Is there any truth in the rumour we are trying to get rid of Rava? Got an email from the club yesterday saying "Last Chance Clearance" with photos of Rava, Bird and Captain Benny. I can understand Bird and Benny but Rava? Wonder if all club CEO's also got the email?

How long till the Dogs get caught again for over the cap. This is getting ridiculous. As Parko mentioned, Gus and Laudy caught offering a dodgy deal to Tino and NRL sweeps it under the carpet. If we had Gallop around he would have sorted it out for sure but these 2 clowns in charge will let anything go as long as they get something in return.

In terms of Dearden - Hunt wanting out of the club who is his Qld team mate, how would that help win him over? I simply cannot see him coming over at all. Saints will throw in an offer and Cows will match it and he keep him long term. I think any Qlder's would be put off now thanks to our captain for rubbishing the club and wanting to leave Sydney.

Saints only hope for retention is getting players from the ESL or based in Sydney. Dean Hawkins from Souths should be the target for a half. He only signed for next season at Souths. Adrian Lam is the other with his PNG buddy at hooker.

I would pay Dearden 1mil easily. He debuted in a decider of origin and was nearly the best on field. Once DCE retires Dearden will be the maroons half for the next 10 years. 1 million in the new cap is more like 750-800 of yesteryear

Before Flanno and Millard went on leave they probably told the Saints BOD, "Whilst on leave whatever you do, do not let Haran near recruitment. Don't even let him even give you advice".
A few days later, we hear Curran come out and say he knocked back Saints and is joining the Dogs.

I just made this up but I feel like if true we would not be surprised.

Flanno has a big job in getting Saints to improve with what he has next season and if they do, recruitment will not be as hard. He will have players wanting to join this club rather than the Dogs or Tigers. Flanno is lucky those 2 teams have rookies in charge. I am hoping those particular games against them, Flanno will have the perfect strategy to beat them and show his experience.

So many loopholes to get around it.
My big hope is Flanagan is playing the same game as everyone else in the NRL and there will be signing news for us regarding players for 2025 next month.

Yes, that's not a breach in itself. But he knows what he's going to get paid if he goes there or he wouldn't have made the decision yet. Whether or not it was an "official" offer or not. Very very dodgy system.

When was the last time the NRL has hit any club for a breach of the salary cap or dealing with a player still under contract for a couple of years with another club or whatever the breach could be?

I guess every club is now doing the right thing "in the eyes" of the NRL? Thy cannot "see" anything "crooked" going on because every club is doing the right thing. Yeah right hahaha!!

Yes- there are running halves and organising halves- the ones who can do both really really well are worth the $million dollar + salaries but apart from Nathan Cleary- who employed both of these skill sets in the GF sensationally well, I don't think we have anyone who fits the bill.

We really don’t look like an attractive club to sign with at the moment. We really need a solid start to next season, then hopefully some of these possible signings can see we are on our way up.
As a few others have mentioned before, we are really 12 months behind where we should be. Flanno should have been appointed last off season, I’m fairly confident we would have faired much better and be in a stronger bargaining position. The Hunt issue would have also resolved itself.

I think we are more of a realistic chance of signing someone like Chad Townsend. I would be negotiating a swap deal for Hunt. Townsend is exactly what we need right now.

What !! Swap a guy on 900k for a player worth about 400 - 500K ? This isn’t Millward or Haran is it ?
