My recollection was that the Melbourne Storm breaches were discovered by the NRL auditor, Ian Schubert. Don't know about the others. You wouldn't have needed a tip off for Melbourne, the fact that they had Cronk, Smith, Slater and Inglis on the books should have been a red flag.
Correct, just fired up google and it was Schubert who found a file in a separate room.

Noted, but that's a different arguement. Under the rules which applied at the time, they cheated. Other teams who operated within the cap had every right to feel aggrieved.
Understand, you play by the rules, they didnt, i get that, just saying it really needs to be looked at, spend all that time effort and money only to be taken from you by clubs like the Bulldogs..

Des made all the recommendations and put all the plans in place just as he did at Manly.

Remember he is a controlling personality type with his own team (Crusher etc) and it's Des's way or the highway.
Oh well. he may have learnt from those years and their would of been pressure from outside and sponsors for more success especially he got them to a GF. I'll judge him from Manly times.
I would have him as our coach today.

Cross Tapau off the list. Foxsport reporting signed effective immediately with Broncos. To rub salt in the wound also reporting that they beat eels and Souths to his signature so we obviously were never in the hunt

It’s disappointing unless we have another prop lined up. Signing Tapau just for a year to fill in to our team would’ve been nice as we’re lacking upfront

Company directors, politicians and many public servants have to publish their remuneration and record their pecuniary interests and third party payments on public records. FFS, we all know there's lots of corrupt BS going on in the NRL. It's obviously and art form and an industry.
Politicians and public servants are paid by our taxes while public company directors manage monies in behalf of shareholders so a bit different to payments to football players. Maybe they just list player payments without names attached. Also if a club has organized an illegal TPA, they would not disclose it whether the rule is to make such payments public or not

The US college system has the "death penalty" for colleges breaking the payment of players if considered very serious which I think includes being bared from a period of time 'a season'from competing. While you can't do that in the NRL, maybe bar clubs from making transfers for a season or 2.

Contracts all need to be with the NRL and after signing with the NRL, players go into a draft. No infringement on salary because rather than players receiving funds from clubs, they instead receive their salary from the NRL.

Players would be rated by the NRL on a points basis and each club would be allocated so many points to use in the draft.

Players who do not agree to play with their current club or those who are new recruits to the NRL, will go into the Draft.

The draft will be conducted each year after the completion of the season.

Offers for players will be made by clubs who finished last to first in the previous season.

Surely this would be a much fairer system.

When it comes to TPA, player managers will work with the NRL and all TPA will be related to a player no matter which club he is assigned to.

The NRL can then do away with the club salary cap and salary cap grants to clubs.

Fans, sponsors, and others interested in the performance of Clubs, all would benefit from the public scrutiny of the expenditure of players and the extent of compliance with the salary cap policy. To hide this info is an incentive to cheat.

Possum
We all think some other clubs are rorting the salary cap and TPA system, but really we are just admitting that the management of our club is so inept and incompetent they don’t have any idea of how to “work” the system in terms of payments, TPA’s and recruitment

And the most disgusting imagery from the incident was those self righteous players walking united on to their field to have a press conference to express their innocence. Those same players were receiving "extras". When one of them retired and was lauded as one of the greatest I nearly vomitted with disgust. Schubert found copies of letters to players promising side payments so the players were completely complicit in the rort. And third party payments are now a way to do it under the rules. This comp will always now be lopsided and theres nothing we can do about it. Unless we play the same game we are screwed
