Mattos decision is a a decision based on poor leadership and direction.

Your frustration should be directed towards the club. It should never have come to this. The club and leadership group within the team dropped the ball on this.

Poor decisions by players are generally a reflection of the hierarchy within the club. There are always circumstances that slip between the cracks - the real concern is when these circumstances or similar become a regular occurrence. I dare say the club will be adjusting their processes surrounding these scenarios in the future.
I'm surprised that matto actually makes the call and not the club

I agree 100% our football department must have clocked off last year once Penrith jumped 2 tries ahead in the GF.

Where was BA, Football Manager, MON when matto goes I am accepting a 3 match ban here instead of a 4k fine.

Who at the club signed off on the decision before advising the NRL. They are just as culpable.

He seems like a really dumb merkin. I reckon he and Waqa get on well.
Hes turns his back and wanders back into the defence line. His body language is atrocious. He did train well apparently against our 2s that got wacked by 40 yesterday and have looked anything but a well coached footy team.
Cayless? Who honestly thought that was going to work. Id love to have an honest conversation with McGreggor, Ennis, Johns, Carr, Wolford, Holbrook etc about their opinion of the Eels coaching set up.

The Reggie’s show yesterday underlined the lack of depth, Rodwell is an honest toiler but isn’t a good as Makatoa, so why promote him.

Ogden is a fillin, but wouldn’t have the impact of Grieg. The backrowers would both do a job! But need to tidy up a few things. Dan Keir was good at lock , but is in a different postcode to Hopgood and is on a second tier deal, not full time.

As for the backs, Kolomafe and Leumeleume do have some speed, but would prefer Kolomafe but not certain he is ready. The centres were very ordinary yesterday, both found it tough going and positioning wasn’t good. JA is struggling to impose anything in attack, haven’t seen any major improvement in the past year or so. He is a game manager as he always was, that’s not going to cut it in the NRL other than a handy back up.

Rankin is Rankin, he is exposed as a fullback, probably can cover as a half.

Yates is busy, Rein does attack better but neither would make a difference higher up.

Seems that the cupboard is bare and it’s important that we see development from Flegg and Ball going forward.

One thing we lack overall, Is the one thing you can’t teach “speed”.

Far from contradicting you but Moses speed is next level. Brown is super quick as well. Where we lack genuine speed is 1 through 5. Sivo can be forgiven given his raw power but he could do so much more. Waqa is fast but rarely just runs without that jinking shit when hes not dropping the ball. If a footy field ran sideways Bailey would be a legend. Gutho gives his all but compare him to say Reece Walsh. He has other attributes though. Penisini looked pedestrian yesterday.
Lets get Toupu until we can develop Komolafe. Ffs Ill chip in. We need him now.

COrrect, should have made the point more direct, our three quarter line lacks top end speed, Waqa apparently has it but it’s locked away with his mental speed. Gutho is fine and Penisini is OK, remember the days when despite other failings, Oudenryn, Whearet and Chalmers were tearaways and if they got space, good night .

The Sharks in both grades had backs that highlighted this issue.

How can you not teach speed?

My first game at Cumberland was in 1964 as a young boy. Over the next few years we had a couple of wingers, the likes of which Ive never seen since. Arch Brown and Dave Irvine. We wernt a great team but when either of those guys got a sniff they were gone. An average team but the potential of seeing those guys in open spaces made it totally worthwhile. Back to sleep Gazza.

Is it too early to add Jirah Momoisea? I know that not every player is going to hit the ground running at a new club like Papali'i or Hopgood, but I just don't see what this bloke offers.

I dont know what he offers to be honest, there was some hype about him pre season but after watching him in the trials I'm not even sure why he's in first grade. That play he did after Parra just scored, I shouldve hooked him straight after.

I believe he was. I don't expect he'll be seen in the NRL again. He should find a pub side and leave.

It’s one of those things you either have or you don’t. And as an adult rugby league player who has trained your whole life, you are not making any major noticeable differences to your speed no matter how much training you do.
What if someone tells you to go faster?
