Agree but we will be at $1.01 for the spoon.
In a game against Souths last season, the Dragons racked up 26 points to nil in the first half and went on to win 34 to 12. In this game and a few other games in 2022 they looked like a top 4 prospect. But sadly in most games, they looked tired and disinterested. I put most of their poor performances down to:
1. Lack of fitness
2. A poor game plan that is not able to be changed during the game.
3. A reliance on individual effort rather than teamwork.
4. The quality of our spine players (mostly their inexperience).
5. Ben Hunt's inability to lead a team.

Well Josh Jackson does fall into the washed up veteran category we have a penchant for.

I still don’t understand why we let Tariq Sims go for 2023. Mystery to me.
I do think Tariq's best days are well past here so I wasnt fussed , unfortunately the same can be said of half the team Im afraid

I do however believe that Tariq will likely have an awesome year next year at the storm , with Bellamy, their system and structures and the quality players around him.
And dont kid ourselves that he would have an awesome year here, and shouldnt have let him go , because he wouldnt have , we play Dragons footy

"Meanwhile Jayden Sullivan’s request to depart the Dragons may come back to a Zoom call between the 21-year-old and the club".

Just a piece at the end of a write up on Foxsports news. What's with a Zoom call now that Covid restrictions have gone out the window? Unless Sullivan is on holiday overseas or interstate, shouldn't the club and Sullivan meet at the club face to face and get all concerns cleared and settled?

Would like the club to let us know how the Zoom call turned out and even words from Sullivan himself on the outcome.

There were other quotes you forgot to mention....

“We are going in the right direction. The experience we have in the team and the extra year for those young guys to develop."
“Guys like Cody Ramsey, Junior Amone and Mat Feagai came on really well at the back end of the year.”

me, me, me - selfish prick!

Not sure how giving three rookies a wrap is selfish but hey, whatevs...

This club has just so much poor performance in communication to the fans its not funny anymore. The AFL has it over the NRL in such a big way. Webb should hang his head in shame for not giving at least monthly updates and putting a lot of rumors to bed. Obviously its not the way the club operates, therefore we should never blame the players when other clubs come sniffing around about contracts , releases etc. Its obvious at this club if you dont ask you dont get.

Its all the rage now Dave, it makes it a lot easier to walk out when you are pissed off, just push a button and the meeting is over.

The lad didn’t sign his contract via a zoom call , therefore as a man he should do as you have suggested D.D. - have the integrity to meet with the Dragon officials if he wishes to break it .

I can recall when I signed my apprenticeship papers back in the early 60’s . I was signing my life away for the next 4 years , obligated to my employer for the duration.

The head engineer and personnel officer explained to me in detail exactly what the contract entailed so as I realized not only their responsibilities to me , but also my own to them .

I will never forget my father when we left the office
being proud that his son would one day become a fully qualified tradesman .

Unfortunately there was only one thing that the company omitted in the discussions with me and that was the paltry amount of pay of an apprentice , but that certainly changed once I actually became a tradesman .

Now I am not some old fart reminiscing about days gone by , there was a reason for that tale of my early working years and quite simply it is this , if you sign a contract - you honour it .

Yes that's it justa. An easy way out when things get uncomfortable.

The Zoom meeting mention was during contract talks a year ago

The zoom call was with Sullivan (and his parents?) negotiating the contract out to 2025. He signed it a year or so ago.

Yes, RedVee, Sullivan did agree to remain at the Dragons to 2025 and signed the contract last November but I am not so sure that it was done by Zoom. My interpretation of what was said in the Foxsports article is that both parties will now discuss the situation via Zoom, but you could be right that they might go back to a Zoom call last November during which the club said that Sullivan would be the half in 2024.

Just have to wait and see now.

Claused need to be put into the contract and honored by both parties. Any release which results in a player transferring to another club within 3 years MUST result in the agreement being paid out by the party terminating the contract. This payment will go to the salary cap total of the other party and be deducted from the salary cap of the party that requested the agreement be terminated.

In this way, the losing club is compensated and the winning club is bound to payout the contract.

Pretty clearly states that the zoom call happened when he was negotiating his new deal - so was part of his decision making when agreeing to stay on longer with us. Understandable why he’d be annoyed they went back on their word.

“Now the Sydney Morning Herald reports that Sullivan was told, during a Zoom call while negotiating his current deal, that Ben Hunt would not be at the Dragons beyond 2023”

So Sullivan was assured he will be the half in 2024. Well it can still happen so why ask for a release. There will be a new coach hopefully by then and he will put the best team out there and Hunt at No.9 may be his plan as it is for the rep team coaches. The "new" coach (jeez we hope there is one) won't be dictated where to play someone he will just do what is best for the team and not his mates. It Hunt does not like it then the 34 year old can ask for a release and he probably won't get many takers on a salary that high so Saints will be in the box seat. Win win for Saints and Sullivan. He just has to stay patient for 1 more season as planned in the Zoom call.....

All well and good, however if he was given assurances by this inept club, then why should he wait?
Our track record re coaching appointments isnt stellar and whats to sat the next coach ( IF Griffin is sacked ), does not see Sullivan as we do.

I can't see any competent new coach keeping Hunt at 7. He'll be shifted to 9, Macca will retire early and Bud will be 7.

Only the stubborn dinosaur Hook, would keep Hunt at 7, Macca at 9 and let Bud leave. Hook doesn't care because he wont be there past 23.
