Isaiah Papalii would be a great buy.
He has cold feet in going to the Tigers.
But he would rather go to the Tigers than us
The below is guess work but based on rumours / reporting. I assume wont be that far away
Problem is we have approx $7 mill+ tied up in 12 players assuming reported salaries exc; TPA?
Hunt 1.2 back ended now averaged 1 mill over 6 yrs, Amone 500? next year, Suli, Lomax, Sua, Molo about $2.4 between them
Blocker Mybe, Macca $400 = $1.2m. JDB 700K, Bird 550K, Rava 350-400K?
Cap next year $10.8mill?. Min salary about $110K?

Leaves $3.8m for 18 players = $211K per player including the likes of Ramsay, Sullo, Sloane, Feagais x 2, Kerr, Woods who likelyi some maybe on more than that

We cant afford any big names next year..simple !, unless some of these depart

Apparently there is perceived nepotism at Parra....Wow. Saints has that in spades which is so apparent when it comes to Qldrs and hasbeens. As if the board care at Saints about nepotism. Interested to see how Parra react. Surely they will take this more serious than Saints.

'jobs for the boys' in other words. We certainly practice that here. Griffin has a masters in it.
So Parra also has a disgruntled dressing room?

I'm of the understanding that officially:
In season 2022 we are under the salary cap.
Sims is on 800k and going to the Storm
We have signed Liddle on about 300k

Other players are leaving or being let go.
Hopefully, we will sign two good forwards a prop and an edge forward.

In fairness Tom Dearden was shocking at the Bronco's and Croft was worse
Tom Dearden had a 1st grade imposter out side him who demanded the ball 99% off the time. That is the only reason he was (as you say) shocking. Have a look how he is going with a game organiser with years of experience beside him, not to mention a coach with some ideas.

BLM01,
thats the problem for us so many players on the 500 - 600 thou range which destroys the salary cap and leaves little option than discards and fingers crossed . This is why our pathways have to work to both identify talent and "educate" the player so as they progress so do their skills .. And the salary cap will work for you . When you consider that Mbye is on 400 we are paying overs same as suli and probably bird even if you said 50 thou a year each .. It all adds up and erodes the cap space

What gets me is that the media on a number of occasions over the last couple of seasons have said that the Dragons would have a substantial war chest come 2023 .

Well that has not eventuated due to - as other have said - the overs which the club has paid for a number of players . Quite simply some have not performed to the dollars which they have been paid .

It appears that we continue along in this vain making the same contractual errors year after year and therefore never having any substantial amount to gain true quality players .

Dragons have an ad up on seek. They're looking for a new communications and media manager. Good to see Ryan Webb has fulfilled his word as he said he'd be looking into how they can improve in communications, media, etc. Hopefully we'll be seeing more Dragons content from next season onwards!
I believe that is the case because the previous bloke in that role has moved on. I saw a Twitter thread from him the other day breaking the news.

The club might have to do a Ricky Stuart during his time at the Eels before he left and get rid of about 10 players and rebuilding the squad from there. Putting more realistic values on some "wanted" players and then bringing in many more juniors for experience to one day be the players that would lead us to premiership glory. Hahaha! 😂

I know that Ricky copped a lot of booing and criticism for what he did but it was needed in my opinion. We otherwise will just continue, year after year with the same problems.

Disagree on Suli & Bird ( if he plays like he did the last 3 games ) but get your point. Even the Debellin contract, reckon we paid 100k more than we should. Also highlights how fine line the new Hunt contract may be. Just got a feeling instead of 600k they will fold and pay him 800k. One thing for sure there obviously is a lot of Dragons players being overpaid, based on their contributions on the field.

being under in 22 wont help us now. 23 is what we are focussing on and we dont have money to buy the players you talk about for 2023, 24 is another discussion
