, more cuz he has to live in newcastle
Finch spent his best childhood years in Valentine and has stayed friends with the Newtons and has been know to holiday with them.

He is one guy who knows that he could have a good lifestyle in Newcastle.
He knows the nice parts of Newcastle better than most of us in fact.

Well honestly a matured Finch who is 29/30/31 on a 3 year contract couldn't be all that bad. Experience is key for us I think. We look like lost sheep for long periods in the game he could perhaps help us in this respect...

Honestly as someone mentioned before sign Bellamy. We definately need a high profile coach. We tried with BSmith but failed so went back into our shell...

We lose a lot of experience next season in Simmo, Doogs and Cross, so one or two experienced guys would be good.
He isn't the best player in the world, but he is as good as Rogers easily, and on about the same money you would think.
Gids and Finch can lead the backs, and Mark Tuafua is an old head who can lead the forwards but maybe we need a big guy like Snowy as well.

In short - Finch is a good fit for us - experienced, cheap, and the skillset we need.

I am sorry he sh*ts all over rogers, maybe not talent wise but consistancy wise and effort wise for sure and he wont be that cheap $200k I'd say.

I definitely wouldn't say with Smith we failed. Remember that we were a top four team for the majority of last year under his coaching.

As Spot On has said, Bellamy would be the answer but he is locked up. The amount of Nevilles he has produced is amazing. First time i had seen Cahill last night and has this player got some potential. I was amazed not only with his on ball work but his positional play and the amount of off ball work was highly impressive.

In fact the number of players Melbourne have in their plays absolutely sh%ts all over the very one dimensional plays of the knight.

In regards to Finch, I'm pretty impartial when it comes to signing him. For 200K it could prove to be worth it if he and mullen become a good partnership. He made his debut at 17, so he is one of the most experienced halves in the comp. He offers the team direction which the team doesnt have atm. But at the same time, if we sign him for 3 years and a quality half becomes available, then it would be disappointing.

I believe Bellamy will go down as one of if not the greatest coach in the game's history. Hardly a stretch I know. Jack Gibson purists will blow up about this and are more than entitled to. However the bloke has made four successive grand finals despite incredible player roster turnovers. His gift seems to be his ability to pick players who are good at a particular role. Tolman is simply superb. His ability is no accident. He will not come cheap but I do not believe he will leave Melbourne just yet. If I was him I wouldn't anyway. Folau made that mistake and his career has stalled IMO. Tolman is 21 and four years from now he can name his price anyway.

Once again Bellamy has turned a heap of nobodies into very f**king good first graders - Tolman, Neilson, Finch, Hinchcliff, Cahill, Tandy, Bromwich, Proctor, Lowrie and Macdougall. Just sign Bellamy. Full stop.

don forget rory kostajasyn, that guy, was probably destined to be a nsw cup journeyman. bellamy has lost players and gone swept through the nsw/nyc cup ranks and picked a no offense, a bunch of nobodies and turned them into first graders. i dont like the way he coaches melbourne in that robotic hit up-kick fashion, but you gotta admire the bloke for being able to produce first graders

ATM Finch is probably the best half available who we have any chance of getting to come here. I read somewhere last week that he would be more than happy to play for Newcastle, and lets face it he would be streets ahead of what we have. I wouldn't be unhappy if we signed him.

I hate the little red-headed sack of ejaculate more than just about anybody, but I'd cheer a halves pairing of Hitler and Germaine Greer if I thought it would see us playing competitive football more often.

He's been good without being great at pretty much every club he's played for, and was the spark that ultimately put us to bed against the Storm two weeks ago. I honestly think Dureau's been better than Mullen so far this year, but with Mullen being the anointed successor to Joey's throne, I think he needs more reliable and experienced help than what Dureau or Rogers can give him.

This, despite more time in first grade, more time with Joey and ultimately more experience is probably the biggest concern, but he'll continue to avoid criticism somehow. Hammer Dureau for his mistakes all you want but at least he's out there trying. You'd be forgiven if you thought Mullen hadn't played the last two weeks.

So those who don't want finch are happy with Dureau then??

If not who would u sign?

Finch is a developed, experienced player it's what we need at this time while we develop our own halves. Sign a toyota cup player and expect mediocracy for the next 2 seasons atleast.

Mullen speed and step are what keeps everyone off his back

He and Scotty are opposites. Mullo has the talent and Scotty has the will

On today's performance, I'd rather Dureau than Mullen. In fact, I could say that about just about any of our game's this year. Kid has all of the talent in the world, but he's never going to realize his potential playing for us.

We don't push him. We never push locals.

I was a fan of the young guy, not so much these days. One thing he does bring is a passion for winning, and a lot of experience. I dont think he would be a bad acquisition.

You can bet your arse we will end up with either Kimmorley or Finch.

Don't get this post at all.

Mullen stepped up and scored what should have been the match winning try. The kind of things you expect of a champion player when it counts.

Unfortunately the rest of the team made sure that his individual brilliance to win the match was a moot point.
