That second link is interesting El... I think the writer is pretty close to much of the debate here:
eg:

He also questions the notion of 'perfection' by saying that God is perfect and he created humans in his own image and gave humans free will. But humans disobeyed God and became sinners... so how is he perfect?

According to christians, god even created Atheists. 1 + 1 = 3... it doesn't add up.

Kiwi, I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I wasn't balming or saying priests targetted gay kids, I was saying the priests themselves who were gay were oftenpushed into the priesthood by their parentsto hide their sexuality but the temptation proved too great. I am in no way saying abused children were to blame.

I always thought Priests molesting children wasa product of sexual repression.
If Priests were allowed to marry and have relationships, perhaps there would be less of a problem.

fair point. But there no hiding the fact that some of the most barbaric and inhunain things have been done in the name of god by christians. I'm not saying that you are guilty by asscociation.

Sorry mate, havent been on so havent had a chance to qualify. Once again, ive got my english a bit muddled. The jist of it was that i was suggesting toyou that trying to reason with Oneeye is pointless, as i believe its a forum member taking the piss. The rest of the post was getting stuck into 'oneye'

El- re your other post. Perfection wouldn't exist without imperfections. Same as good wouldn't exist without bad. How could you be good if there is nothing 'bad' to be compared against? Same thing, u need imperfection in order to create perfection

Couldn't agree with you more mate. Its an outdated concept and priests should be able to lead a normal life like everyone else.

And back to El - Why does God need to show himself? I dont see what it would achieve. Its an issue of faith, do you need to see something to believe it?

Kiwi, i think you will find that most are like that. I dont force my beliefs down anyones throat. Just like everything else though, there are christians who take the faith perhaps a little to the extreme and try to push what they believe is right onto everyone else. Id be more than happy to teach people about christianity, but im not going to force it down someone who doesnt want to listen
