merrin yes Penrith payed overs based on hope and potential and people inflating his ego more than what he produced at the Dragons. People were inflating his tyres too early about how good he was going and how he was ready for origin and a great ball player, especially just after Weyman left. Then trying to be a ball player at all costs cruelled his form.
As a prop I would take Merrin back on Ah mau's money or thereabouts say up to 500K. I would consider that a win for recruitment.
I agree with your whole post. Merrin would have been a great replacement for AhMau, Korbin is a downgrade on Sims.

I think with regards to Korbin you have to consider he is just coming back from a broken jaw.
The Broncos are relying heavily on thier new young forwards.
Tariq was considered a fringe first grader at best when we got him.
Korbin is considered by better judges than me to be the best of the brothers.

I think Korbin is a great pick up and the Dragons and playing with his brother will turn him into a really great player.
I think Korbin was weak before he broke his jaw. I think many on this site are overrating Korbin. Watch him closely. He makes very little impact. He gets smashed running the ball.

Three years is a long time in my opnion, does Millward see something we don’t see

Potentially.
Potentially also was on coke and chips contract at broncs supposedly. So even double that would only be around the 250/300K mark which is acceptable

I thought Tariq was useless.
I thought signing a reserve grader from Canberra was stupid.
I've stop thinking now.

........ you mean, you've joined the Paul McGregor School of Thought?
It's a very short course but you do get free chocolates just for turning up on time.
Must be on time.
Time is everything.
Think its time to pour another sherbet!

Saint Jimmy, it was those very skills that you mention that made me ask when Merrin left just who would make the metres for us? Of course that was before we signed blokes like Vaughan and Tariq while Ah Mau, Frizell and de Belin have got stronger and stronger. I am surprised that Merrin has become just another forward at Penrith. Just as well he lost his SoO spot.

Merrin could be useful again if his attitude is right. Look at Woods - as just another forward in the Sharks'pack he looks fitter and playing much better than at Tigers, Dogs or in SoO. For those teams he could not match his inflated reputation.

Simply poor coaching has seen Merrin lose his SOO spot.

Does this sound familiar?

When he departed, I was more concerned by the absence of offloading ability from those who remained.

Depends on if it’s before or after a whole lot of craft beer.
Domestic or Imported craft beer.
I reckon if you are going to spend a bomb on beer you might as well drink the imported stuff from Europe, all this aussie craft shit is just hoppy overpriced rubbish brewed in Marrickville. Oh and put in a can with an edgy, crafty picture on it to appeal to the 18-30 year olds.
