Oh dear...looks like B-dos feels threatened that his title as 'biggest blind agenda pusher' in this forum is going to be officially taken from him by Coastbloke. I would've at least expected you to try and use some quotes from the TSG press release rather than sound like a Herald brainwashed drone by using the tried and true "hurry up stop protecting your jobs/stop dragging your feet, Mr Burro/Tew"...rinse and repeat...

lol

yeah i have an agenda serc. i spelled it out quite clearly above

ive commented on the tinkler statement serc.. at present its a tit for tat situation and all id like to see is an agreement in place by tonight

but hey - dont let that stop you misrepresenting my post

oh and if my failure to see everything as a conspiricy theory run by the herald and against the knights doesnt fit the 'agenda' roound here i make no apologies

Anyway, speaking of the TSG press release here is something I noticed in it:

Would I be right in saying that someone wants to make some moves in the player market (before they own the club) and is a bit grumpy that they don't have full details of our salary cap and the exact values that each player is marked down for?

what?

this sort of thing happens all the time in sports. any buyer wants to ensure crazy decisions arent made during without their input/consent while the sale is proceeding

Oh and also speaking of the Herald...again this is not the world's greatest measurer of public opinion, but I noticed the balance of comments for/against Tinkler on Saturday's article were also significantly changed from recent months, perhaps the tide is changing in the last few days, and people are starting to tire of Tinkler using the media to try and bully his way through things?

To be honest, I am disliking the guy and his crew more by the day...which surely would not be what he would be wanting to do with this vote coming up. If he keeps this up, even if our admin make sure the right things are in the detail, he runs the risk of the vote failing because of having pissed off all the members!

lol

well given the last big prediction of his "bully tactics" pissing everyone off failed miserably,. im pretty conmfortable 99% of the public and supporters want tinkler in charge asap.;

B-dos - still doing your sums on how a $10 Million guarantee on a current income stream of $12 Million makes us better off or just ignorning the question because it doesn't suit your agenda?

;-)

you wrongly assume a 10 million guarantee equals a maximum amount of investment alex

not to mention the quite clear additional benefits the professional management provides.

not to mention tinklers ability to use his pulling power to sure up third party deals for players

hey alex, how much of the current 12 million income (lets ignore the debt for a momnet) is our astute board "guaranteeing" for us for the next decade?

none?

A board can not make a decision on the basis of assumptions. It can not make decisions on the basis of what might happen if they make a decision. They have to make a decision on the basis of what the offer is and what guarantees are in place.

Tinkler is setting himself a minimum commitment which - according to the board - equals $2 Million less than what we are already receiving. In all good faith, and with the risk of being personally liable for the future of the club and having the potential of being sued by the current owners of the club (the members) if it all went wrong because of the decision you are making, could you recommend we accept a deal where the new owner commits to a 2 year term instead of 10 and guarantees $2 Million less than what we already receive?

You are a liar if you say yes.

Our astute board achieves $12 Million in revenue without any guarantees.

Any way...according to NBN on Twitter he's withdrawn the bid. All appears to be history now...

Nathan Tinkler withdraws Knights offer

21 Feb, 2011 11:59 AM
SPORTING and mining magnate Nathan Tinkler has withdrawn his $100 million takeover bid for the Newcastle Knights and said he would have no further dealings with the NRL club under their current management.
Tinkler and the Tinkler Sports Group management team were due to meet at 2pm today with Knights chief executive Steve Burraston and chairman Rob Tew to resolve their differences but a furious and frustrated Tinkler has told the Newcastle Herald that the meeting has been cancelled and his offer withdrawn.
Fed up with what he perceived to be procrastination by Knights management since they rejected his initial $10 million proposal three months ago, which he upgraded on January 17 to up to $100 million for the next 10 years, Tinkler said he had done all he can but had had enough.
Burraston and Tew have called a 2.30pm media conference today.

Appears Tinky has had a bit of a sook and withdrawn his offer when it has actually been questioned...

I'm going to blame the board for the incompetence, and Tinkler for his impatience, I'm with Baron on this, I'm hugely disappointed by all this.

It seems to me like the Knights board simply wanted some clarification and instead of sitting at the table Tinkler spat the dummy, took his bat and ball and went home.

How could the board approve an offer which differed so much from what he went to the media with and promised the members?

So what is the incompetence? Asking questions that someone does not want to answer?

based on limited information of course, it does seem like this at the moment

I'm suspecting that Tew and Burro will tender their resignation and Tinkler will negotiate with another board. If they do that it says a lot of their integrity and how much they care about the Knights future.

i'm also expecting this, and if it doesn't happen, there is going to be a power struggle.

i don't see how anyone could claim board incompetance when they were asked to shovel through a deceptive proposal that didn't match the one that was being spruiked in the papers. have a look at what you're all saying. all our administration did was ask him to stick to his word, and when he was asked to do so he had a complete dummy spit.

i love grinding my axe on our admin, it's one of my favourite pass-times and they usually make it pretty easy. this is certianly not one of those cases.

yes, anyone with a brain that looks at this rationally for a split second should be able to read between the lines here.

i think some posters are letting emotion get in the way. others are void of grey matter between their ears. i would be immensely surprised if this is where it ends. Tinkler isn't just going to have a change of heart and not want the club overnight. he will find other, less resistive avenues... for better or worse.
