This sums everything up in a neat little package.

I don't particulary like T20 but when you see a shot like that in a game........ WOW. It was awesome.

and you'd be drooling like a geriatric bulldog if Dussey was capable of batting like that

no because 1. it isnt batting and is a disgrace to cricket and 2. considering dave hussey was mom in my eyes with bat and ball last night he did just fine

Arrogant? It's a trademark Warner shot in T20's, he played it throughout the champions league, and if anyone saw the champions league they would've seen Warner destroy the best T20 bowlers in the world. Besides I'd much rather a quick fire 20 or 30 anyday as opposed to the shit Bailey served up at the end

disgrace to the great game of cricket. the day he starts doing in it test matches is the day he should be dropped automatically

I'm for it. The rules regarding wides and LBW should be changed (effectively removing leg side rulings) but is it really that different to a reverse sweep? In a reverse sweep the player walks to the other side of the wicket and plays to the opposite side to what the field is set for. Good batters are those who find ways to counter the field placements and this method works a treat. I think this shot should be allowed in all forms of cricket but I can't see anyone risking losing their wicket in a test match for this shot.

Shall we outlaw the reverse sweep and the ramp shot aswell?

I'm just waiting for the reverse cover drive...

lol are u for real??? a legit reverse sweep all you do is change your grip on the bat or sometimes you dont even do that. you dont change your stance and become a left hander or right hander which is what the problem is with the switch hit. get a clue eh

The shot should be outlawed but won’t be. A bolwer can’t run in a switch hands at the last second so why should a batter.

If the bowler picks it up early enough they should send it wide of off stump (leg stump after the switch) and the umpire would have no right to call it a wide IMO.

exactly gives the batsman a unfair advantage as they can compleltey change the field placings ec and the bowler has no chance to react to it

If you're good enough to be able to play that shot successfully, as David Warner is, then go for your life. In any form of the game. If it was so simple, and likely to become a widespread problem, then there would be a hell of alot more batsmen playing that shot. They aren't.

Warner and Pietersen have done it in recent times, can you think of anybody else? Hardly worth changing the laws of cricket. IMO it just makes them even more potent weapons - good luck to them.

The setting fields argument doesn't really count either, given the only times I've seen Warner play that shot (here and in the Champions League for NSW) he has cleared the boundary. Opposing captains should be well aware by now that Warner is capable of playing the shot, and consider their field placings accordingly.

My problem here is Warner didn't play a reverse, he completely changed his stance.

If Brett Lee walks to the top of his mark and then bowls left-armed without telling the umpire, who then tells the batsman it's coming, it's a no-ball.

If a batsman switching from left to right is ok if he's 'good enough', who shouldn't a bowler be able to master both left and right arm bowling and switch if he's also 'good enough'.

The bias in T20 (and until this home summer, all cricket really) towards batsmen is beyond ridiculous.

Right so by your logic it is fair for a batsmen to completely change his stance and not give the bowler or fielding team an opportunity to change their field just because he usually hits it for 6. :?
The fielding side shouldn't have to consider it a dangerous shot because it shouldn't be allowed, it is a form of cheating, just like players calling for a runner when they didn't need one, thankfully runners have now been outlawed.

I would much rather go and watch a test match at one of the greatest cricket grounds in the world than watch a 20/20 game at a Rugby and AFL stadium. If this shot is ever played in test cricket there will be uproar from the cricket purists saying that it shouldn't be allowed and it shouldn't as it is a form of cheating.
