Do you have a source for your 80% baby boomers claim?

Here's an article Bourbon Bec wrote

Extract

...As a result, the AFL is in crisis, facing issues that threaten the game's livelihood.

Dwindling crowds and ratings are the start. The game's chiefs have refused to budge on its format for more than a century. An ageing demographic must be worrying for the game and sponsors so used to seeing crowds grow every year that they are too complacent for their own good.

Heaven forbid, but perhaps it might be time to look at how long an AFL game actually lasts. Four quarters that often stretch to over half an hour each may not be attractive to many young people who have grown used to instant gratification and quick fixes...

& another:

...A senior sports marketing expert, whose research is used by every major sport in Australia, says her private figures reveal league is the fastest growing of any football code in every demographic.

It is the only sport that is attracting a new, young audience to its ranks. AFL has some serious concerns, unable to attract the same numbers of new fans under 20.
Monday night's Fox Sports match between Manly and St George was the biggest rating football game on pay-TV this year...

By 2015 the nrl will blow afl figures off the park, even not including rep/soo games. Here's why:
Extra game per round live on fta +24million
2 new teams, brisbane2 increasing the q'land audience and Perth bringing in a new audience +6 million
All fta games live nationally adding significant increases in 3 capital cities+12million
Massive marketing of the game funded with our new wealth ?million

After expansion we could be seeing 40million+ viewers added to our capital city annual figures!

200 million viewers a season by 2018 are the numbers circulating around 10 for the full package.

This is the advantage 10 has over 9 and hence why even if 9 gets all the rights, it's going to be 4-5 games.

I love how these merkins are squirming.

Barry Cassidy a couple of weeks ago "On what basis Roy?"

You seem a smart guy with your bryll cremed hair and Melbourne shirt Barry. If you looked up an encyclopedia, you'd see that 60% of the population of the country (The country outside of Victoria and the back waters I mean) live outside of said areas and most of them would prefer the Rugby codes to AFL.

Squirm you merkins.

80% of Baby boomers love watching scrotum chewing

Time for a Venn diagram comparing that to the AFL% percentage -

Huh? The only sports show with no agenda at all (it's on the ABC FFS where they don't even show any live sport) is accused of bias towards AFL.

This forum is truly geniused.

You obviously don't watch it enough.

Roy and Caro both on this morning. Watch and see how Roy is treated.

That woman and Roy are as bad each other. Neither should be on (and they rarely have them on for that matter). Offsiders should be a show where people like sport in general and that's what it normally is.

They were obviously NOT happy with Roy when he called AFL "sanctimonious" nor when he started talking about the potential TV rights bonanza.

Gerard tried to put Roy in his place by brushing him off during the video technology talk.

"your code makes mistakes all the time with its video technology"

Butch Cassidy, Weasley and Medusa all drink the AFL kool-aid.

It's great when Roy's on. Cat amongst the pigeons. Every other week it's the "AFL Propaganda Variety Half-Hour"

Ron reality check.Cassidy is an AFL fan and it shows,Caro Wilson is one even more moronic and it shows and Whately is an AFL commentator.Thats 3 out of the usual 4 or 5.
The show is based in Melbourne, and the bias sticks out like the b*lls of a Brahman bull.
Cassidy almost choked when Masters gave him the expected Tv deal last time. And today Caro (the face) Wilson stated the High court appeal by Optus could hurt the NRL.Roy responded it(the rights of the codes) will be introduced into legislation in parliament. She clammed up.

See there's two options there. Either

a) She knew that the copyright law has been rewritten yet still said the moronic statement just to make the NRL look bad

b) She didn't know that the copyright law has been rewritten - which makes her a poor sports journalist

Doc do you happen to know the guy serving it up to the Cattery on the Rah re NRL TV rights?.;-) I have an inkling.

I do find some of his more idiotic statements quite amusing.

Apparently he was the only person ANYWHERE to think that the Optus decision would be overturned on appeal -

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/spo...broadcast-ruling/story-e6frg7mf-1226261249384

THE Federal Court ruling allowing Optus to broadcast sports events to mobile-devices customers should be overturned on appeal, according to a leading barrister. "My personal view is that the judge got it wrong," said Melbourne barrister Paul Ehrlich yesterday

I seem to recall saying myself that it would be overturned on appeal and/or the copyright law will be changed.

Both have happened - the law is just waiting final approval.

For that AFL nutter to think he was the only person to think that way and to keep babbling on about it just shows the level of delusion involved. I don't normally engage in such debates with those AFL keyboard heroes but when they make such idiotic statements I just have the urge to bitchslap them.

I have worked for syndicated papers. Guys like Cattery wouldn't even get a job compiling the daily jumble.
