I think that phrase means you can improve a player's speed but not to the point of turning a slow player into a fast one.How can you not teach speed?

BA has done a great job reinstalling us back to competitiveness but it's probably time on his tenure. The cracks are starting to appear and have probably been there for a while now. Players start getting sick of the same voice. BA admitted it as much in 2018. We have given him another 5 years since then. It's more than likely time to do a reboot and start fresh with a new coach and new ideas and with it put a massive broom through the joint.Mattos decision is a a decision based on poor leadership and direction.
Your frustration should be directed towards the club. It should never have come to this. The club and leadership group within the team dropped the ball on this.
Poor decisions by players are generally a reflection of the hierarchy within the club. There are always circumstances that slip between the cracks - the real concern is when these circumstances or similar become a regular occurrence. I dare say the club will be adjusting their processes surrounding these scenarios in the future.
I think the phrase should be clearer.I think that phrase means you can improve a player's speed but not to the point of turning a slow player into a fast one.
Are you writing off our season after two minor losses to two teams that are Top 4 contenders?BA has done a great job reinstalling us back to competitiveness but it's probably time on his tenure. No need for a projector either.
No, I’m not but I am concerned about the one thing that wins comps and that is defence. Even last year we were the 8th best defensive team despite making a grand final. Are you writing off our season after two minor losses to two teams that are Top 4 contenders?
I am. I've seen enough. I don't think we've got the squad to contend for the title this season. I don't think the Sharks or Storm contend for the title either. Are you writing off our season after two minor losses to two teams that are Top 4 contenders?
We overachieved last year by making the GF. I still think we can go pretty deep again this year. Need to tighten up our defence though.I am. I've seen enough. I don't think we've got the squad to contend for the title this season. I don't think the Sharks or Storm contend for the title either.
Hodgson won't be an effective 80 minute player and we have to play our starting middles for too many minutes. Particularly if we choose to play Matterson on an edge.
Our defence was attrocious last year, I fear it will be worse this year, given the above.
The coaching staff don't have any faith on most of the players who are going to be interchange forwards, and the players all know it.
Given my points before, I don't think that is going to happen.Need to tighten up our defence though.
I think the competition, at least for the Top 8, will be alot closer this year. Last year there was probably only 10 teams capable of making the Top 8 half way through the season. I think this year it's potential that number could be 14 or 15 at the same stage.I still think we can go pretty deep again this year.
Are you thinking that we're in any shape to challenge to win the comp? Are you writing off our season after two minor losses to two teams that are Top 4 contenders?
Unlikely, but I still think we’ll have pretty good season. I get that BA should probably be rissoled if we aren’t premiers. Depends though, if we play really well next week he might be a great coach again. Are you thinking that we're in any shape to challenge to win the comp?
It’s one of those things you either have or you don’t. And as an adult rugby league player who has trained your whole life, you are not making any major noticeable differences to your speed no matter how much training you do.
The incremental difference that coaching speed might create is so minor that you wouldn’t be able to tell if any player has reached his potential unless you have access to their 40m sprint times. But as a football fan watching him run, you won’t be able to tell if Gutho is 0.02sec faster. That is the kind of minor difference that coaching speed might produce as an adult rugby league player. You can always coach speed.
But as an example I am never going to run as fast as Usain Bolt but I can be coached to run at my potential.
I don't think many of our players are at their potential at the moment.
Fair point re fickleness. A good season is at minimum making the top 8... and given BA's duration (and rumoured KPIs from last season) also into the final 4.Unlikely, but I still think we’ll have pretty good season. Quite possibly. Will be difficult to maintain last year’s level with an inferior squad.Fair point re fickleness. A good season is at minimum making the top 8... and given BA's duration (and rumoured KPIs from last season) also into the final 4.
Personally I think both are 50-50 at best - I just can't see us worrying any of the sides over the next three weeks, as our weaknesses (or Waqa-nesses, among others) are there for all coaches to see, with no personnel changes available to paper over the cracks.
So why do we have an inferior squad? Because we as a club we f**ked up and let 2 players go in particular that would be very handy now.Quite possibly. Will be difficult to maintain last year’s level with an inferior squad.
Penrith f**ked up as well by letting go of Api and Kikau. So why do we have an inferior squad? Because we as a club f**ked up and let 2 players go in particular that would be very handy now.
Yes but they didn’t try and change their players minds like we did with Papali’i. Mahoney himself questioned his decision. You should pounce on shit like that. I hate the little cauliflowered merkin but he is Cameron Smith compared to this geriatric we have now.Penrith f**ked up as well by letting go of Api and Kikau.
Do you reckon if we paid them what they were chasing that we’d still be a chance to re-sign Moses?Yes but they didn’t try and change their players minds like we did with Papali’i. BA hasn’t learnt with these old players that were once good. Watmough comes to mind immediately. He is a stubborn prick which is why again he will pick the two synchronised above ground swimmers.
Nothing surer.
If we release Nathan Brown we would. Apparently we had the money already for Papali’i if he changed his mind. Which is why we are looking at Sironen regardless of what Moses was/is doing.Do you reckon if we paid them what they were chasing that we’d still be a chance to re-sign Moses?
