And you guys were worried about being the laughing stock of the NRl because your club is at an all-time low & will most probably get the wooden spoon :sarcasm: (like a lot of clubs have to go through at some point e.g. Sharks). Now you can really take that title...how many coaches in how many years? Oh well, good luck to you all, you don't know what you've got till its gone as the saying goes...and yet that hasn't been learnt over the past decade. Some good guys on here & some great humour but there's a hard core bunch that are just w****rs hogging the space - always amused me how the numbers viewing are so large compared to other pages but the same old handful rule! Keep up the positivity the ones who are the real warriors for the club and fans & get a life the negative, depressing, deathriders who have finally got their way! No doubting the passion for the Eels but fmd it's been hard finding something positive to justify becoming a follower of this club. Adios Amigos! my advice to a potential future Eels player will be "keep the hell away from there!" In case you are wondering why players won't come it isn't because SK is/was the coach (the players recruited so far have been impressed with the vision for the club) its because there's no core support for coaches, longterm plans, team spirit or basic human values - there's a fundamental f****d up culture that's being demonstrated once again.
Good luck muchachos!

I agree with a lot of what you say. But I suppose, ultimately, the board wanted to appear proactive, what with the election looming, and did what they thought would garner them votes. That, and a winning percentage of 20-odd percent was not high enough for some.

You've made no secret of the fact you are a Stephen Kearney fan and now you seem to taking his sacking very personally when you normally post quite logically. I'd say you must be related to him after all with that rant.

No. no relation seriously - never even met the guy. Just disappointed that he didn't get the chance to see through his plans & I'm questioning Parra's long term vision & strategies & values tbh. Was serious about a potential player I know & there's no way I could support a move to Parra any time in the future - there's something deeply wrong with a club that cannot get it's sh** together & it all fallen on the coaches to fix it over the past decade. I'm outa here for those reasons and on a last note...watch the guy resign with dignity and aplomb...I might not know him personally but even I can see he has character to boot. parra's loss imo

That's a much better response. I don't think it's fair you criticize others for wanting Kearney sacked. While you know your stuff and put your point across well, as you're a Storm supporter you're not emotionally invested in the club like the us Parramatta fans are. We've had to put up with an abysmally performing side over the past 2 years and patience is at a low. Kearney had his plan, but we've seen no progress from it in two years. That means either his plans aren't working, or he is incapable of carrying out the plan he has in mind.

I understand where you are all coming from but perserverance doesn't appear to be a strong suit in this club. Not saying SK would be the guy to get the Eels to a premiership but you can't honestly say the deck hasn't been stacked against him the last couple of years (kudos to him for taking it on), nor can you say he hasn't started down a pathway of change to address that. What i have seen over the past couple of years is an unwillingness to do the hard yards by the club, the board, and some of the fans which is necessary to turn things around. Imo there are coaches that are probably best called 'transitional' coaches who come in and effect change (as unpopular as that is), who may not appear to be the answer to the impatient, but whose influence changes the course of ingrained attitudes and culture. this is how I see SK & he's the man in my opinion for those reasons. Unfortunately it's those guys who get rubbished and undervalued - f*** I admire the guy for having the guts to give it a go! Oh well, what's done is done...all the best to SK - I honestly don't think Parra deserved him. Results aside I hope whoever comes next builds on what he's started - you know, the bits we all don't see.

Wow, Kearney as our coach in recent times with things stacked against him? He's had more internal support than most.

Thanks for the commiserations mate but I think we'll still end up ok. Kearney's got a good squad together for the next couple of years.

Hopefully the next coach doesn't do a Hagan on us.
