I agree with your points, but Penrith is a once in a lifetime team.Completely understand that view, but in the modern game with 6 agains, field position is way more crucial. Kicking game has become way more important, because it is one of the only ways you can swing back momentum now. The momentum used to swing throughout just about every game at one point or another, there are a lot of games now where the momentum never shifts.
You can have all the guts in the world, but in my view in the modern game with the absurd 6-again rule, it's not enough if you aren't capable of gaining valuable field position. It is the main reason for Penrith's dominance, they play a disciplined, simple game, just about to perfection, where dominating field position is the cornerstone to it all. Guts just won't be enough at the end of the day anymore when the fatigue of being dominated in field position sets in
Flanno has inherited a number of players who's cards are marked...( Just look at some of our forwards ... they get dominated )
Baby steps...lets just be happy we have a hard nosed coach who is looking for a team of tough nuts...
