That Shane Richardson guy at the Tigers doesn't muck around does he? He terminates Scott Fulton and he says that there will be more changes to be done in the next 30-40 days. He wants the club to be more commercially viable, putting in more structures for the betterment of long term operations and different ways of doing things in football.

The Tigers will be on a massive improve with him at the helm and I can see them well ahead of the Dragons in terms of maintaining good results over many years.

I was hoping that we could have lured Richardson to the Dragons more than 6 months ago when the Dragons sacked Griffin and had Ryles targeted as our head coach (thank goodness that didn't happen) because I think that our current and future squad would definitely be much better with Richo at the club. I'm sure that the likes of Haran and Millward would have gone.

Whether or not Richo was considered by the Board, the opportunity has now been lost. Maybe though, once Richo completes his interim time at the Tigers, we could snag him??

He only has a 6 month deal / contract with the Tigers expiring June 30

it was a question at the RedVee mbrs forum - I’m not sure they even had Ryles selected then.

I checked my notes from the meeting. The question was asked about Richardson as head of footy, and the response was it was "External Noise" and it was "Not Happening". I came away thinking he was never seriously approached if at all, and it was just the Telegraph making stuff up.

The Members Info meeting from memory was either the same day or the day after Hook was sacked so definitely no decision on a new coach had been made at that time.

Richardson was at the tiges 5min and look at what has happened, we have had Webb for how long and what has he done ? Not even in the same atmosphere as Richardson !!!

Richardson was at the tiges 5min and look at what has happened, we have had Webb for how long and what has he done ? Not even even in the same atmosphere as Richardson !!!

Richardson would have made the decision to sack all of the Board members and elect himself chairperson and the only person in charge of the Dragons - I only wished. Anyway, he won't be coming. Our members are way too stubborn and blind and pig headed (is that the same as stubborn?) to think of recruiting a guy that could do good things for the club and get us great again.

Yes you are correct, so how would it look like when Richardson reported back to the Board that the majority should be sacked for their incompetence and being so dysfunctional. Webb could have done the same thing during our circus of employing a new coach, but instead he just towed the corporate line with some bullshit spin. I can tell you right now at the Tigers its now the Richardson show, just ask Fulton who is running the place. They are the current holders of 2 years worth of wooden spoons in a row, yet they landed their marquee player plus a few others, we have had and have an incompetent GM and a weak CEO, plus totally incompetent recruiting, the last 13 years are testament to this, I'm hoping this year maybe slightly better but we shall see if we have learnt any lessons whereas I think finally the Tigers have and will be going places.

Flannagan will turn things around in 2024. Once that can bee seen by the NRL world, we will have the cash to recruit well for 2025.

Richo when head hunted said what do you need?
He obviously agreed with the scope of the work that needed to be done in 180days
Just by him agreeing to a 180 day job as a very very experienced administrator signaled to everyone you are on notice

Great player of excellent potential but a body made is glass. Only reason we went from worshipping the idea of him like the biggest thing since sliced bread to acceptance of his departure was because he could never stay on the field. I’d like to think Shane would have kept him ahead of Kyle if he was more fit.

Dragons would be a wonderful place to work. Absolutely zero accountability for good pay. Just need to talk a bit of spin or hold a crisis meeting every so often and pretend to do something. Job comfort personified.

To be fair until my club became the poo stain of the competition and I was never really concerned with how boards work.

So how did the Tigers get their board wiped recently? If it wasn’t Shane Richardson, what would have led to their dismissal?

They are blessed to have a majority shareholder, Holman Barnes group which has a majority of appointees from Wests Ashfield.
They triggered the clean out, and they appointed Richardson. How else did Richo start same day as the Board was hearing that they were out of a job? Old board didn’t appoint him, new board didn’t have their feet under the desk yet.

We have no majority shareholder.

Thanks for the explanation as I’m genuinely curious. If we don’t restructure the Dragons in some way similar then they might as well send us off to Perth as far as I’m concerned. The boards security has well and truly killed us off.
