no i wont be there, but i wanted to expose the bullshit. a strategy to encourage people to sign up to memberships? ohhhhhh well isnt that a nice way to put it. the truth is its a load of crap to sucker people into getting a 1 game $65 "membership" when it would only cost around $20 to get a ticket. i KNOW there will be thousands of General Admission tickets for non-members but the way humphreys is talking is its possible there wont be, when he KNOWS there will be thousands of tickets left for non-members

"Any chance to lay the toe into Humphreys and WT though hey?"
i say it how it is."

you along with some other tigers supporters are nothing but camp concord's bitches and puppets.

OPEN YOUR EYES DICKHEAD

The WT has said there will be GA admission available before the game.

My eyes are open, perhaps you need to remove the wool from over yours. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story though you jaded imbecile.

Sorry Gumbo Pete this is a sub forum for the Wests Tigers.

As the Gods have smiled on us and you are no longer a fan this isn't the place for you. Back to the sheltered workshop you go talking about conspiracy theories on everything from alien abduction to the evil empire of Humphries.

Meanwhile the rest of us will carry on supporting the team that means something to us

But most importantly, opposition team members should not be locked out or forced into buying a membership for another team.

But they will not be. They were never going to be.

I agree with your point that away clubs should be allocated a small allotment of tickets, just like they do in European football. But that is something the NRL needs to enforce on all clubs.

The reality is that we are many years away from talking about the Tigers having enough season ticket holders to fill an 18,000 seat stadium.

As Damian irvine was quoted in the paper this morning if you lock people out of some games or simply make it difficult or too expensive, you can't just expect those people to come back when there is capacity. That is why this decision is wrong. It is short term financial gain but long term disenchantment.

The NRL is lucky (or unlucky in some ways) that we have a sport where everyone can have access to what ever game they want, even the grand final. This doesn't happen in other sports and even in the AFL many members miss out on GF tickets.

I love the sport and am a fully paid up Raiders member who also attends the away games and I would have been to at least one home game for every Sydney team that didn't involve the Raiders in the past two years.

Clubs have rightly promoted memberships but there will always be some for whom a membership doesn't fit and we need to still embrace those people not alienate them.

Hybid tiger you are right in that it is not going to happen this time and won't for a while but that is not the impression the Tigers put out yesterday morning.

Reality is if you have 18000 members attending games you have outgrown Leichhardt and need to play those games at a bigger stadium - but the tigers should celebrate that as a success not a failure.

Remember too it is the casual fan who doesn't even go to many games and watches it on TV that are going to provide a windfall for the sport. If only us RL addicts watched the game on tv the rights would be worth a pittance. It is the mass audience including those that don't really know who the teams are or watch it to see guys running around in shorts that the TV stations want and are willing to pay top dollar for.

Members should be the priority but casual attendees and tv fans are also part of the family that will grow this sport.

I am really failing to see the issue here.

If the tigers can manage to sell out their Leichhardt games in advance to members only, then more power to them. They are under absolutely no obligation whatsoever to reserve a set amount of tickets for walk up opposition fans who may or may not show in the first place.

What club in their right mind WOULDN'T allow their opening home game to sell out weeks prior to the season starts in favour of keeping a couple thousand tickets on the back burner in case opposition fans want to come to?

It's not just opposition fans. A guy from work has a CS only membership as he lives there & SFS & LO a turds to get to on weeknights. If he can go he just buys single game tickets.

He has all that stuff so effectively is paying $65 for a ticket or holds out in the hope they don't sellout or buys a seperate membership. I will add he takes his 10yo son there is no kids price. So he pays $130 for 2 tickets.

There are definitely some teething issues that will come with this.

Let's imagine a hypothetical situation where the Tigers actually have more members than LO or CS will allow.

I would suggest the following solution.
1) Taking into account the limited number at these grounds, Tigers would need to change up their membership structure significantly.
They should offer a customisable membership with the 'base' package including all SFS games, and then optional additions for LO and CS. These will be limited in number, and when they run out only SFS memberships can be sold. At this point it is worth considering the cost of actually playing at smaller grounds.

2) Allocate all reserved seating and a large portion of GA to the above season ticket holders. Of the remaining GA, allocate maybe 2000 to the general public - existing members have early access to buy tickets for friends/family, and 1000 for the away team - away members have early access.

Well sorry for your mate but really tough nuggets for him. He can either upgrade to a full season ticket, front up the $65 a ticket, or take a punt that these memberships wont sell out the game and there will be some tickets available to the general public.

The day the casual walk up fan gets preferential treatment over someone willing to pay for a membership/season ticket is the day the game has lost its marbles.

Members only ticket presale for memebers (ticketed & non ticketed) of WT & Sharks onsale tomorrow for 2hrs prior to general public release.

Should give any member without Leichhardt in their package to get tickets with ease.

All general admission of course

Having bought a couple season tickets for my stupid tigers loving sister and her husband for Xmas, I can confirm the tigers already do split up their memberships for their 3 home grounds.

You can purchase a season ticket to SFS, LO or CS only games, or any combination of the 3 (SFS+LO, CS+LO, SFS+CS).

As for your 2nd point, I would not want to see clubs turning away people who want to buy a season ticket in favour of giving their fair weather/band wagon fans a chance to pick and choose which games they want to go to. I could buy into the opposition fans case, but ONLY if the opposing side pre-purchased the tickets (thus guaranteeing the profits for the home side) then on-sold them to their fans. I'd also probably cap this to more like 500 tickets at a small ground like Leichhardt.

Fair enough, not everyone will agree on the details but a fair bit of thought needs to go into it.

I think there needs to be an allocation outside of the reserved season tickets. Not for the fairweathers - but for the members who can't make every game. Like someone who has a SFS or CS membership, an out of town membership, a non-ticketed membership. These people bought memberships to support the club, they should definitely be given a chance to grab tickets. Leftovers go to walk-ups.

The draw released with the day of the game would help. Atm most of the SFS games are the Fri night. He is no chance to get there after work.

All Tigers members should have access to the game like the finals pre-sale. Like Gronkathon said is happening is great. Otherwise we should only sell full ticketed

Completely agree. A full draw known before the season starts would increase membership sales as fans such as your mate would be able to know for certain which games he can get to, and buy the matching season ticket accordingly.

Something simple like allowing non-ticketed members of the club to be able to purchase tickets to every home game from the start of the year would be a good idea as well, with the general public only getting a shot at them a few weeks prior to the game.

Basically giving any and every advantage to members is the way to go.
