What is this all about?
Rose and Peaches is here to show that the dream of universal love can be really cool!
It's about using art to make a difference, in this world of wars, hunger and greed.
In a time where parents have no time for their children, where friends have no time to listen to friends, where everyone is rushing and feeling deeply lonely, I think it's important that people be reminded on a daily basis that love, towards ourselves and others, is an essential part of human existence. In these modern days we have been programmed to be constantly outside of ourselves, but when we realize that everything starts in the mind, and that we choose at any given moment what kind of thoughts we have, life becomes easier, because we can control at all times in what way reality will affect us. And in most cases we will change our reality as well! I wanted to offer you a place where you can get inspired, maybe start the day with a special thought you can reflect upon... A place where you will find something for your soul and for your body.
Many more features will be added as time allows. Why the Buddha? Are you a buddhist?
Not in the religious sense. But I embrace the principles of buddhist philosophy. I chose the Buddha as a mere symbol of universal values.
The Buddha is an invitation to go inside oneself and take responsibility for our own reality. It's about developing love and compassion. I just wanted to create some art using this concept. Where do the messages come from?
From the Universe... Hey, the site looks cool! What software do you use?
I use Photoshop 5.0 for the Buddha graphics and Flash 4 for the animated backgrounds. Can I use your graphics on my site?
I'm sorry, but all my artwork is protected by U.S. copyright laws and it can't be used, copied, sold or distributed in any way. If you want to commission me to do some custom artwork for you, feel free to contact me.

"I understood that there is war and other disasters which is quite hard to measure... so to overcome that I put the children to couples rate at 2.05 to compensate that - which is a very low figure."
Which formula or calculation did you use to reach this conclusion? - Willow

a = current population
b= no. of couples
2.05 = children per couple (2 people)
x = new population

Formula

x = ((b X 2.05) + a) - a

ex...

...if

population is 1,000.... then the number of couples is 500

So...

x = ((500 X 2.05)+ 1,000) - 1,000

x =(1,025+ 1,000) - 1,000

x = 2,025 - 1,000

x = 1,025

Repeat formula to find out the population for the next 50 yrs.

x = ((512.5 X 2.05)+ 1,025) - 1,025

x= (1,050.6 + 1,025) - 1,025

x= 2,075.6 - 1,025

x= 1,050.6

etc... etc...

I'm merely showing that you havent taken the other view into calculation.
Are saying that Adam was born as a man and Eve came from his rib? - Willow

Actually I have taken the other view into calculation... but the problem is... it doesn't add up :eek:

I have been reading up on evolution the last few weeks and there are some major flaws in it... the fact that it is not a proven fact is the obvious part. But yet many scientists around the world and science textbooks continue toportray that evolution is a fact even though there is no evidence - quite surprising considering science prides itself on facts and evidence.

Here is a famous example that is usedto explain evolution using peppered moths in England.

Back in 1850, the trees where the peppered moths lived were mostly white because of the white lichen that grew on them. The birds found the black peppered moths on the white trees to be easy prey and ate them, so 98% of the peppered moths in the area were white. Later industrialization and pollution killed the lichen, revealing the trees' black bark. The birds now found the white peppered moths easy prey and ate them instead, so 98% of the peppered moths were black by 1950. The trouble is that this demonstrates selection but certainly not evolution, as both light and dark moths existed before and after industrialization and no new information was created in the DNA. Evolution, as an explanation for new species or life itself, must mean that new and unique information is added to the DNA to create new features and functions: eyes for sight, thumbs for grasp, wings for flight. Have you ever observed a hint of even the simplest of new features to come about by natural processes?

I wonder Willow... you say I haven't taken the other view into thought, does that mean you have taken the other view in yourself? If so, please... I like to hear your criticism. Tell me why it is not possible for a God or a being of supreme intelligence to create the universe and all living things?

The calculation you haveproduced still doesnt give a proper representation... its just a guess.

"I have been reading up on evolution the last few weeks and there are some major flaws in it... "
There are flaws in every theory. There are flaws in the bible. The only difference is that creationists see their opinion as being fact while evolutionistssee theirs as a theory.

Good to see you've been reading up on Evolution though mate...:)
Even if it has only been for the last few weeks. I've been subjected to the church all my life.

"...a famous example that is usedto explain evolution using peppered moths in England"
Not sure why you pulled out one single example of moths being eaten. It is a fairly well known example of environment dictating reactions. Its not really relevant but I should add that there have also been a number of different versions of this tale.

"..many scientists around the world and science textbooks continue toportray that evolution is a fact even though there is no evidence - quite surprising considering science prides itself on facts and evidence."
You're wrong about that and I will repeat what I have said a dozen times before.
Evolution is a theory and is accepted as such. Your view that there is no evidence flies in the face of fossilised records, ice drilling, Labratory re-creations etc.
This evidence creates questions and it is the view that questions are there to be approached...not shunned just because they may give us a scary answer. Usually, an answer creates another question and so on.
Furthermore, science does not solely pride itself on facts... to reach a conclusion or fact is only part of science. Also, you've slipped up a bit there... facts and evidence two different things.

Anyway, I've saidall this before.

"I wonder Willow... you say I haven't taken the other view into thought, does that mean you have taken the other view in yourself?"
Offcourse I have. I wasa God-fearingCatholic throughout my formative years....lol... there's no point it repeating it over and over just because you got up in the ad breaks. ;)

lol..more gas... and beforethat I don't know because it was bit before my time and presumably before your time as well.

Seriously though mate. I can guesswhere you're goingalready and to be honest, I can't be bothered. I've been at the coal face for a good part of the 700+ posts and in that time I've tackled theology, biology, ecology, zoology and paleontology (to name but a few 'ologies')...so I'm growing a little weary of this thread.

If you want to read every post you'll see the debate in all its glory. I'm not copping out, this thread is proof enough that I enjoy a good debate. But I'm just tired of seeing this same questions continually coming up... its beengoing around in circles for almost a month. Hope you understand.
