Ten News is mainly a countdown to Origin today, rather refreshing.

Crowd figures are irrelevant in the TV context. Atmosphere only.

Attendances can hurt the image of the game. Obviously anyone who loves the game doesnt give a shit, but for expansion its important to present a game on TV that looks important and makes you want to be there.

And Origin is all about doing exactly that.

Will be interesting to see what the ratings for tonight's Origin will be. If the decider at Suncorp is a close one (unlikely the blowout that happened in the first 30 mins of last year's decider), I think we could get at least 2.8 million across the 5 metros and will easily break 4 million nationwide. Nevertheless, it will give the AFL GF a run for its money

From memory last year game 3 was the highest rating followed by game 1. Game 2 was the lowest rating of the 3.

Just following a pattern where maybe the novelty wears off from game 1 a tad but then the decider gets everyone pumped again....

Anyway its not down too much on game 1, 40k or something.... regionals may offset that...
