I have seen Norman play very well at halfback for Parra. I know he is a quality signing.
T Sims was a Milward signing
Graham is past his best, but if we didn't have him last year, we would have been even thinner in the props department. He also provides much need on field leadership, he is inspirational and is a good influence on our younger forwards. We also were paying him only 300K or so last year.
If we didn't have Hunt last year, we wouldn't have even had a recognised halfback, which is one of, if not the most important position on the field. He is probably the best halfback we have had since Billy Smith. Hunt's greatest strength is his ability to play what's in front of him. He is a very good runner of the ball, but there were and still are questions marks about his ability to game manage. That is why the signing of Norman was so important. I believe in Norman and Hunt we have one of the best pairs of halves in the game. If I was in charge of recruitment, I would be looking to build the team around a pair of top quality halves, but good halves are hard to come by. When Millward took over, we didn't have any props and he has addressed that problem too. We are thin on outside backs this year, but I think we may have two future first graders in Lomax, Marsters who I would like to see play first grade this year. Maybe they can be our long term centres? Then there is the young star from Young, who has some decent wraps on him. I read that he plays fullback. If he is that good, he could be our future long term fullback? I am also keen to see a bit of Pearson and Ravalawa. So Millward has done a pretty good job in my opinion.
I agree with you regarding Aitken, Lafai and Pereira, but Mary is playing all of them in first grade this week?????
I'd like to see Norman at 7 and Hunt at 6. Norman can organise the team and Hunt can run and override when he see an opportunity. That suits their skills better.
