Completely agree TT, people whinging and moaning over a senationalist headline yet look at the facts. The club is not locking out anyone, they are just selling to home members first and trying to encourage supporters to become members. My guess is that there will be GA tickets on sale eventually.

Definitely agree that there should be allocated away tickets, maybe 1000 or so? That is something the NRL should enforce on all clubs.

There should be a limited number which the sharks purchase then sell to their fans other than that opposition fans concerns shouldn't matter for a Wests home.

I bought my first season ticket off the back of buying a 4 game membership towards the end of the season before so if it encourages more memberships then good on Wests.

Exactly.

As I said earlier, anything to encourage people to purchase memberships should be applauded, not ridiculed.

People really need to stop and think before they go and have a cry.

It's not that. It's the fact that the price for ONE game's general admission is $65!

People say it's not much, that is more expensive than a finals game. Rugby League is not meant to stop people from going to matches, but in this case since the club is forcing people to buy these memberships to get tickets.

Think about, an average family of four wishing to go to a game of footy on a Sunday. Instead of maybe paying $100 for the day. They now face paying $260? I know a lot of families that can't afford that for a once off game of League.

I am all for membership and securing your seat, but when you start locking out people due to price for standing room only it's a big ask. I just hope come Thursday there are tickets, because I still want to see my Tigers play.
Nobody is forcing anybody to do anything. If you want to guarantee your ticket, spend $65. If you want to risk not getting a ticket, wait a week and hope you can spend $25. There is no doubt at least some of the tickets will be sold to the general public, but you'll probably have to be quick once they are released. If you miss out, you miss out, but nobody is holding a gun to your head!

Perhaps it should be anyhting that encourage peopl to buy memberships and go to the game.

Why shouldn't members get priority over non-members anyway

why couldn't they offer the $65 membership thing and actually allow people to still buy GA at the same time?

There is merit to the idea but the execution is apalling.

My ideal solution would be for non-ticketed members of the home club having a ticketing window of a few days, after which tickets are available to the general public. This goes for all games, for all clubs.

That way, if there is enough interest from the home fans, it is possible for games to be sold out prior to the general public getting a look in. There would be no need for these weird little 1 game memberships like we see here.

Not sure how difficult it would be to have staggered ticketing windows. We have it for the finals matches, but it may be too much work for regular club matches...

Cant believe the hysteria over this.

Had about 3-4 emails from mates outraged at having to supposedly pay $65 to attend the game.

Apparently yesterday they have sold "hundreds" of one off memberships in one day to bring the total tally to 10,000.

Humphreys also says;

''We will see how they go over the next few days and if they are not all gone we will put some tickets on public sale later in the week"

I cant see them selling another 10,000 memberships in a few days.

However, expect a stampede when the General admission tickets to go on sale later this week.

Also, to all the haters, eventually this situation is going to happen a few years down the track.

When else can they do when they get more than 20,000 ticketed members, and they want to continue to play a few games at Leichhardt?

How do you buy tickets to Tigers games online?

It's OK. The Sharks website just told me.

Get In Early - Don't Miss Out

21/02/2012 4:58:41 PM
www.sharks.com.au

Tickets go on sale on Thursday for the Sharks round one match against the Tigers and with a sell out predicted, fans are encouraged to get in early to avoid disappointment.
With Leichhardt Oval's capacity set at 18,000 and with interest extremely high, Sharks fans should snap up the available tickets as soon as possible to ensure a presence when their team takes on the 2012 Telstra Premiership favourites.

Ticketing agency PROticket will handle all pre-sales, with Sharks and Tigers members having first access to tickets at 9.00am on Thursday morning.
Sharks Members should enter a unique ‘code word’ for the Members Only pre-sale window with the Sharks to send out an email on Wednesday with the special members code word.

The tickets will be available at www.proticket.com.au, with all reserved seating sold exclusively to Tigers members.

After members have had first shot at obtaining a ticket at 9.00am, tickets will then be made available to the general public from 12noon onwards.

Junior League passes will not be admitted to the match at this stage.

The Sharks v Tigers clash is set down for a 2.00pm kick off on Sunday, March 4.

just another example of humphreys being a f**kWIT CON-MAN. leichhardt oval holds 21,000 (safely) although for some reason they are saying 18,000 now. wests tigers normally has around 6,000-7,000 members. so how is it going to be sold out by members only? he gives the impression that it could be sold out by members only, which makes the morons panic (and there are alot of moron tiger fans) and makes them pay $65 for a ticket when they could have only paid $20. its also another way to make the wt membership numbers higher so it looks like he is doing a good job (WHICH HE ISNT)

Ah... The pariah, he returns. Didn't think this would affect you since you've declared you no longer care about WT.

