How bad is that for the sharks.....

And that was a sunday arvo game too.... Their only Friday game coming up is against, surprise surprise, the Broncos....

Do they actually rate that low?

No. But if a Sydney team Nine loves is doing well you'll see them more often.

Sadly even if they aren't you'll see them more often (the Tigers). They've strung a few together now but at the beginning of the year....

Same with the Saints and Knights. Playing shit football but they get a stack of games. I feel like I've entered this:

Hopefully Channel 7, 10 and the NRL are monitoring this thread (and the others) very closely.

Even with channel 9 picking the games they are getting shitty figures in Sydney on Friday nights

Brisbane figures are nearly topping the Sydney figures of mid 300k

Eels , Dogs , tigers. Need to fire for good fri night figures in sydney

Question: How did First & last rights for 9 & fox come into fruition? Did we sell that agreement as a part of a previous deal? Or was it a term of the original Super Leage-ARL merger?

so.. will the resignation of Gallop have any effects?

It has to. Let alone his history as a News lackey, his business skills are questionable. The only way is forward now considering the IC in place, new TV deal coming up and now a new CEO. It would take a f**k up of GWS proportions to go backwards from here.

Gallop exit won't harm broadcast negotiations

BROADCASTERS said yesterday they did not expect David Gallop's sudden exit from rugby league to derail negotiations for a new TV rights deal.
A source close to incumbent rights broadcaster Nine Network rejected speculation that tensions over the negotiations and a perception Gallop was too close to Nine and its chief executive David Gyngell was a factor in the ARL Commission's decision to sever ties with the long-time NRL boss.
"It has nothing to do with Nine and it is fair to say that Gallop and Gyngell have not been overly close," the source said.
Gallop told reporters he remained upbeat about the TV rights negotiations. "The TV deal should be a good one," he said. However, sources close to the commission said the timing of Gallop's departure was closely tied to the ongoing negotiations.
"We are about to enter a very sensitive stage and we all agreed it would not be right if someone who was not going to be in his position in three of four months' time was a part of those discussions," the source said.
"We are in a very strong position in the media negotiations and have created some competitive tension."
The source noted that interim chief executive Shane Mattiske was well placed to drive the right final outcome.
"Shane understands it much better than David," he said.
As director of strategy and special projects, Mattiske has been at the centre of the negotiations.

it says what it's for in the article

Its says it will be used for "flexibility to refinance". Now you could take that to mean that they will simply use the money to lower their borrowings, or perhaps that they will put that money to work buying programming which will increase revenue and make refinancing the facility in 2013 cheaper because the network would have beter ratings, more revenue and hence less or a risk in the eyes of any financier.

3 How does it affect the TV deal?

If free-to-air suitors Seven West Media and Ten Network were not already right in the mix for a slice of the new broadcast deal, they are now. While the ARLC has appointed the firm Greenhill Caliburn to lead the negotiations on its behalf, Gallop's departure leaves a clean slate in terms of the game and its relationships with networks. Nine and Fox Sports will have to fight hard to retain their rights. The result could be an even more lucrative deal over the $1 billion mark.
