The state of rugby league since restart

I know I shouldn't engage but...

If for example somebody has had an underlying medical condition - let's say cancer and they've been treating it for two years. Then they get Covid and die. What should be put on the death certificate?

If that patient had cancer and at risk of dying from it, then I would guess in the past the cancer would of been the main(primary) cause due to having already compromised the hosts immune system. That is why they don't ordinarily put the flu or pneumonia on the death certificate of people who had a major disease that had already compromised their immune systems, but put it down on as a secondary or third cause.

If they followed the same death certificate protocols for Covid-19 I would suggest that the death toll would be quite different. However at the moment they are jumping at everything as Covid-19 caused deaths. Look at how quick they shot out of the gates to announce that 30 year old as a Covid victim only having to retract it later as he didn't even having it. They want to justify their response and they need everyone to be in fear and to believe it.

But none of their predictions have come true. even accounting for the reasonably quick response.

You don't judge the season in June. Let's see how this all goes in October/November.

To be honest, everything looks good at the moment because the Eels are winning. Even if there wasn't the 6 again restart thing, I'd still be loving it.

I always love these takes:
  • Who actually benefits from "jumping at everything as COVID-19"?
  • When does one instance of an error conclude in it being a systemic issue?
  • "None of the predictions have come true", except the mortality rate is about what they predicted, that social distancing has been effective - so much that even the amount of flu cases are down on previous years.

Would some on here stop complaining about RL so much, and also stop trying to be funny, very very few ppl are funny on this planet and that includes on here, thank you.

I think the IRL should make it law that no competition can have more than 1 referee on the paddock until international matches has more than 1.

big hit!

If you watch on Kayo you can scroll back a few seconds. They turn out to be correct obvious decisions every time.

The whole opening segment on NRL360 last night was about the inconsistencies.

Was obviously bound to happen, and it is

Would some on here stop making such ludicrous suggestions of rule changes, also stop having "ideas", very very few ppl have good ideas on this planet and that includes on here, thank you.

I take on board what you say about complaining. I'll endeavour to stop complaining about the game (especially the coaches who I have to admit I hate and want to get rid of).

As for stopping being funny - no way pal. Lots of people are funny on here, especially me but I have the advantage that I have taken classes in humour. So: no.

The thing is that I think the inconsistency is that they really should be calling a lot more penalties/6As, especially for flops. Almost every tackle involving 3 players (so most tackles) involves a flop and they seemed to have stopped policing that about 10 years ago and threw it in the too hard basket. Again, that is on the coaches for ruining the game.

The good thing about 6 again is the refs are under a lot less scrutiny than when they blew the whistle. Partly as its less impacting and partly as TV doesnt have time to replay and review the decision. Last Rd seemed a bit lapse compared to first 2 under new rule but I see the NRL has put out a message to clubs that they will be sin binning. Just keep backing the refs to stomp on it and eventually we'll get there.

Yep, should have called 6 again far more often last weekend.

Be interesting the second attempt in a tackle starts to get policed. Teams are getting away with it more and more

I suspect they do it while ref is checking the 10m

When you say "second attempt" is this a flop or some other thing.

Interesting table they put up on NRL360 last night of number of times each ref has rung the 6 again bell. Big difference between the most and least (double).

Not quite a flop but close

Somethimes is just second attempt like a flop

Could be a second tackle attempt as a player is trying to move or get up or a extra pull or shove

The other ones I would to see stopped are
- the person playing ball taking 1 step over the tackler
- or taking a full 1m step sideways away from the tackle location to put the markers offside

I've given the restart a few rounds of watching but have come to the conclusion that the game has just become boring - I wouldn't go and watch a game of touch footy but this is what it is like now - rare to see a correct play the ball also.
I'm tired of the subjective way the 6 again rule is used - far too inconsistent...Far too many players offside, markers always not square etc etc…
The game has become a farce and that's disappointing.
