Tried to get my mates up for a USA contiki, nope. Tried to get my mates up for Norway, nope. Tried to get my mates up for a week or 2 short trip to NZ and the Milford Track - nope. FFS you get 4 weeks paid holidays a year - use the damn things!
So now it's me and one mate planning for a 2 week trip to USA while the rest of my mates stay home and complain about being bored.

I learned LONG ago that decide what you're doing, where you're going and invite those along . Those that want to join you will. Most will find excuses to bail. Let them. They'll only end up being funsucks on the trip itself. It can be more expensive going solo, but at least you're going whereas the major of your mates aren't.

Holy f**king shit. I'm in love with the Philippines.

Call it, folks. I've decided where I'd like to live and what nationality just trumped American as my favourite.

Bring on October.

So which was it Mis?

The abbundance of guns in public carried by our Law Enforcement Agencies?

Our shopping bargains?

Gunpla and Anime merch available at all retail store?

Phony DVDs at our cheap markets?

Our Women?

Our food?

Our booze?

Our lifestyle which is straddling the line between third world and devoleped?

Details, man, details.

At least tell me you liked our national dessert Halo-Halo.

Those highlighted above + the natural beauty, the fact I could live there cheaply, the generally friendly demeanour of people, the open acceptance of homosexual and transgendered people, and the scuba diving opportunities.

I didn't try Halo Halo, I'm afraid to say. I did eat quite a bit of adobo though.

Oh man, if I ever get to meet you firkers in a social setting like a firkers picnic, remind me to bring an ice shaver machine, a ton of ice (of the legal variety ;-) ) and sweet toppings like garbanzos beans and jack fruit. You missed out. :(

Did you try the lechon at least?

I tried Lechon when I was there. Wasn't bad. Was a bit wary of what my stomach would do afterwards but seemed fine.

Longanisa is the sweet sausage, great breakfast food.

Lechon is the filo style roast pig.

I'm ashamed to say I did not try lechon.

I did have longanisa over breakfast with the Pinay lass I managed to woo, but it wasn't for me.

Anybody got any London and/or Edinburgh and/or Derby tips?

I've managed to get four free nights in London and Edinburgh, as well as two nights with friends in Derby. Pretty rapt about that :)

We're talking about the UK now, HH!

But yes, Angeles City sounds very good. I never did make it. Had my brothers in tow and didn't want word getting back to Mum

Obviously Edinburgh castle and just walking the Royle Mile. Great pubs and great people but the beer will kill your budget after Asia Mis

I'm dreading the drain on my budget that beer will be. It'll make me homesick for Australia.
