Most other clubs are building up their rosters… all we seem to bending is losing players whether by injury, suspension or moving them on without any plan of who to replace them with….a very sad club

During preseason we should be excited looking forward to a new season…. I’m actually dreading the season ahead
With the squad we have…

Dogs went through years and years and years of pain trying to get their roster and cap right after good old Des (who so many want to come here) f**ked it all up.

They had to let players go, take on discards (anyone remember Flanagan, Dufty & Vaughan) thinking they would be good and all the while the press bagging their former clubs for letting them go.

Despite all their big purchases they still have a way to go as they have very few if any decent juniors to bolster their hired guns.

A couple of injuries and suspensions season gone for them.

Whilst it is true we are still getting our roster and cap sorted we do have the luxury of a shit load of decent juniors coming through so we should be able to sustain and supplement our roster which will be ever so much better next year and also keep those we need when upgrades are due suck shit Penrith.

If the Dogs don't win a comp in the next 2 years it will be an epic failure of catastrophic proportions and then watch big toad fish Gus look to exit stage left.

Watching the Dogs fail with a cast bigger than Ben Hur will be a thing of beauty.

I'd like to post something that I hope will come about for the Dragons.

We have had it pretty tough these many past years. Poor coaches, poor player signings (rejects, journeymen, has beens etc), not really reaching great heights on the ladder, some poor off-field dramas, injuries and suspensions (much like other clubs I guess) and so on.

Our "bad times" cannot go on infinitum and I don't think it will. We have a lot of talent waiting to be fully developed and brought into the system patiently and systematically. This talent in my opinion is vast and many good ones that will come on stream in the next few years is what I'm sure the Dragons are working on with people like Willie Talau to set them on the right path and manage them properly.

We will have the new C of E I'd say in 2025 and this will help with the uplifting of the playing group as a whole and maybe the changing of the guard of some other Board members to allow the younger ones to come in and bring about a positive change to the Dragons.

What I am saying is that we all have to hang in there. We can do it so just keep the faith win, lose or draw this year.

825K for Chrichton, that’s about right I reckon for a player of his calibre going to a club in a rebuilding phase.
Another great signing for the Dogs.
825K minimum they say. Who knows what the real price is
Bloody hell, how many $800k plus players does that make it now for the Dogs?
That would likely be 6. JAC, TPJ, Kikau, Mahoney, Burton

Des did not do it alone. They had their CEO Raelene and a football club / BOD fihghting and in shambles
Des did not sign the cheques

Sorry OT, why do dogs have to win a comp in next two years or it’s an epic fail of catastrophic proportions?
For example, if they come 8th this year, 4th next year, 3rd the following year etc etc isn’t that a massive win for the club and fans?
I mean, winning the comp is one thing but playing competitive top 4 football is what the fans really want right?
To say they need to win a comp from absolutely nowhere within two years is crazy.

The cap rules are open to fully exploit. Say WIN have a “ unofficial “ meeting with 4 of its largest advertisers and suggest they offer 200 300k a year to support our recruitment of 4 elite players for a discount on their rates? It’s very hard to complete against multi millionaires like Politis & Laundy who obviously know how to Rort the system.
Don't forget the Football clubs that own their leagues club. Its an incredible source funds.
Leagues clubs aren't too different to casinos and the cash going through there can easily be diverted if necessary.
I believe the Bulldogs, Eels , and Panthers are among the clubs owning their leagues clubs.
Someone like Politis or a wealthy actor / owner to help buy premierships would also be handy.

Big Gus isn’t buying these guys in a bid to be competitive.

With the purchases they have and continue to make means their window is now open.

Storm, Panthers, Eels rosters have all declined and the Roosters is ageing but rest assured they will look to bolster over 23 & 24.

If the Dogs can’t fire over the next 2 years they never will.

A couple of years ago they won a spoon.
Gus is trying to put them on the right path towards the top half of the ladder. How can you be critical of what they are trying to accomplish?
I’m jealous, I think Gus is doing a fantastic job at the Dogs and wish to god we had him doing the same thing with our club.
I don’t deathride them, waiting for them to fail, i applaud them for having a crack.
Unlike our sorry bunch of twats.

It’s just the Phil Gould factor, that’s it. He is that influential and brilliant, as much as we hate to say.
He played for and coached Penrith, he then became their General Manager of football and left in 2019. He put them on the path they’re now on.
He played for and coached the Bulldogs, he’s now become the general manager of football. They’ll become a powerhouse again in the coming years, not this year but it’ll happen, Gould will make sure if it.
He’s just super well connected and respected, that’s how he gets it done. He’s invested in this club the dogs, as he was with Roosters, Penrith.
Dogs are only going one way and it ain’t south.
Yes, and our Club hired Gould to provide a report to support the continuing employment of Mary as a first-grade coach. At the same time, they continued with the likes of Millward and Haran who are the most useless administrators the Club has ever employed.

The question is, why did not the club hire Gould as our football manager? Maybe the answer is that Craig Young had the plan to appoint his son as head coach and Gould would have had other ideas.

Not sure what the C of E has to do with uplifting the playing group? The Knights got theirs last year and they didn't make the semis after making them the 2 previous years without a C of E.

Des made all the recommendations and put all the plans in place just as he did at Manly.

Remember he is a controlling personality type with his own team (Crusher etc) and it's Des's way or the highway.
