I think he can get something going on with Hayne.

Hayne's little inside pass to him looked good. If he has the blistering speed that everyone has talked about, he could be Billy the Kid mark II.

If my memory serves me right we got him on a two year deal, so no immediate worries about the vultures circling around him.

outstanding defence from the young bloke, handled the pace well.
rested for most of the 2nd half most likely due to slight concussion thanks the Steve the Cat Matai.
He should get minimum 2 weeks for that.

If we let him go after 1 year i will be devastated. That will very short sighted by a recruitment staff. I cant see mortimer being a long term solution. The guy should be getting better with his passing ability but he seems to be not sure when to pass. He is inlove with his left foot step. I think he is actually a hooker.

Humble for me seems like a real natural half. Please please let it not be true

I didn't think Mortz should've tried that pass to Burt in which Burty knocked on.

I have said that I would play Mortz at 14. Come on as hooker and just support.

His kicking game was not that great either.

I would give Humble another go and sadly drop MK.

1. Hayne
6. Humble
7. KK
9. Robbo - love his defense in the middle of the park.

14. Mortz

Since Hayne is starting to ball play again, Humble can be running off him.

I actually thought he did better, not that he did anything too special but Morts was very quiet tonight.

you may want to watch the game again and see who was the first to to meet the manly back three after every kick..he was very good defensively.

Agreed but I don't think pulling a rabbit out of a hat was Humble's MO. Anderson clearly told Hayne during the week to step up and take 5th tackle responsibilities. He was the dominant playmaker in Manly's 20 and kicked for over 500m, exactly what we needed of him. :thumn

Based on what we see of young Tom over the next few weeks, he might make a very, very good case for the No. 14 jersey.

i thought both morts and humble played enthusiastically from the get go and that helped set our attitude imo. morts i thought was tough, he is being targeted by the frwards a bit and is been doing alot of defending. as why hayne and kk r seen as main play kickers when kk is playing.

id say next week we will see a backline like....
1. Humble
2. Burt
3. Reddy
4. Inu
5. Grothe
6. KK
7. Morts

Humble was also very good defensively.
And wasn't it Morts that ran up too quick to leave a gap for the Lyon try?

When we had the ball Humble seemed more involved than Morts and it was his 1st game. Morts is the so called up and coming superstar that we've thrown money at to keep, he needs to take more control. especially considering his usual halves partner was out and replaced with a debutant.

tbh, I don't think one played better than the other, and I think T had more to do with Lyon's try than anything else.

OK, I don't want to argue about it anyway, and T has a tendency to rush up too often this year.

I don't want to be bagging anyone after a game in which they all played ok to get a great team win. I didn't think Morts had a shocker at all, I just thought Humble played well enough to pip him.;-)
