Not related to our club but still does my head in but the Bulldogs have signed Stephen Crichton for 2024 and supposedly are set to sign Spencer Leniu and have offered Mitchell Moses 1.3 mill a year

1. Why is our recruitment team not throwing everything at Spencer Leniu

and 2. Where the f**k is this money coming from for the Dogs

I hate seeing all these teams making great recruitment moves and we are just content with Ben Murdoch Masila and Zane f**king Musgrove

Yes Big Rig , it is just unbelievable the amount of true quality signings the Dogs have made over the last couple of years . And as you have said the money - well perhaps they have amalgamated with the Australian Mint ?

As they certainly would not be doing anything contrary to the rules of the salary cap - again ?

However to your main point the Dragons have money for season 2024 yet , it would seem that they just do not have the first idea how to attract the same caliber of player as do the Dogs and for that matter any other club .

It is a shocking situation to be in season after season , we the fans are left scratching our heads at times with the cast off signings that the Dragon hierarchy herald and celebrate about .

The results on the field show just how astute those signings truly are - pitiful.

So we the fans continue on believing , hoping , praying that those useless pack of inbreds in that bluudy Joint Venture boardroom can get their act together just once so as we can take pride in our players , team and the Big Red V jersey once again .

Could it have something to do with the fact that we are based in Wollongong and not Sydney? Also is it still the case that some players live in the Shire? Maybe players want to have access to the Sydney night life. Just my thoughts as it seems no-one wants to come and play for us. Maybe it's the coach? I'm sick and tired of hoping for news of a good signing/s every day just to be disappointed again and again.

Dragons recruitment has long been pathetic & continues to be.
Millward, Haran & the great myth Flanno are complete flops in this area. We aren’t in the same League as the others with brains & know how behind them.

This useless Board need to get on the phone to Nathan Brown & offer him some serious dollars to leave the Eels and re build the RedV now from 2023 onwards.

It's crazy isn't it? The Bulldogs have become the Sydney Roosters lately - able to sign up players and yet remain salary cap compliant and have even money left over just in case they have missed someone or waiting for the next big name to be almost at the end of his contract to sign up a year ahead of time. Putting Gould and Ciraldo aside, how in hell are they able to do it with the same level of money that the Dragons get from the allocation from the NRL. I'm definitely thinking that they are aiming for 2024 to be their year to start their attempt at winning the premiership 3 years in a row after Penrith does it this year.

The Dragons don't stand a chance of adding to their trophies for a very long time I'm dreading and well and truly after I'm dead and burned.

It’s just the Phil Gould factor, that’s it. He is that influential and brilliant, as much as we hate to say.
He played for and coached Penrith, he then became their General Manager of football and left in 2019. He put them on the path they’re now on.
He played for and coached the Bulldogs, he’s now become the general manager of football. They’ll become a powerhouse again in the coming years, not this year but it’ll happen, Gould will make sure if it.
He’s just super well connected and respected, that’s how he gets it done. He’s invested in this club the dogs, as he was with Roosters, Penrith.
Dogs are only going one way and it ain’t south.

I don't recall this being an issue from 1999 - 2011.

I suspect it has more to do with the coaching and management then anything else.

Say WIN have a “ unofficial “ meeting with 4 of its largest advertisers and suggest they offer 200 300k a year to support our recruitment of 4 elite players for a discount on their rates? It’s very hard to complete against multi millionaires like Politis & Laundy who obviously know how to Rort the system.

From a practical perspective the cap is a mirage.

Rich clubs with access to strong sponsors dominate recruitment.

WIN simply is not invested in bringing success to our club.

St George Leagues Club is a lame duck and no better than WIN.

The two parties should put the NRL Licence on the block for the good of both the fans and the game.

Thats the crux of it. We should be already engaging for those off contract in 24 but we cant even tell them who the coach will be. By the time hook gets sacked it'll be '25 we are chasing and missing out on ...

I think it definitely has an effect, but I'm not sure how big an effect it is. But let's say you're a Penrith player, you're living in the Penrith area, you have family/friends connections there, and you're offered a contract with Canterbury, Wests Tigers or St George-Illawarra. You would need a premium to relocate to Wollongong or compensate for the big commute.

Kogarah was still in the mix in that period.

I know people hate to admit it but now that Kogarah is abandoned for training purposes the job of recruitment has become harder.
