Getting there as we would represent his 4th club.
Trouble is he probably meets all our recruitment prerequisites.
Technically still his 3rd club but I see your point.
I don't think I'd be rushing to buy him for next year, maybe as an emergency replacement for JDB this year but next year we will be fine.

IMO once you leave you come back as a new signing and you are coming to a new club.
Wouldn’t touch him this year either.
I wonder what happened to all the hype about Millward making a big signing just prior to the season starting due to other clubs having cap problems?
We evidently didn’t look too hard at other options early on because it was smart to wait.

Basil thinks he will probably come cheap though.
Merrin left us for a contract of around 700K a year. Since then the salary cap has risen. If we could get him for around 500K a year, that could be a good buy. Millward has been the master of picking up good players for a bargain or even having their former club pay a significant portion of their salary for the first season. I will admit that Merrin didn't live up to his price tag at Penrith, but he would still be a decent prop to have on our roster.

Norman, T Sims, Vaughan, McInness and Graham were all good purchases. McInnes was second in line for origin last year. Tariq was the form secondrower in the comp last year and played origin. We desperately need a decent prop for 2018 and Graham was a good pick up, with Canterbury footing a large chunk of his salary. Vaughan was playing reserve grade for Canberra when we signed him. Canberra also payed a large chunk of his salary in his first year at our club. Vaughan also and played origin last year too. He also signed Hunt, who was the form halfback of the comp for the first 3rd of the comp last year, before getting injured and continuing to play injured and then coping a barrage of criticism from the media during origin.

When Millward took over, we were wooden spoon candidates, now we are premiership candidates.

Have to agree from what we had a few years ago to the players that have come in, its a big positive, the BIG mistake that Millward has made in my opinion is the long contracts given to Aitken and Lafai, that is the one issue that grates me...

Merrin play one good season for us and SoO and let it go to his head.
I'd offer peanuts and let him prove himself, all over again.
Who knows, if he can make a go of it, he may even win Sallys' heart back.

I could also add K Sims to the list of decent signings. When we first sign him I wasn't very enthusiastic, but he may prove to be another astute signing for a nice price.

I bet Mary had a big say in that.
Only guessing.

Norman hasn't played a comp game yet, so far too early to judge him.
Vaughan very good 1st year a bit backwards (maybe injury) last year but I agree a good buy.
Mc Inness gets a tick
Sims was he a Millward signing?
Graham average at best for mine and I wouldn't have signed him.
Aitken & Lafai re signed and now Pereira further extended hardly good IMO.
Hunt IMO is yet to play to the hype he has but maybe this year he reveals his value to us all. Bye the way what was his injury?

I have seen Norman play very well at halfback for Parra. I know he is a quality signing.

T Sims was a Milward signing

Graham is past his best, but if we didn't have him last year, we would have been even thinner in the props department. He also provides much need on field leadership, he is inspirational and is a good influence on our younger forwards. We also were paying him only 300K or so last year.

If we didn't have Hunt last year, we wouldn't have even had a recognised halfback, which is one of, if not the most important position on the field. He is probably the best halfback we have had since Billy Smith. Hunt's greatest strength is his ability to play what's in front of him. He is a very good runner of the ball, but there were and still are questions marks about his ability to game manage. That is why the signing of Norman was so important. I believe in Norman and Hunt we have one of the best pairs of halves in the game. If I was in charge of recruitment, I would be looking to build the team around a pair of top quality halves, but good halves are hard to come by. When Millward took over, we didn't have any props and he has addressed that problem too. We are thin on outside backs this year, but I think we may have two future first graders in Lomax, Marsters who I would like to see play first grade this year. Maybe they can be our long term centres? Then there is the young star from Young, who has some decent wraps on him. I read that he plays fullback. If he is that good, he could be our future long term fullback? I am also keen to see a bit of Pearson and Ravalawa. So Millward has done a pretty good job in my opinion.

I agree with you regarding Aitken, Lafai and Pereira, but Mary is playing all of them in first grade this week?????
