when is this meeting today between SK and the board?
realistically what will this achieve, besides putting him on notice the board and CEO don't have the football experience. As Steve sharp says we need to look at the corporate structure to have more football experience overseeing the NRL side.

The board have inflamed the fan anger by talking extension etc when the fans have not seen anything from Kearney to warrant the blind faith they are showing.

Yes, The Board has been guilty of building the hype without justification. That page one letter from Kearney in that game day magazine was just embarrassing - moreso given the eventual match result.

It started with "Tonight is not just another game. It's an opportunity to make things right." With comments about having pride in the jumper, working hard on all aspects of our game, putting in a positive performance in front of the home crowd and getting the first win of the year.

I don't know how to scan it, otherwise I'd put it up for a laugh! I only read it at half time, when we were 20+ to 0 down... very hollow stuff at that point. I don't know where he goes from here, his motivation, game plans etc simply do not work.

Yep. He got sledged last year, but the apologists said that it wasn't his fault because it wasn't his squad. Look for 2012 to be the year.

Now it's a 5 year plan Roy ? FFS. Politics aside, there are not many professional sporting teams that tolerate such poor results. If this was football (soccer) the coach would have been gonskis ages ago.

Took sir alex 7 years to win a league title . . . Do you really think LFC will sack 'king Kenny'? Although nothing would suprise me about that rabble!!!

I think that blaming the Board for on-field performances is drawing a long bow. No other club's Board would be in the firing line for what the team dishes out unless they are influencing the coach's roster and team selections.

The buck stops with the players and the coach. The coach needs to get them working and winning.

Blaming the roster is a copout.

If we were losing by a couple each week then the knives wouldn't be out for the coach. Facts are that after 4 rounds we are -97 on the F&A differential. He needs to fix that or go.

Not blaming the board for the on field performances, but who appointed the coach?
3P have promised a lot be delivered very little.

Any comparison to EPL is ridiculous as they don't have salary caps. It's more about how much $$$ you spend than who your coach is.

Yeah, I suppose he should have written a letter saying we are shit
Maybe he's saving that for this week's program - he's really left himself nowhere to go from here.

Over the past year or few, some people at our club could have done worse than follow the old advice - don't promise the world, and you won't leave people disappointed.

I don't see what the problem is with the coach trying to be positive? If he wrote a letter saying that we sucked and were likely to get the spoon, he'd be torn a new one for doing that! Even if he 'didn't promise the world' and said we might just win a few games this year he'd be blasted for having a negative attitude. You can't have it both ways.

if they told people the truth that club is rebuilding it will struggle for a couple of year then all the fair weather supporters won't buy memberships for those couple of years and that impact the bottom line, because we know now that football is all about money now not results........

There's no both ways. Just having the coach not do a hype/spin article at all would be a better option, than him ending up looking like more of a goose.

I suspect that will exactly be what happens in this week's magazine - no "coach's letter to fans", as there is nothing he could possible write after last week's fantasy land tripe.

we don't even get newsletters anymore with features written by the coach anothyer cost cutting measure.
Souths have the coach announce the team each week on video and explain why there are changes and who injuried etc.
We get the assitant to answer some questions posted on facebook.

I'm sure Sir Alex actually showed some level of coaching ability in the first 6 years, certainly more than Kearney has shown thus far.

Winning a Title is a different thing to Winning games and playing well.

agree 100% and our recent performances need to be addressed and quickly. However i was just outlining how in this instance the owners and board stuck by their guns through very poor times, because he had a plan.

Now whether it is a 3,5 or 10 year plan is irrelevant, when you hire someone on terms and conditions, KPI's or even on a vision or plan, that person should be given the full duration of their contract to execute and deliver.
