Sorry Mate, didn't realise we were playing the Sombrero game with unlimited funds.
I don’t quite understand this, are you saying that our club is financially hamstrung? The Dogs and Sharks for example are able to sign big names because they have a financial advantage over us?

I believe Sane Flannagan would get the best out of his son and he would be a cheap first-grade halfback competing with Sullivan for the NRL position.

We will be letting go a lot forwards Sims and possibly Su'A and Lawrie among them. We need to forget about buying average players and buy some marquee forwards to have any chance in 2023.

Player names will come up as Clubs review their salary cap for 2023. I personally posted that Haas, Fifita, and Kyle Flannagan should be our targets for 2023.
Haas is still under contract until the end of 2024, so not available for next year. I think Fifita is off contract at the end of this year but has not justified his exorbitant salary, and is not a regular SOO player. Flanagan is not even a solid FG player and I don't know when his contract is up. Ànyone else you would classify as a top tier player that is available?

I know the source for this is The Mole, but thought Saints fans might find this of some interest -

"The Tigers rate Liddell but have signed Korisau". Seems a bit contradictive to me. Bit fishy.

Liddell was once a good player but not deemed important enough to keep by a spoon club, not in demand and our second choice after Verrils. There seems to be a theme with our attempts to sign talent. Korisau can come in and make a big difference...Liddell...not as convincing but certainly no slouch.

Won't get many complaints if he is to take the place of McCullough. Beggars can't be choosers can they...

I think I would rather have the young strapping 6’4” fellow from the Warriors . At least he would add size to our pack .

I dont get it, all these things they are calling him, " a class dummy half " and " should be able to get the dragons pack on the front foot" my question is , has this happened at the Tigers and if so why are they wooden spooners. So what do we do with Mbye, Sullivan and Muhlheisen next year ???

Muhlheisen will continue to learn his craft in the lower grades.
Mbye v Bud worries me.
I can see Hook using Mbye at 14 because of his versatility compared to Bud which then further creates a scenario for Bud to leave 😩

Very true. Not sure which party would be the beggar and which one would be the chooser in this scenario though.

Why on earth do we persist with Macca? If he retires it opens up a whole range of options for the way we use Hunt and Sullivan and the opportunity to bring Muhleisen through. Mbye is a reasonable bench player, which is the role he was intended to play.

plus a promising #7 in Braxton Wallace coming through.
Yes he is. Not seen a lot of the kid given they only hand us peasants 2mins of Flegg footage but I did watch the entire match last week and Wallace looks a clever play making half. To be brutally honest, that we desperately need. Looking forward to seeing how he follows up tomorrow in another do or die match for us.

It has all got to do with the quality of people on the Board, management staff and of course our coaching and fitness staff. We could be on of the best but the guys at the top are only concerned about theirs and themselves.

We seem to always be looking into the future (a long way down the road) only to be disappointed by kids that fail against men, who don't have defensive skills, and who only do well when playing behind a dominant forward pack.

I subscribe to the idea that you try to field a winning team every week and every season. Sure, bring the young guns through, but ensure we have the best possible team our salary cap can fund.

I would rather Hunt plays 9 or moves on. Yes, he can go in 2023. Why do you say? Why get rid of our best player? The answer is easy, because he is blocking Sullivan and because the size of his salary is making it difficult to bolster our forward pack.

A Flannagan for Hunt not only saves us about 400k-500k of the cap, it also gives us a first-grade half to backup Sullivan while for Wallace to come through.

Yeah mate. Well said.

Korisau will be massive for them, as was Burton ( Dogs) and Hynes ( Sharks ). Key signings.

Wouldn't surprise me if we brought back Lachlan Maranta. Would fit right in. Anyways, welcome to Liddell.
