It's possible. But the lack of effort came after Mahoney came onto the field, including from Mahoney. We conceded two tries in the 20 minutes he was on the bench, and nine tries in the final 60.

And surely you know that tries are scored by other factors than particular players are on the field at a particular time in a match. Come on Pou Bear, now your just creatng your argument around the fact that you want to create an argument.

The Storm set up the overall scoreline up in the first 20 minutes, even though they didn't score all the tries then.

Why bother, when you'll just do a 180 afterwards...and I'm not talking about darts, merkin!
I was angry last night, Gaz. And I only thought he had turned it around after our start. I’ve been fairly consistent about him for a few seasons now mate.

I only listened to about 22 mins of it on the radio and even I know that putting Reed on the bench and letting Guth and Terepo share hooker for 35 mins? or more , was dumb as dogshit to do. Absolute stupidity. It might not of cost us the game but it did cost us at least 20pts F/A IMO.

Given Mahoney's work rate when he came on Melbourne could've scored a lot more tries in that first 20. We were already carrying Paulo.

I didn't see any dummy half issues that caused us to concede so much possession. We didn't have enough ball for it to matter.

Don't forget that Cameron Smith also plays dummy half, and that merkin's a ref whisperer.
I still wanna know why Moeroa was penalised for smashing addo-carrr around the waste after he picked up the kick and ran 20m ... led to their second try

And why Cam is fine to sprint 5m offside, get called out, by the ref offside cam cam cam cam, so then stand infront of the ball carrier and bump chests, and absolutely nothing from the referee - quite blatant, quite ridiculous, quite inept favouritism

I got pissed off by a small incident too, then we got smashed so I stopped caring.
It was before we gave up, Gutherson took a 20 tap, ran 12 metres, and the ref called surrender, so the lay all over him and got all their players back on side.
6 tackles later we put up a shit bomb, it is tapped in field, cam Smith dives on it, surrender is called, our bloke lies on him, as he should, but as the ref is calling surrender, Munster at dummy half pushes our player off and he gets a quick play the ball, setting up their momentum. The get all the f**king calls.

I reckon Saturday nights debacle was determined before kick-off and to be honest, I can understand how it happened and I wish there was a solution to it.

I honestly think our players went into the match knowing that no matter how well they played, they were not going to win. If we as supporters can sit back and see the favouritism certain former Australian captains get from refs, if we can see the amount of 50/50 calls that typically go against us, if we know that the lead ref on the night has never done anything to show fairness when reffing us, if the commentators and press are non-stop talking about how good the opposition is, why do we assume the players don't see this and why do we think it wouldn't have an effect on them.

We are a team that in 2019 is trying to re-build a level of confidence that was so eroded in 2018 that we would hardly have beaten a 3rd string park team. We went into a game in Brisbane against arguably the best club consistently over the last 15 years and despite our sometimes good performances in 2019 so far, there is no way the players would have actually thought they could beat Melbourne. Yes, they are professional athletes and should have given their all to try and win it, but seriously, how hard would that be when you know the odds are stacked against you.

Like I said, I am not excusing a lack of attitude and commitment, however I just reckon they knew they were going to be beaten before they started - I knew, you knew, everyone knew - why wouldn't the players have known?

There is a difference between losing and getting belted.
Yep, and the difference was Bellamy's challenge to his own team at last weeks press conference. Each individual Storm player wanted to improve their own performance and as a result, the team performance improved. Name one Storm player who had a bad game? Not one of them, because they each were too concerned Bellamy meant them.

This is kinda what I was thinking on the night.

We were never going to win. The actual result is horrendous, absolutely, but just the way we went about things. We looked panicked from the outset and almost like we had forgotten how to play.

The usual suspects will lay all that on the coach, of course, and try and spin that as a solely anti-BA argument but the players themselves have to bear as much of the blame for that as the coach. Particularly the in-field leaders

Once again, all of this is far more complicated than just the "hurr-durr blame BA" many fans seem to come out with.

I can't believe some of those excuses! You can't blame the players for thinking they couldn't win! FMD.

Yes Perenara was ref along with Cam, but to take the field in a "panicked" state?

We need to be mentally tougher than that.

I get that we are in a much better place than last season. We have improvement. But any credibility we had gained evaporated Saturday night. We are a laughing stock again.

We need to buy some experienced leaders for a start. We have 14 off contract so there is no excuse. We recruited well for this season so I see no reason why we couldn't do it again.
