Will do. There's some nice ones in Texas apparently. ... there'd certainly be some in Chicago too!

Flights for US are set. Just need to confirm booking once my visa is in. Spending a few days in LA before jetting off to Montana for my studies. Can hardly wait.

Anybody ever used Webjet? f**k me, they're geniused. I have to scan my passport and the front of my credit card just to confirm the booking.

I swear, if they weren't paying for my Edinburgh accommodation, I'd tell them to shove it.

I've used about a dozen sites to book hotels around the world. This is the first time that I've encountered this 'precaution'.

It's particularly frustrating given they're covering $250 of the cost, leaving me just $38 to put on my credit card.

Can't work out why Qantas are going bust....

Flying SYD-SIN earlier in the year with Qantas I had a whole row to myself, as did many passengers. Just phenomenal.

I would say they're going bust because they're far more expensive tbh...I'm flying to Singapore later in the year and QANTAS were the most expensive option. Ended up paying a few hundred.less to go with Singapore Airlines who are better anyway

For my SYD - LAX flight. QANTAS is the second cheapest. That's on an A380 BEFORE I use my FF to get a further discount/upgrade.

Another mate of mine has a similar arrangement with his qantas mate. he flew to London business class for something ridiculous like $450.

Looks like I will be heading to Singapore, Hong Kong and a few places around Vietnam around Christmas time.

Anyone like to share their experiences of these places? What they liked, highlights, what to look out for etc.

Probably all of the above. Shopping (the wife is coming) and all the usual touristy stuff. Obviously the main attractions but maybe there are some hidden gems that people don't know about?

Partying? Maybe just a little.

For the Mrs Temple Street night markets are a must & Kowloon in general has everything to keep most shoppers happy. The subway system in Hong Kong is fantastic so getting around is easy. Get yourselves an Octopus card at the airport, you use it to pay for public transport except taxi's. Its amazing how far 100 HKD will take you. If you are staying on Hong Kong Island then the ferry to Kowloon across the harbour is pretty cool especially at night.

If you are feeling a bit adventurous & want to duck over to China for a bit of shopping you can get the train to Lo Wu/Luohu border crossing & go to Shenzen. If you have an Aussie or NZ passport you can get a 5 day visa at the border for about 170.00 RMB. ($30.00 AU) The train takes about 45 mins from Kowloon (Tsim Sha Tsui station) to the border at Lo Wu. You get off the train & do the border crossing. If you decide to do it during the week is best. It can get a bit hectic on the weekend. It is worth doing & the change in things from HK to China is an eye opener.

Partying is good & there are bars everywhere. I liked the area on HK island near all the Ferrari & Lambo dealers. It seemed to be a bit of an expat area & was pretty wild. Cant remember the name of any of the places though.

Dont be afraid to explore either, some of the best stuff I have found in HK & more so China is ducking down alleyways off the main shopping strips, it is amazing what you can find. Dodgy little alleys can open up into a whole new world.
