Well, it's been the weekend from hell.

The Mighty Heighties U/9's finished their season after being defeated in the semi-final by St.Johns Lakemba. Well done fellas, you did yourselves proud. On top of that, the 13's and 15's both lost and then my Dragons ended their chances of a semi spot with the defeat at the hands of the Bunnies and Steve Clark.
Add to that the fact that The Scum won and you'll understand why this Monday sees me dirtier than a bear with a festery clacka. :(

That's a bugger. Good luck to them though... its been great following their progress here in the Swamp Preach.

As for the rest... well... I assume the sun came up this this morning so its not all doom and gloom.

Yeah, and I've just come in from smelling the roses too, Willow. lol. I had a black armband on yesterday when I went to watch the U/15's play, and it was like everyone was just waiting to have a go at me, but I survived, and I know I'll be lining up again next year with hopes of glory rushing around my mind.

I've been waiting a long time for another premiership, so I suppose another year wont matter, but gee I hope they win one while the young bloke still wants to go to the footy with me, it just wouldn't be the same if he's grown up and with his mates instead of the old man.

Yeah I had a look at it breifly. I may offer some counselling later in that thread.

Ozbash and I are one up against the LU admins, so I feel I can offer some objectivity.

But you are right Preach, I dont actually hate Willow.

Pete the elite says Willow is sick of me.

If Willow feels that way, he should tell me and I will move out.

So long as I can keep the dog.

Well I went through it Preach, every post.

One can only pick up bits and pieces of the edited posts by the quotes and thats all I managed to read of anything especially"off colour."

There was an allegation of racism in there somewhere.

To be honest, Australia is not a country that readily lends itself to holding racist views.

I mean if you were seriously racist, you wouldnt be able to make it down to the shops without having some kind of mental breakdown.

Such misplaced hatred is as puzzling as it is hurtful.

I dont know anyone who doesnt have a friend of some sort from another culure or religion. I dont even know if such people exist.

Mate, I dont even believe in an English test for immigrants. There are far more important criterion to worry about.

So the thread in question Preach, its a puzzle ...and I think... I would prefer it to stay that way.

It's strange how these days everything goes along swimmingly until there is a difference of opinion, and when the normal forms of abuse are exhausted, the racial abuse, or an allegation of racial abuse, rears it's ugly head.
I have a bit of a laugh at it myself, as even though I'm 5th generation Aussie, I've been labelled a Mediterranean Descendant, chow, lebanese and koorie. All this because I have an olive complexion.
I lived for 5 years in Arnhem Land, in a mining community with a very large migrant workforce and played AFL for two "all black" sides from the local Aboriginal community.
I've seen it time and time again where an argument starts with a difference of opinion and degenerates into a slanging match of racial tirades implicating the actions of family members and friends until something is brought up that triggers the next phase which is a blue.
Racial abuse and false accusations of such are a waste of time and serve no purpose.

Is it true that the best time to start a blue is just before its your shout?

Not if you're drinking with the publican, he doesn't forget where the shout sits. lol.

Thanks for the spelling extension also Willow, probably saved an explanation to someone trying to be prim and proper.;-)

Ive been called a "Mediterranean Descendant" too and was once spat at on account of this allegation.

Trouble is I have blue eyes, mid-brown hair and a fairish (light aussie tan) complexion.

And my descendants are English, northern European and Irish!

You just cant win.

Things were different at high school:

Being a first generation Australian, I recall that had to play on the "Mediterranean Descendant" side in the luchtime league at school.

Me, Goerge, Louie, Max and Pasquale got stuck in to Bill, Pete,Bruce, Terry etc.

A guy from Scotland (another Bruce) who was paler than the whitest snow on everest ...he had to play with with us Mediterranean Descendants too.

An interesting way of selecting teams.

But nobody was ever left out.
