We go after a lot more players than is made public, we just dont land em... that said I would like to see us be more ambitious with signing 20-23yr old kids stuck behind incumbents who have a fair bit of cup or a small bit of first grade under their belt already... maybe an outside back that could be our 10yr fullback or centre after starting out on the wing... some clubs are queued 3 deep with these guys... I think we have settled a few too many times with sloan/ct/feagai/allan for example.. 1 or 2 of them is one thing for depth, I get that.. but I think we need to take a little risk and leave a first grade spot open so we have a chance to land something with more promise..

Tamale would be one such example with the Raiders taking a real punt on him.. but have to admit I thought that was a huge gamble on their part.. but they do have other outside backs if it hadnt worked out...

Iongi is another. and again ballsy call to let Gutho go, but holy hell that is a 10yr fullback they have there.

My situation is my metabolism doesn't allow me to gain too much weight and with COPD my lungs are working overtime to get air and this means keeping my weight down. At 62kg it is certainly not a man's weight. Medication hasn't helped as well. I certainly would love to be 75kg to 80kg but cannot put the weight on now.

Fitness doesn't mean fast and furious and non stopping. It comes differently to people. Many people go to the gym, walk or run for miles and they would generally feel fit and healthy and moreso if they always eat the right foods and do not smoke and not drink excessively. Many people play sports golf, tennis, swimming, surfing, league, soccer etc etc and depending on their abilities, may play professional and if so would have to maintain quality fitness and build stamina and resilience if they want to have any success or ongoing success. Their minds also would need to be positive all of the time. Cake and Luc do have weight problems that would impact on their fitness. The fitness and strength and conditioners staff at the Dragons surely would have them on a special program for diet and fitness but I wonder??

In the case of our signings which as you say there is a deafening silence for, I wonder why things are so quiet on this issue. If we have one spot left which needs filling before the June 30 deadline surely someone in this poorly run organisation has someone lined up, surely? Another reject?
Sorry to hear that DD. It sounds like you're keeping positive, though, and taking care of yourself.

Yes, it is so quiet. At least our hopes are not getting up for nothing. Maybe they are just going to sign one of our young players, so no one else does? Sexton is probably going to Cronulla.

Yeah all good Gardenia. Thanks for your concern mate. Guys like me can't wait that much longer to see some success at the club.

It could very much be that we haven't gone to other clubs for a player to sign because they will sign a player already at the club to be in the Top 30 as you say.

So if Cronulla sign Sexton, he will compete against Hynes and Trindall for one of the halves spots?

The question is how are the Bulldogs keeping their superstar players at around 800K per year? Are there 3rd party deals aplenty? C'mon NRL for the integrity of the game please release the total 3rd party payments per team?
If not 3rd party payments it has to be something where a player if more than confident of getting a big payday.

What's Laundy done for these Bulldog players. My best guess is new pub syndications. The players invest in the pub and get ongoing profit share and a big capital gain down the track once the pub is sold (assuming it's sold for a profit).

What a shame Arthur Laundy can't spell. With Gould on board spreading deceptions and lies everywhere, we could talk about a doggeeees club with a lot of dirty laundry.

PS- yet another unsavoury incident at Accor Stadium yesterday reported to Ben Fordham this morning by a Parramatta supporter mother of two young boys under ten. The mother(and her sister) were not wearing "Parrathernalia" but her sons were and were sworn at and intimidated by an overwhelming number of Bulldogs supporters surrounding them. She had looked to find some Eels fans but they were sparse and scattered and vastly outnumbered by the Bulldogs supporters who were bussed in by the club. Needless to say they left early as I did with my family from the same stadium for the same reason back in the days Willie Mason was playing. I will never go back to Accor to watch the Bulldogs play the Dragons after that experience.

All clubs have dickhead fans but the Bulldogs fans are next level aggressive and look to intimidate opposition supporters with their in your face abuse, beating of drums, flag waving and honking horns at you as you exit.

The only signings Saints will make are to John Flannagan, Michael Flannagan or any other Flannagan that plays any sort of football.

Nah, in all seriousness, seeing Tamale, Lomax and Bostock continue to shine makes me sick. They say the player pool is getting smaller yet we have guys in our own backyard that are being snapped up by other teams yet Saints are throwing dollars and guys like Gutho, RFM, Val, Suli, Luciano, Lawrie, Rava etc. Who is overseeing the roster? Who are the scouts in this club deciding which youngsters come and go? They are seriously doing a pathetic job. Whoever the Warriors, Raiders, Dogs or even Parra have on their roster looking at the squad list they are doing a far better job. Dogs let go of Alamoti and Averillo yet bring in Xeri and Crichton. These guys make more line breaks a game than our backs a season.

Mary was able to bring in Widdop, McInnes, Tariq Sims, Hunt etc. Where has that gone? Corey Norman was a bad signing but at the time a Qld Origin player and solid player. Turned out a bad signing but at least Saints could bring someone of his calibre. Benji Marshall, got runner up in the Daly M whilst at Saints. Mary took a punt on him at half. If he did not get taken out in the Finals by the scum dogs Saints win that game. In other words Mary always tried to ensure Saints has good solid halves. Under Mary's watch we never had a junior and coaches son run the team in the halves. Mary also threw Lomax in as a youngster. Since then, whoever looked after the roster then had a much better idea and would be able to bring in some quality. Now the club has fallen so much they cannot attract any young star player only unwanted ones. My point is how the Fu#$ was Mary able to attract players to the club and not Flanno? That is my biggest concern here. We see all these clubs improving their club rosters at will because they simply can and Saints for some reason cannot as nobody wants a bar of saints anymore.

I had a similar experience years ago when my 4 kids were little. Constant swearing and comments during the game, and surrounded and intimidated after the game when trying to walk back to the P1 carpark.
Up to that point we went to every Saints Dogs game, we have never gone to a Dogs home game since, and it’s only me that goes to the Saints home games v Dogs. My wife no longer attends games at all and since that game takes zero interest in RL and is downright hostile to the sport at the professional level.

Over the last few years I thought the behaviour was much improved and similar to what every clubs supporters can come up with. I’m very sad to have read your post and see that behaviour return.

It is indeed a very sad reflection upon the Bulldog club itself . They are fully aware of this outrageous and threatening behaviour shown by some ( not all ) of their supporters yet seem unable to quell it .

They , as a member of the NRL , have a obligation to the governing body to ensure that the club’s fans behave in a responsible and acceptable manner to all who attend their matches - not only their own supporters , but each and every attendee at the game .

They should hang their heads in shame at this disgusting exhibition of so called ‘ club loyalty ‘ . Time for the NRL to step in and make an example of these morons by fining the club itself and I am referring to a hefty penalty of say $100,000 , perhaps that would make the club take preventive measures so as there are no repeat displays of this aggressive behaviour .

The scouts are most probably 'old bys' who get money for nothing. Mary didn't bring anyone to the Dragons but was part of the reason many left the club.

You are right about Bostock, Temale and Lomax. Many on this forum were speaking about these players and questioning

Mary was well liked by players. The team he assembled was very impressive.

I always felt as though after the 2018 season where we should've been in the prelims if not the GF we should've sacked him then. He was burnt out.

Then 2019 started with JDB being suspended and Widdop wanting out and it was all over from there and look where we are.

Hook was a terrible appointment and SF was bypassed by how many clubs before he landed at the Saints? I still have hope for SF, but gee he needs to start landing some players.
