If our club goes into games with the mindset of not being able to win then we get what we deserve.

I reckon Saturday nights debacle was determined before kick-off and to be honest, I can understand how it happened and I wish there was a solution to it.
I honestly think our players went into the match knowing that no matter how well they played, they were not going to win. If we as supporters can sit back and see the favouritism certain former Australian captains get from refs, if we can see the amount of 50/50 calls that typically go against us, if we know that the lead ref on the night has never done anything to show fairness when reffing us, if the commentators and press are non-stop talking about how good the opposition is, why do we assume the players don't see this and why do we think it wouldn't have an effect on them.
We are a team that in 2019 is trying to re-build a level of confidence that was so eroded in 2018 that we would hardly have beaten a 3rd string park team. We went into a game in Brisbane against arguably the best club consistently over the last 15 years and despite our sometimes good performances in 2019 so far, there is no way the players would have actually thought they could beat Melbourne. Yes, they are professional athletes and should have given their all to try and win it, but seriously, how hard would that be when you know the odds are stacked against you.
Like I said, I am not excusing a lack of attitude and commitment, however I just reckon they knew they were going to be beaten before they started - I knew, you knew, everyone knew - why wouldn't the players have known?
Yeah... I kinda think that's what I said too. That's literally the point...so I'm not sure why the rant?
You reckon Hindmarsh forgave the Storm? Or you reckon political correctness stops it being talked about?I’m not sure players think that way though, how many players after 2009 and the discovery of the cheating from the Storm didn’t even bat an eyelid.
As a supporter i still wish unimaginable amounts of ill will on everyone associated to the point of irrationality!
The players just shrugged their shoulders to the point of not even a remote dig. I didn’t expect them to rip in too hard but i would have expected something from the team that destroyed their premiership dreams.
While in theory you should be right i just think sports people get used to shit calls and media being f**kwits and that isn’t a factor.
This is kinda what I was thinking on the night.
We were never going to win. The actual result is horrendous, absolutely, but just the way we went about things. We looked panicked from the outset and almost like we had forgotten how to play.
The usual suspects will lay all that on the coach, of course, and try and spin that as a solely anti-BA argument but the players themselves have to bear as much of the blame for that as the coach. Particularly the in-field leaders
Once again, all of this is far more complicated than just the "hurr-durr blame BA" many fans seem to come out with.
Read it again and tell me that was a rant? That's literally the point...so I'm not sure why the rant?

I really don’t know but it amazes me that none of the players have ever lashed out about it. You play the game to win a premiership and it just seems like they accepted it.
They aren’t fans like us so i get they’re not as passionate but the likes of Burt, Cayless and Hindmarsh are club legends and we’re cheated out of a premiership and even worse it’s the only thing they hassle Hindmarsh about on Fox and he has maybe once mentioned?
Why do they need to be PC now?

I don't think it's about being PC or whatever.
I just think what would be the point from their perspective? They satisfy a few fans, and come across as bitter whingers to others. Burt and Cayless also have to consider potential employers, having moved into coaching. Not just Melbourne but others who may have been involved at the club at the time and moved on. Hindy has to consider media personalities and how something like that might affect his prospects/relationships within that industry.
It happened, it's done, it can't be changed. Sometimes the greater value comes from saying nothing at all.
Sometimes in professional sports, the adage what happens on the field, stays on the field is held very fast so that professionalism can continue for individual players in their connected pursuits.I really don’t know but it amazes me that none of the players have ever lashed out about it. You play the game to win a premiership and it just seems like they accepted it.

Well that’s the exact opposite of what Mahoney was quoted as saying in the article below:I reckon Saturday nights debacle was determined before kick-off and to be honest, I can understand how it happened and I wish there was a solution to it.

Well then we need 17 MahoneysWell that’s the exact opposite of what Mahoney was quoted as saying in the article below:
"I didn't expect that at all. I expect to win every week and that's my mentality every week, is to win."

Not surprisingly, he also expects to be starting next week.
Loosers breed loosers. No one's told him yet that we're a bunch of loosers. I'm not sure if that's good leadership, bad leadership or just an oversight. But I am sure he'll pick up on it soon enough.

Agree.Yep, and the difference was Bellamy's challenge to his own team at last weeks press conference. Each individual Storm player wanted to improve their own performance and as a result, the team performance improved. Name one Storm player who had a bad game? Not one of them, because they each were too concerned Bellamy meant them.
