The Rumours Thread

I wasn’t being harsh on Latimore. I still think he is good off the bench. Does his job very well.
What I meant to say that all that we have announced is an extension of one of our ISP players compared to other clubs signing established first grade players.
Let's be honest, we are not the most attractive club to come to play for at the moment.

Stats are not everything.
Roberts is a weapon. He puts fear in the opposition. He can score from anywhere. He is electric.
Lafai is bog average at best.
Aitken isn't a shadow of Roberts.
Just on Lomax, I too hope he lives up to the hype but one thing for sure, he is not that quick. I have seen him play a few times and he does not possess that explosive speed that Jimmy does.
Jimmy is a gun. As is Latrell Mitchell.

Hence the reason they had Lomax on intensive sprint work whilst he was off with his hand injury.

MATT DUFTY’S ASKING PRICE A BIT RICH
Matt Dufty's future at St George-Illawarra isn't as rosy as most would believe.

Contracted until the end of 2019, the Dragons attempted to start the process of extending Dufty's contract.

However, the young fullback's asking price is far beyond what the club is willing to pay.

Dufty's asking price also reflects a fullback who boasts a passing and kicking game - none of which he currently has in his arsenal.

Millward is not Known for over spending on players.
Dufty has a long way to go before he can demand Top Dollar.
We have plenty of juniors that could take his spot if given the chance

Would not pay over 500 for Dufty. If he wants more he better develop fast.

He will no doubt be a gun player but right now he's still young and learning, not ready for the big bucks yet

I am a big fan of Dufty. He is a very exciting player, but I am also quite aware of his deficiencies. Right now I would not be throwing him top dollar. I said at the start of the year that I thought Lomax was our best fullback prospect, and centre prospect too.

Dufty is a match winner and looks good when the rest of the team are playing well and defending well, but when we are playing badly, he gets exposed to the max. I would still take Ponga, Tedesco, Tom Turbo, Munster, Holmes and RTS over Dufty.

It all depends on what that price is?
This is still his first full year in first grade, next year if his form continues to improve and he really finds his feet and becomes the player most expect him to be, what's he worth then.
There are a lot of clubs out there with plenty of money to throw around and with the current shortage of true match winners, which Dufty has proved he is capable of being, if only occasionally at the moment. There is defiantly clubs out there willing to throw a lot of money at him.
Give him some of Lafais, Aitkens or Latimores money, they currently aren't earning it.

Plus I still believe the NRL needs a local junior cap discount, not just for long serving players.

Cheeky bugger. Must have listened to Saint Wayne and got carried away.

Can't see the club loosing him and if the club goes deep into the finals and he is a big part of that and it continues next year who knows, he may get his golden treasure or prefer bitcoin for the younger lads.

Wayne Bennett reportedly rejects job offer from Brisbane Broncos

After publicly denying any knowledge on Thursday night of an offer to take up a front-office job at the Brisbane Broncos in 2020, Wayne Bennett has revealed he has rejected the role.

According to The Courier Mail, Broncos chairman recently Karl Morris sent a written offer of a ‘senior administrative role’ to Bennett.

It is unclear whether the coach has informed the Broncos directly of his decision, but he told News Limited, ‘I don’t want a job like that’.

Bennett’s latest bombshell caps another tumultuous week at Red Hill as the seven-time premiership-winning coach reneged on his agreement to stay silent on his future until season’s end.

He publicly criticised management at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday over their public silence.

The 68-year-old then lashed the ‘fence-sitting’ media after his side’s 38-18 win over South Sydney Rabbitohs on Thursday night, declaring reporters are, ‘Better informed than I am’.

Broncos CEO Paul White then fronted the media on Friday morning for over 30 minutes to declare, among other things, that Bennett will coach the Broncos in 2019.

White also denied multiple reports the Broncos made a play for North Queensland coach Paul Green earlier this year.

He also dismissed separate stories this week stating South Sydney boss Anthony Seibold and former Rabbitohs mentor Michael Maguire have agreed to join the club.

Bennett last month tabled a proposal to the board that would see his current deal extended until the end of 2020 before hanging up the clip board on his historic career.

It was rejected.

That sparked a reported falling out between the coach and White and threatening to derail the Broncos’ 2018 season.

He was this week linked with a return to St George Illawarra, with Red V power brokers reportedly considering making a play for Bennett’s services from 2019

Interesting. His managers timing is way off as his form has dropped and the club is not prepared to pay overs considering he is not the full deal at present. Fair enough .

Dufty needs to pull his head in and start performing on the the field. He has been poor the last 8 weeks and we all know he has great potential but has a number of areas that all teams are exposing. Player managers give me the shiiits as they can derail a players career and cause split with player, coach and the team.

This is a circus and i’ll be very surprised he is there in 2019.

I reckon this is B.S....Absolutely loves our club...But if it is correct...Millward should stick to his guns make and offer and tell him that's it...
