The Rumours Thread

It's only rumour now but you just know he will be playing for a Qld side this season unless the NRL steps in Bare min needs to be made to sit out this year until his Bulldogs contract would have been up. Also needs to have a min amount agreed by the NRL of what he can be offered so they don't get him for Reggie's rate.
Think he had 2 years to go. The Bulldogs ability to shed players and gain others is impressive. Meanwhile, at the Dragons...

If TPJ is allowed to come back to the NRL this year the system is even more.of a joke than we all thought and the Bulldogs need to be investigated for forcing him out.

Scum scum scum
Yeah the Bulldogs. They treat their guys like shit I'd say. I'm 100% that they paid out TPJ a small amount of dosh and encouraged him to get into boxing so that they could sign others and now of course they will be after the May boys to leave the Roosters, Penrith and Super League to be at the Bulldogs for 2025.

I believe Penrith are chasing Terrell to join his brother. If I was Terrell I know where I'd be heading.

Could be said about anyone in the team if we are 0-5 and they are stinking it up.
Bird will be good for us I reckon, his winger outside him will score plenty if he plays centre.
If anyone can get Bird to fire, it is Flanagan. I don't think that under Hook he was used properly and spent a lot of time being shuffled about. Flanno will use him where he sees is his best position and that is at centre. He has lightened up, he should be fitter and stronger and hopefully regained some speed. He is a no nonsense defender.

A better and fitter Bird will help us in many games.

Can we, with an already pretty weak forward pack, afford to carry Bird on the bench who has now turned into a centre again? He looks slimmer which is good, but he now might not exactly be big enough to play in the forwards. Nor does he want to. I just don't see any role for him in the first team if he wants to be an out and out centre. He may come on as a ball playing lock at times, which he has said he doesn't want to do. Bar that sort of a role, he'll get no minutes unless one of our backs gets injured and is therefore a wasted bench spot.

Who knows what the plan is, maybe they plan to use Moses Suli in the backrow? Maybe they are doubtful of Sloan at fullback and will play him on the wing with Lomax at 1?
Whatever the plan is, they'll want to have Bird playing somewhere.

He'll be second choice centre, so won't be on the bench but will come into the team if we get injuries. Last year on his contract I think? Might get a few games this year but I don't expect him to play a big part.

Hope you are right , but the way Flanno is talking him up I see him playing a big part ....... If that's the choice then we are screwed again by coaches pets .......

Why wouldn't we chase the May brothers? We need a strong front rower and we definitely need an excellent outside back + a very good utility. We are way passed the point where we turn up our noses due to past bad behaviour. Plus it makes whoever will ultimately get them pay overs if we miss out

Tyson Smoothy extends at Broncos, which makes Corey Paix surplus to requirements. I kinda wanted Kyle Flanagan to be our hooker but that seems wildly unlikely now... so Paix might be worthwhile
If we were going to go for Paix we would have by now in my opinion, he's been on the outer all off season at Brisbane. Flanagan targeting Woolford shows what type of hooker he's after. A defensively sound hooker who can help grind out that first 20-25 before Liddle comes on off the bench to impact the game is what Flanno wants from what I can tell. Paix is too similar to Liddle in style. I don't think it's who Flanno wants at all. If Paix is willing to accept a 1 year deal from us just so we can get through the season with some hooker depth then maybe, but I can't see him taking up a deal like that.

I reckon we have had a crack at every hooker on the market (and off it).. all fallen through.. so I reckon anyone with some sort of potential is an option for us.... we need to sign someone in the next few weeks though... if not a hooker.. we still need someone on the books.

Yeah and I thought Paix was really good for the Broncos in 2022, so there is something there. Although signing ex-Bronco rejects is more of an Anthony Griffin thing
