I remember Parramatta's attitude in 2006, awful, then something happened and it all changed, what was that again... Their attitude got better somehow, it must have just been coincidence

Yeah their attitude got better in 2006 then it got worse in 2008, then got better in '09 before turning to shit again in 2010. The attitude was good again last year and now once again it's shit.

Do you not see a pattern forming?

You are a genius. I reckon you should email the club and give them your solutions. Tell them you've nailed it, all the way from the other side of the country without really having a f**king clue about what's going on in the joint. Merkin.

You reckon it's impossible that a group of players has colluded to get four (nearly five) coaches thrown out of the club since 2005?

Yet somehow you've got proof that 'Kearney can't coach' is the sole reason for our change of attitude this season?

So we should sack Anderson?

Oh wait................................ what year is this again?

Same senior players same attitude problems

Damn straight.

Yet for some reason it's a f**king crime to point out that it might not be coincidence.

Even if this bullshit rumour is true, what sort of coach gets white-anted by a handful of players?

Smith
Taylor
Hagan
Anderson

In short, a useless one. Only one of these luminaries is coaching first grade right now.

Would Bellamy or Hasler or Bennett or Sheens or Cleary get white-anted by their players? Or would they put their foot down and stop that nonsense? Either way, Kearney is either a rubbish coach, or a meek one. Niether is a good thing

Agreed.

If Kearney doesn't assert his authority and make some tough calls he will (rightfully) end up on the coaching scrap-heap like so many former Eels coaches.

I'm watching with interest. I lost a lot of respect for him when he put Luke Burt back into the team. What alse are the idiot fans going to force him to do?

Just because we can see they're there, doesn't mean we know which ones they are.

I reckon Kearney knows but.

Muckraking at it's best. Facts or STFU.

Highly unlikely but not impossible. Even Bradman got a duck.

I don't think I've ever said that Kearney can't coach. I don't necessarily believe that there has been a 'change' in attitude either.

You are probably right, though. f**king white ants.

This talk of Kearney vs the players reminds me of what was commonly quoted from Kearney's initial address to the players:

"If you don't want to be here, you can pi** off now" (or words to that effect).

So, if it is true that Kearney, Arthurs and Nolan make all the big decisions, it should be pretty easy to squash any player revolt (if there is one). Just drop of the troublemakers to Wenty, and start developing the side for next season.

Personally, I don't buy the player revolt theory. I could see a public (and media) revolt against Kearney if Hayne or Hindy was dropped, but not any other player, not after the form that has been displayed so far this season.

As I see it, the only players who could be confident of picking up a decent contract at another club would be Hayne, Mannah, Maitua, Allgood, Sio, Sandow and W. Tonga. Moi Moi and Hindy would be picked up, but not for huge money given their age. I can't see Mannah, Allgood, Sio, Hindy or Moi Moi as trouble makers, can you?

We will acheive nothing by sacking Kearney now ( yes I am a Kearney fan however I do agree some of the team decisions and our style of play needs some questions asked). He should be given the whole three years to see if he can turn the club around. He isn't the first coach to struggle to get the eels to perform. I know there has been plenty of discussions around our form last season, however my opinion was considering the squad we had we performed quite good but so far this year we have been terrible. If you look at our last 3 coaches (disregard Taylor) they seem to have had this problem as well, good season followed by a sh*t season.

Smith

2001 - Brillant season followed from 2002 to 2004 which were crap
2005 - Minor Premiers followed by a terrible start to the 2006 season

Hagan

2007 - Got to GF qualifier then terrible in 2008

Anderson

2009 - Got to GF, then terrible 2010 after we recruited some decent players.

So Kearney has not been the only coach that has had problems with the eels. I like what Matty Johns said, sometimes you need to treat players like sh*t horses and not blame the jockey.

If we win a wooden spoon this year with the roster he has assembled then not only should he be sacked but charged for fraud

Yep. He got sledged last year, but the apologists said that it wasn't his fault because it wasn't his squad. Look for 2012 to be the year.

Now it's a 5 year plan Roy ? FFS. Politics aside, there are not many professional sporting teams that tolerate such poor results. If this was football (soccer) the coach would have been gonskis ages ago.

It's just accepting mediocrity. Some fans seem ok with it too. Only way we'll get rid of our losing culture is if we raise the standard of what we expect.

The reason they sacked anderson was because we were told missing the semi's was unacceptable for this club so they brought in kearney.

So with a new coach we were meant to fix the incosistency from game to game under longface leader then after round 12 2011 it became a rebuilding year with a 3 year plan.

So after round 4 its a clean out year which has now become 5 year plan.

mmmmmmm surely the buck has to stop somewhere

You`ve said some pretty stupid things on this forum, but this is the stupidest. What players do we have in the side now who were there in 2005? Um .... Hindmarsh. Burt. Anyone else? A two man revolution.

I think Steven Kearney will prove to be a great success ............. as an assistant coach. But I don`t think he`ll ever make a first grade one. This club needs to aim high and look for a REAL good quality coach - of the calibre of Hasler, Bennett or Bellamy. We will have to wait until one becomes available and then throw a bank at them.
Hindsight is a beautiful thing, but we should never have gotten rid of Anderson. His downfall was sticking with that nuffy Mortimer. Anyway.
As has been said, this side we have now is not so great, but it`s better on paper than it is on the field. Doesn`t matter what spin you put on that, it`s the coach`s responsibility. Full stop. However, to sack Kearney right now would be silly. We`ve still got Hayne to come back. To take Hayne out of our side is a bit like taking Smith AND Slater out of Melbourne. It`s a HUGE loss. In short, Kearney might not be quite as bad as he seems; but, for me, he`s clearly not the answer.
