This. It was beyond ridiculous.

I was genuinely relieved when the thing she was lifting proved to be a sign rather than a trapdoor.

Then I was like "Oh, flash food. That would be a tragic way for them to die".

So to see her then get eaten by a clay zombie was f**king geniused.

I don't know that the Governor was thinking straight when he ordered the charge. He'd just cut a guy's head off and been shot.
Yeah, my issue was more with the way everyone else in his crew seemed to accept it.

In the comic the Governor is still in Woodbury and the people had been marching behind him for a long time and for him to one day show up with an eye missing and an arm cut off it was more than enough reason to follow him into war.

What evidence did he give that these people in the prison were bad people? Besides a story about his eye and Woodbury? It's impossible to believe that he had earned the trust of the random campers he was with.

Anyway, I'm just glad this arc is over and look forward to what they can do with the second best (Y-the last man will always be number 1) graphic novel ever.

There's a pretty big suspension of disbelief required to accept that a group of seemingly non-violent people would storm a prison with a tank and automatic weapons on the advice of a one-eyed guy who just rocked up. But I spose it is a show about zombies...

Flow on effect from the end of season 3. He should never have murdered all his people and destroyed Woodbury. Should have been a case of him bringing in new people to Woodbury to make it strong enough to storm the prison.

My biggest issue, and I'm starting to dislike the mid season finales because of it, is the pacing throughout the season and then the way they try to cram too much into the final episode.

As it stands we had 5 episodes of sickness, 2 episodes of Governor flashback, 1 episode of prison siege. That's the reason it feels so off for a lot of people, things move so slowly then they suddenly escalate and conclude in the space of an episode.

Would have preferred to see 3 episodes of sickness, 2 episodes of Governor flashback, leaving 3 episodes to really build properly into the finale with the capture of Michone/Herschel followed by taking Herschel and a small group to the prison to execute him in front of Rick (giving us room to actually see some aftermath of it). While that's happening, Michone could escape, an event that leads to Megan being bit which the Governor then uses to galvanise his people, still leaving an episode largely dedicated for the prison siege.

Ah well, was not to be, and now the group are on the road again.

Or, this should have been the finale, we don't need two episodes of boring Governor crap, and we could have been through the sickness (which I enjoyed) and building towards something new earlier.

Or better yet have them overlap. Would have been quite tense for Rick's group having the Governor with Herschel at knife point, knowing that a full scale attack would leave them with little chance seeing as they had so many sick (and others out looking for medicine).

That's what bothers me imo. 5 eps of sickness focus, 2 eps of Governor focus and then a finale packed with everything that should have happened over 2-3 episodes. Makes it feel very disjointed, then you have to stop and remind yourself that it's only the middle of the season. It seems like they can only focus on one threat at a time when there's always more.

I did have to laugh at Daryl using a Zombie as a shield.

I'm only a bit into Book 2 of the Comics, so glad I'm not up to the Prison part of that, as I hear more deaths are in the book than show, and it ruined it for some people who were expecting more.

The action scenes have always been pretty geniused so I didn't find it that disappointing.

Just glad there was some action after the two most boring episodes of the whole series.

I never expect this show to be anything like the comics. They changed so much from the get go its almost like they are completely unrelated

Long live Hershel.

And the Governor ruined the fence with the tank in the comics. Same with the people blindly following a maniac murderer's word. In fact the Governor in the show is quite a bit less insane than the comic Governor.

Then I was like "Oh, flash food. That would be a tragic way for them to die"

Now that would be ridiculous. A flash flood suddenly appears on a sunny day with no sign of rain anywhere.

Of course he did, because he didn't need the prison.

lol, if you actually read the comics you'd know he went there to take the prison, same as this episode. He broke the fence because he was losing. He was screaming at his people 'this can still work, we can make this work!' when Lilly shot him.

Lol. Thanks for filling me on something I read in Issue 48 when it was released. Not this year like yourself..

He went there to take the prison for different reasons. He wasn't trying to find a place for his daughter or her kind of replacement. He was going with revenge purely on his mind and was manipulating people to join his cause.

Like I said he didn't need to prison so his thought process was different, he was trying to convince his crew that they could rebuild the fences later if need be, but it was only so he could get revenge. His crew wanted the prison but it wasn't the governor's one and only option like it was in the tv version of events.

He certainly didn't sell it as their last shot to the guys before they left. He wanted it but it wasn't an honest need. Which is why he said "we can clear the fences later, we can rebuild these fences" before lilly shot him and before he said "we can make this work".

Joker's Wild already addressed this. Flash foods can happen on clear days easily when the storm is upriver.

Of course he did, because he didn't need the prison.

I felt they did a good job of doing away with the 'he needs the prison' thought in the show. He was clearly just out to kill Rick and Michonne, but tricked people into thinking they needed the prison to be safe.

He made it clear he didn't give a shit about his new girlfriend and the girl when he so coolly disposed of the girl during the attack.

Uh, I read it like 3 years ago, good work making assumptions though. Thanks for admitting he did want the prison.

It was pretty clear in the show that Governor just wanted to kill them. If he really wanted the prison he would have just lived there in different cell blocks like Rick suggested.

Everything you said about the Governor's mindset in the comics could be applied to the show.