Listen you parrot, it's a strategy to encourage people to sign up to memberships. There will still be allocations for GA tickets for non-members. Any chance to lay the toe into Humphreys and WT though hey? The round one memberships are $5 less than the one game membership so it's hardly a con-job. Must be miserable seeing the world through black and white glasses, all you see are shades of grey.

Don't fret though mate, I'm sure there'll be plenty of tickets to the Magpies NSW Cup game that weekend! ;-)

no i wont be there, but i wanted to expose the bullshit. a strategy to encourage people to sign up to memberships? ohhhhhh well isnt that a nice way to put it. the truth is its a load of crap to sucker people into getting a 1 game $65 "membership" when it would only cost around $20 to get a ticket. i KNOW there will be thousands of General Admission tickets for non-members but the way humphreys is talking is its possible there wont be, when he KNOWS there will be thousands of tickets left for non-members

"Any chance to lay the toe into Humphreys and WT though hey?"
i say it how it is."

you along with some other tigers supporters are nothing but camp concord's bitches and puppets.

Christ you are a f**king genius Alien.

The $65 isn't just a ticket to one game you f**king spastic, it's a one game membership. Includes the membership pack plus priority ticket purchasing for SOO, finals matches etc. etc.

Might I also add this same one game membership for the first game is $5 cheaper than it normally is.

Heaven forbid the club comes up with an incentive to encourage fans to become members, you f**king idiot.

I am a Raiders member so won't be attending this game either way, but I am watching the developments closely because it could extend to other games.

I think the $65 membership is totally counterproductive to what RL should be trying to do and have posted a long post in the Sharks forum which I don't plan to repeat here.

But most importantly, opposition team members should not be locked out or forced into buying a membership for another team. Both teams put on the show, both teams should have at least some allocation of tickets. There are plenty of people including myself who go to the away games and in many cases travel long distances to do so (I know that is probably not applicable for most Cronulla fans in this case).

IMO all clubs have a responsibility to encourage ALL fans to become members of THEIR clubs and should actually add to the benefits of membership by offering discounted tickets etc, not actively discouraging them from attending.

Humphrey's comments that Sharks fans should watch the match on TV are a disgrace. Does he suggest that all opposition fans do this throughout the season rather than attending Campbelltown or SFS games where there is ample capacity or even Leichhardt games as soon as the weather is not a perfect 20+ degrees Sunday afternoon? Perhaps they should and deny the Tigers valuable revenue.

(Before anyone says so - I do know there have been developments today and most likely anyone who wants a ticket will have an opportunity - BUT the main point should be that the NRL has to nip this in the bud before it becomes an issue in future years)

I can understand your point of view - but in all fairness, if it was at Shark Park I also believe that Sharks members should have first preference for seats and additional tickets.

At this stage, both Leichhardt and Lumeah have the space to accommodate all members, (should they choose to attend the season opener!) with plenty of space left over. I'd dearly love to be there - but alas, I'm 10,000 miles away and family at home will be using my membership.

As membership numbers grow, this is an issue to be dealt with, no question, but for now - the home team has every right to sell as many seats as it can to its members and fans, with the visiting team offered access at a later date for a small reserve of remaining seats, should the situation require it.

In future, it may well be that the games held at Wests Tigers two traditional homes are against the likes of Melbourne, North Qld, Warriors, Canberra, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Newcastle - the out of town teams, with the games with two Sydney teams being moved to the larger capacity grounds like the SFS or a Western stadium that has yet to be built/upgraded.

Tricking? Just because it's based out of Nigeria?

But we need to move this massive inheritance! All I need is your bank account details!

Seriously though - I think it's a clever idea to get more people signed up and hopefully to continue their membership with more than a single game ticket in years to come - in order to create a stronger Wests Tigers community with more members who feel they have a genuine connection to the club.

We're all well aware of your views, alien. I do think you're entitled to them and I disagree with many. Wests Tigers are here to stay and since you have publicly stated many times that you are no longer a fan, it may well be time to head off into the sunset as your allegiances clearly lie elsewhere.

:sarcasm: its not the actual membership deal i have a problem with. its the making people believe there might not be any tickets left for non-members that is wrong

''We have had our biggest day of membership sales today,'' he said last night. ''We will see how they go over the next few days and if they are not all gone we will put some tickets on public sale later in the week but at this stage the response has been terrific.''
