The Rumours Thread

bullet dodged , but he is better than Norman and would have been happy for a swap for the year

I dont think Milford can ever come back and play decent footy after the last few years except if he went somewhere like storm or a really strong club where he could just be icing on a cake rather than a main man

I do hope we dont sign him long term here

Agree Mjab , we are beginning to assemble just too many ex-broncs players- some at the latter stages of their careers - and I believe that Milford , although not in that category and slightly more skillful than Norman , will only be a roadblock to our junior players.

They need to have as much top grade experience as possible and should our winning stats begin to drop further this season , then hopefully Griffin will give them their opportunity.

Some rumour that as the Warriors have lost a few players to injury, they might be seeking the return of Tonua Brown. Has anyone on the forum heard this?

Milford would have been a huge mistake imo, so happy the 'rumour' passed by quickly. I'm also hoping that the Mbye 'rumour' is just media talk and we aren't serious about him.

I've stated previously that Nikorima should be a target for the #14 jersey. Can play hooker, fullback and in the halves. With the Warriors expected return to NZ (sometime in the future) Nikorima has stated he wants to stay in Oz. Still only 27 and would provide excellent coverage across the spine. Would also add much needed dash from dummy half.

And may I add, he fits the 'ex-bronco' profile.

Nikorima has kicking game and I think would be handy , I think waht Ive seen of him this year he hasnt been that bad , we need something at hooker rather than just a tackler in Macca

Plus a backup kicker

Gee it would be good to know what our recruitment and retention people are discussing with Hook at the moment. We used to have Millward come out on the website interviews and let us know the type of player they are targeting and where we are at with the juniors and who is actually going to be first guys on the rank.

We hear absolutely nothing nowadays and only hear/read what some people in the media are giving us the usual run around rumours so that the players "on the market" gets a bigger slice of the carrot at the end with some other club and we look red faced because they "changed their minds" about signing with us.

I'm sincerely hoping that we don't end up getting more rejects and journeymen because there are a number coming onto the market.

With respect DD, there is absolutely zero reason to play the recruitment game out in public. I’m more than happy for Hook and co to keep it nice and quiet and in house. No need to feed the media maggots with speculation on every player that comes available. People need to trust that Hook knows what he is doing. Good times are coming and trying to clean up a 10 year mess will take some time

That's fair enough redv13. What I was wanting to see from the club is what sort of player(s) they are wanting to get to strengthen the squad for next year not any particular player(s). I know that they keep a lot of the "actual" players that they are going for in house and let us know once the deal is done, but just to let us know the type, then we can have some idea who they might be going for. Maybe this might be too much for them to expose just in case they cannot get the deals done.

Surely, at the moment, he has no contract with the Warriors, and has a contract with us for another couple of weeks?
Part of the contract was that if they lost a few middles they could take him back
He us only with us for a 3 anyway
Unless maned in Warriors side tomorrow which zi doubt so at worst we lose him for the Souths game only

In the telegraph it’s states that we approached the Broncos about signing him on a 10 week contract but that on Sunday Griffin turned his back on it and said no
It tells me our up and comer halves are not quite ready due to injury or body and mind to have Milford just for this year
Hence why Norman keeps getting picked
Next year different story
I’m going with the coach in the know with this one despite everyone’s outrage including me with Norman in the side
