We lose a lot of experience next season in Simmo, Doogs and Cross, so one or two experienced guys would be good.
He isn't the best player in the world, but he is as good as Rogers easily, and on about the same money you would think.
Gids and Finch can lead the backs, and Mark Tuafua is an old head who can lead the forwards but maybe we need a big guy like Snowy as well.

In short - Finch is a good fit for us - experienced, cheap, and the skillset we need.

I think Parra fans are obssessed with this notion that noone can have their players but they can pinch who they like. The dribble that goes on in regards to the retention of Mateo, Inu, Fui and keating is quite amusing. Finch is not your problem anymore so why do you care.

Hmm. Obviously it's no long term solution, but could potentially be a very good short term buy.

He'll do his job which is usually at a higher standard than what any halve in our club can offer.

Finch has one more premierships than the entire Parra side (Except Tahu, who of course won his with a non choking side the Knights).

Finch also won his against your side after been given the flick. Go Mortimer.

I don't understand the hostile response to this post.

Given the pilloring Finch has gotten from Roosters and then Eels fans, it was a fair call.

I can think of better options, but I can't think of many. We could do worse.

Meh not worth it the guy looks good at Melbourne because of more talented team mates he'd struggle here, plus he's been playing a long time and would have to be about 30 ?

Once again Bellamy has turned a heap of nobodies into very f**king good first graders - Tolman, Neilson, Finch, Hinchcliff, Cahill, Tandy, Bromwich, Proctor, Lowrie and Macdougall. Just sign Bellamy. Full stop.

Just passing comment on a thread title that jumped out from the main menu.

I didn't have huge problems with Finch at the Eels, and didn't have huge problems when he decided to leave. Just strange to see him bandied about like a saviour for any club...

I understand, just surprised that he's being targeted as a star recruit. And I'm not sold on Mortimer to be honest. He has a long way to go imo to establish himself as a consistent first grade half.

Fair enough. Finch will work hard and do his job, but won't bring anything flashy. That's OK if you've got star power out wide and a pack that works all day hard like Melbourne, but if you haven't (like Parra except that run home last year) then imo Finch isn't the answer.

finch is better than what we have
but he wont be worth the money he would be signed for
because he's now a 'premiership winning' five-eighth
if we could get him for 50K like the storm then go for it
but the 200K he would probably demand, more cuz he has to live in newcastle
then definitely not worth it
